Who hid My Corpse!

Chapter 18: I Have No Mother

Although the three of them didn't speak, Bai Wei knew they were all calculating similarly in their hearts—whether the interest in Visas's corpse blocks was driven by personal gain or for the collective, namely their respective Churches.

Of course, the result was clear; if it were the latter, Bai Wei's greatest trump card, Taoyuan Village, wouldn't have remained hidden from the Eight Great Churches until now.

Bai Wei's gaze continuously wandered over the three shadows, simultaneously pondering their desires and fears based on the storyline set in the game.

Rocky was quite straightforward; he was greedy and wanted new corpse blocks. But exactly which ones he didn't care... Oh, maybe except for the Eye because the Eye would definitely be reclaimed by Rhein's Pope. Rhein knew that Eye too well; even if Rocky got it, he couldn't hide it, so he probably wants any corpse block except the Eye.

Yet, simultaneously, he's particularly cautious, or rather... timid. He fears that if he messes things up, Rhein's Pope will not forgive him, so once he realizes things are becoming unmanageable, he'd withdraw immediately to preserve his status and the current corpse blocks.

So, to motivate this guy, one must create an environment where "just by taking the risk, he could gain significantly, and even if he fails, the consequences won't be too severe" to encourage him to jump in boldly.

Isaiah is different. This old fellow's desires are clear—it's the other Eye, more than his loyalty to the Star Relic Church. For this, he's willing to take more risks and pay higher costs than Rocky. With the left Eye as bait, it's easy for him to bite. Of course, given his strength, once caught, who's the fish, and who's the bait might still be uncertain, so one must be cautious when dealing with him.

Lastly, is the lady of the Nameless Town. Bai Wei still doesn't know her name or much about the Contract Land she represents. No one knows what she and the Contract Land want, but considering the Contract Land isn't aware of Taoyuan Village's existence yet, at least she isn't solely focused on sealing Visas as a devout believer.

"Alright, time in Taoyuan Village is precious." Bai Wei gently tapped the stone table with his finger to draw attention, and smiled as he said, "Instead of sulking here, why not do something more meaningful?"

Upon hearing this, Rocky instantly brightened up, "How about some cards or dice games?"

Goodness, at the last Corpse Friend Meeting, he felt something was missing, and only after it ended did he suddenly realize it was missing a crucial card game segment.

How can this be tolerated? He had been practicing for a long time, just waiting for another big round to fiercely win against that damn Hand Eye.

Sadly, Rocky's enthusiasm met a cold shoulder as Bai Wei smiled and shook his head, "Though I'd love to play such a game too, at a critical node like this, let's avoid adding too many uncertainties to prevent the 'Tongue' from finding an opportunity. So, why don't we skip those and get straight to a more honest trade?"

"Trade? Trade what?"

"What can you trade in Taoyuan Village?" Bai Wei shrugged, "It's nothing but each other's rules and intelligence. Exchange rules for rules, intelligence for intelligence, it's just that simple. Hmm... since Mr. Thumb wants to play cards, let's use the game approach like before."

As he spoke, Bai Wei snapped his fingers, causing two floating cards to appear in front of everyone, one labeled "Rule" and the other "Information."

"The rules of the game are simple. Each of us can choose a card, either 'Rule' or 'Information,' just like this." Bai Wei picked up the floating Rule Card, and after pinching it for a while, an eye pattern emerged on the card, "This represents my willingness to use the rule of the left eye in the trade. You all can do the same, either use information or rules, or use both together, finally trading card for card, entirely voluntarily. How does that sound, quite simple, right?"

The three of them didn't speak, instead falling into deep thought.

On the surface, this indeed seemed a straightforward game, but just a bit of thinking revealed it's not simple.

Because at this point, it's not a game, but more like "preparation before the hunt," and the target of the hunt is naturally the Nameless Town's "Tongue."

Undoubtedly, the "Tongue" with three corpse blocks is a powerful target, making a successful capture quite challenging.

So how can one increase the success rate of the hunt?

The answer is acquiring more extra power and information while also avoiding losing too much power and information that originally belonged to oneself.

For example, if the information obtained was the "Tongue's" current location, but the lost information was one's identity, then it would be a huge loss.

But if what one brings out is a trivial Information Card, why should the other party trade with you?

The Rule Card scenario is similar; how do you ensure the other's rules are more useful than yours?

The flood of questions instantly overwhelmed Rocky, causing his brain to feel close to overload, making him nostalgic for card games, where the stakes aren't as complex.

"So, have you all made up your minds?" Bai Wei said with a smile, "Once you have decided, you can begin."
