Uma Musume: Mirror Team

Chapter 3: Other World Logs 1 Pt1

Victory Gate POV:

We've been staying at a hotel using the cash we have for the last 3 days since we arrived. We soon realized we only had enough for 3 months at best, especially with the large dietary consumption of 15 Uma Musume. That's why in yesterday's meeting we discussed possibilities for our future. We soon realized joining an academy was out of the question because we have no academic past paperwork, we are all over 18, being around 18 to 23 in our group's age range, and a lot of the group won't settle for mediocrity, which erased the possibility of regular jobs and small colleges. Still, we were all athletes in our past lives involved in running, me you ask, I was in cross country, where I was famous for two things: leading my teams to championships as team captain and adapting to any situation on the fly, being called Captain Adaptor by the fans.

That's why when deciding our roles, I was elected team captain and had to manage and record everything so far. Still, I had help. Mama Blues was vice captain, Tactical Gray became team strategist, and Tyrant Rose was team negotiator. Still, with the help of Great Wonder's business knowledge and Enduring Rain taking out the troublemakers to work out, this might be manageable. Tactical Gray soon found out about Free Style Racing after going to the library and accessing their free internet, which I remembered was the world Jungle Pocket came from before joining Tresen in the movie. We soon found out it's more hardcore than we assumed, with a mix of multiple different races per event.

Each event had regular grass and dirt races at different distances, like what we know called flats, but it also had team relays, obstacle races, which the grounds change and are filled with hills, turns, obstacles, and free contact to sabotage opponents, and finally mixed races which fuse the first 3 in different ways. The last two use parkour, free running, hurdle skills, and even combat skills, while the latter can have distances from fast sprints to marathons. It was perfect for us. They even had optional concerts at the end of your team wins the most points in said tournament, thanks to Uma Musume racing traditions. We had our plan, and it was time for a team meeting.

I soon called a meeting, telling Tactical Gray to inform everyone as soon as all of them arrived. She did more than that, she made and printed out a brochure and explained everything on a whiteboard I learned King Wild had borrowed from somewhere. How did she get that, did she steal it, if Tactical Gray is this good, should she be the team captain? I then took deep breaths when no one was paying attention. I was doing it again; my anxiety was making me doubt my effectiveness as a leader again.

Once I calmed down, I refocused on the group with Tactical Gray asking me," Hey, cap, you okay with the plan?" I then responded, not listening to that last part," I'm fine with whatever the group decides." Everyone then cheered with Imperial Punk yelling, "It's decided then, we are entering the world of Free Style Running!!!" Everyone cheered louder, as we separated with me having a mini panic attack, as in this world, I had no coach or anyone to secretly ask about the plan without having my reputation as a leader crumble. That's when I felt a hand on my shoulder, I turned around and saw a serious-looking Mama Blues looking at me, then with a serious tone asked," Can I talk to you for a moment?"
