Ultimate Traveler starts from Douluo

Chapter 26: Proto-Domain

She then turned and walked toward a nearby tree, beneath which lay a flat patch of open grass. Taking a deep breath, she raised her hand, her palm glowing faintly with threads of blue-silver light interwoven with white and green energy.

"This is my first spirit skill… it's called Verdant Silken Grasp," Bai Xue said as she began to demonstrate.

She raised her hand, and at the end of her motion, several glowing vines emerged from the ground and coiled around her. The vines shimmered a vivid blue, with golden veins running through them, radiating a soothing aura that gently swept over both Ling Yuan and Li Shen.

"I can summon these vines within a short range. They soothe anyone nearby and can even calm aggressive beasts," she explained, swaying her hand gracefully. The vines moved like silky whips—elegant yet precise. She smiled, adding, "I can also use them to bind enemies, lash out in attacks, or wrap around allies to channel healing if I infuse life energy into them."

"All that from your first spirit ring skill?" Ling Yuan asked, surprised. "This isn't just a skill—this is practically a domain technique."

Li Shen nodded at her side, watching intently. "She's right. Bai Xue, this skill isn't just offensive. It's multifunctional. It carries the feel of a rudimentary domain—at least, the seed of one."

At his words, the vines pulsed faintly, as if responding to the praise. Though this was just a first-ring skill, it bore qualities that far exceeded its rank. The vines could lash, bind, support, and heal. And while she had only absorbed a 1,100-year-old ring, the harmony with her martial spirit—Blue Silver Light Empress—amplified its overall quality significantly.

"Can you… can you use your first spirit skill again?" Ling Yuan asked, then quickly added, "Don't undo the domain—just recast it."

Bai Xue nodded and focused. She extended her palm, and a ten-meter radius around her glowed softly with a green-blue aura. Vines shimmered in and out of the earth like ethereal threads. A gentle warmth spread through the surrounding air.

"This is my healing state," she said, surprised. "As long as my vines are touching the target, I can slowly restore their vitality. It's not fast… but it's steady. And I can do it while defending or attacking, too."

"It seems, young master," she continued, glancing at Li Shen, "I can just summon this domain and it will remain active—even if I stop channeling my first skill."

Li Shen narrowed his eyes thoughtfully. "It means your first skill leans heavily into healing and battlefield control. The rest of your skills will probably evolve depending on how you develop this domain. Whether it becomes pure healing, control-focused, or balanced will depend on the spirit rings you choose going forward."

Bai Xue looked at him seriously. "Then I'll work hard. I want to protect… not just myself, but the ones who saved me."

She turned toward Ling Yuan and bowed lightly. Then, she looked at Li Shen and whispered, "Especially you, young master."

Li Shen glanced at Bai Xue, noticing her lips move, but he didn't press the matter. She's probably just thanking me again, he thought, brushing it off casually.

However, Ling Yuan—standing silently to the side—smiled faintly. As a Title Douluo, her senses were far sharper than his, and she had clearly heard what Bai Xue whispered.

"Let's head back," Ling Yuan said gently. "Xue'er, make sure to study the arts properly. They're highly compatible with you. While copying them earlier, I could already tell how useful they would be."

Bai Xue nodded firmly. The three of them returned together. Soon after, they arrived back at Spirit Hall. Li Shen handed her the martial arts books and told her she could train with them to strengthen her foundation while he registered her for the Spirit Academy.

Before he left, Ling Yuan asked if she could also copy the two arts—Green Sun Art and White Light Steps—and submit them to Spirit Hall. Li Shen simply nodded.

They're weak compared to my Void Scripture, he thought. I don't mind others learning them.

Ling Yuan smiled slightly and took off. But the moment she was out of Li Shen's sight, she unleashed her true speed. As a Titled Douluo, her natural agility was already immense. But now, using White Light Steps, her movement speed had tripled. If she had fully mastered it, it would have been fivefold—and with her Light Affinity, that increase could even reach tenfold.

She reached Spirit Hall City in less than two hours.

Upon arrival, she didn't waste time. She went straight to the Worship Hall, where a solitary, dignified figure was praying before the great angel statue. An elderly man with golden hair sat in deep meditation. Despite being over a hundred years old, the immense pressure around him made it clear: he was an Ultimate Douluo. Yet he looked no older than a middle-aged man—his lifespan stretched far longer than most thanks to his rank.

"Ling Yuan, is something wrong with that boy you're watching?" the old man asked, eyes still closed.

She shook her head. "No, Elder Qian Douluo… Quite the opposite. It's about his master. I believe your guess was correct. That boy isn't an ordinary person—he's likely the inheritor of a divine being. A god."

Qian Daoliu opened his eyes slowly—calm, yet piercing. "Explain."

Ling Yuan respectfully handed him the copied versions of the Green Sun Art and White Light Steps.

He silently read them… and was stunned.

"Good… very good," Qian Daoliu muttered. "These aren't techniques mortals could develop. Even among our ancient archives, there's nothing like this. And to think he gave them away so casually…"

He stood up and walked to a nearby table, scribbling a note and copying the two arts once more. "We need to keep a close eye on that boy. Not to restrict him—but to support him from the shadows. A person like that… could change the course of the future."

He handed the note to a subordinate. "Deliver this discreetly to the other elders."

After a brief silence, Qian Daoliu spoke again, his voice calm but resolute.

"You should return to Li Shen. Continue protecting him—quietly. Ensure his safety, but do not make him feel watched."

Ling Yuan nodded. "Understood, Elder."

Before turning to leave, she reached into her storage-type soul guide and pulled out a small jade bottle, which she handed to him.
