Chapter 349: The Higher the Road, the Higher the Devil
When he arrived outside the private room, Sun Yang stopped the departing waiter.
“Mr. Sun, is there anything else?” the waiter asked, looking at Sun Yang with some confusion.
“Get me some Beibingyang laced with some special ‘happy water’…” Sun Yang said with a wicked smile, his expression turning sinister.
From their brief conversation earlier, he realized that Lin Muxia was not the type of woman who could be enticed by money.
Since he couldn’t lure her in with money, he had to initiate Plan B. After all, he didn’t have the time to develop a genuine relationship with this woman.
“Understood, Mr. Sun,” the waiter responded, nodding quickly, although his expression turned a bit peculiar, filled with regret.

After asking a waiter about Lin Muxia’s location, he decided to sit in the lobby and have a drink by himself.
Now wasn’t the right time for him to make a move. Since Lin Muxia was destined to face this ordeal, he might as well be the one to save her.
He intended to swoop in at the right moment and take the spoils from Sun Yang. Even though he fancied Lin Muxia, he had no obligation to play the hero just yet; otherwise, he wouldn’t be the villain.
With that in mind, Jiang Che glanced at the direction the waiter had gone and waited idly.
After Sun Yang returned to the private room, about five or six minutes later, the same waiter re-entered, pushing a cart with some Beibingyang drinks.
He placed an orange-flavored Beibingyang in front of Lin Muxia and a tangerine-flavored one in front of Sun Yang.
The drinks were intentionally distinguished because the orange-flavored one contained a special additive, while the tangerine-flavored one did not.
This was Sun Yang’s explicit instruction, meant to allay any suspicions Lin Muxia might have. Lastly, the waiter placed a plate of red dates between them, then bowed and left.
“Lin Muxia, please have a drink. This won’t make you feel uncomfortable,” Sun Yang said, smiling as he picked up the tangerine-flavored Beibingyang and took a sip.
He did this to dispel any doubts Lin Muxia might have. Seeing Sun Yang drink the beverage without any issues, Lin Muxia picked up the orange-flavored Beibingyang and drank.
The dim lighting in the room, coupled with the nearly identical packaging of the two drinks, made her miss the fact that she and Sun Yang were drinking different beverages.
Watching Lin Muxia open the can and drink, a gleeful look flashed in Sun Yang’s eyes as he laughed maniacally in his mind.

Since Lin Muxia used the excuse of being on her period to deceive him, he naturally had a way to counter it.
He had noticed that she was not actually on her period. When a woman is on her period, she tends to touch her lower abdomen due to discomfort and her brows would occasionally knit in pain.
None of these signs were present in Lin Muxia, so Sun Yang was confident that she had lied about it.
“Eat more red dates during your period; it’s good for your health,” Sun Yang said with a concerned tone, his expression soft.
There was still some time before the drug takes effect. For now, he just needed to keep her occupied.
