Where The Gods Sleep

Chapter 2: Ancient Egypt

My mother had left me alone. It was dark outside. I was sitting at my table in my room reading an old book about Greek and Egyptian mythology. The door opened slowly, and I looked up to see a man standing there in a white cloak. A pair of golden wings rested behind him on his shoulders, and a pair of bright blue eyes stared back at me. "Who are you?" I asked, looking up at him."My name is Zeus," he replied. I've heard you've been looking into the Gods and universe as a whole, why? Do you plan on joining us someday?" I shook my head. "No, I just find your stories interesting, that's all."He smiled. "You're not afraid of the Gods?""Why should I be?" I retorted."We are feared, yet respected among mortals. We do what we can to protect humanity from its enemies, and sometimes those enemies turn out to be other gods. If you wish to join us, you may, but we must make a deal.""What kind of deal?""Well, when you die, will you allow us to take your body, and use it to tap into mortal's experiences? In return, you get to continue living until your body dies. In the meantime, ill even teach you a couple of tricks, or as the Africans call it Muti(Magic). So what will you say?"I thought about it for a moment. "If you can teach me these things, I think I might agree. But if I don't learn any of the magic, then I won't join you."He nodded. "Very well. Come with me now."We went to another room, where there were many bookshelves filled with volumes about mythology, religion, science, philosophy, and other topics. Learn, live, teach, and become the greatest of your age but just remember we have a deal. And don't forget your promise!"I promised. After a long day of learning and reading, I went to sleep. That night I had the strangest dream ever. There was a strange, dark figure in front of me, wearing a hooded robe. He says in a whisper "you do not comprehend the powers you are playing with", then I creep awake laboriously breathing. "Anubis," I say to myself haunting, why? Was this so kind of vision, no I'm thinking too much into this. Maybe it was just a bad dream, after all, dreams tend to be odd.I awoke next morning feeling refreshed and ready to begin my new life. I ate breakfast, then packed my bags. I planned on learning all about Muti and the knowledge of the cosmos. As I left home, I looked over my shoulder one more time, then turned to the east, and started walking. "I do not where I go but ill show the country and then the world who I am". These were the words said by the world's first magician "Djedi Of Djed Sneferuor" known name we have "Dedi".
