Chapter 19: So This Is Where You Are_2
Rocky turned his head, looking at Fenris, who floated like a ghost amidst the dusty mist.
This made Rocky uneasy: "So tell me, what's the matter?"
"We need your help."
"Need my help?"
"Yes, do you remember the Taboo Scholar I mentioned to you earlier?"
"That guy named Edwin?" Rocky remembered the name, "What about him?"
"We caught information about him in the Lord's dream," Fenris said, "and we have reason to believe he is trying to bring that forbidden knowledge into reality."
"When?"
"Twenty minutes ago."
Rocky's eyes widened instantly: "Twenty minutes ago?!"
"Yes," Fenris said lightly, "so we can't wait for the arbitration of the Contract Land; we must go and kill him now."
And at this very moment!
Rocky gritted his teeth: "What if he brings it out?"
"I don't know."
"You don't know?!"
"Yes, because no one knows exactly what that knowledge is," Fenris said, "and there's also the presence of the Divine Oath Mark. Theoretically, the moment he brings that knowledge into reality, he will die, which is the best outcome."
"And the worst?"
"He bypasses the Divine Oath Mark," Fenris said lightly, "and then becomes the next Visas."
...
Isaiah stood by the window, gazing at the Nameless Town under the night sky and the thick fog in the distance that seemed to obscure the daylight—No-man's Land.
Then the door of the room was knocked, and his student Mina came in.
"Teacher, you were looking for me?"
Isaiah nodded: "I just went to Taoyuan Village again."
Mina's expression froze for a moment, then she quickened her pace to Isaiah's side.
"Did something else happen?" Mina asked nervously.
"A lot of interesting things happened."
Isaiah smiled as he slowly recounted this journey to Taoyuan Village, but Mina couldn't be as relaxed as he was, looking extremely solemn.
"You mean there's someone in this Nameless Town right now who possesses three Corpse Blocks?" Mina asked softly, "Is he coming for us?"
"I don't know," Isaiah said with a smile, "although theoretically, outsiders of the Star Relic shouldn't know that this eye is with me. But someone with so many Corpse Blocks having access to some unknown information isn't really surprising."
Mina grew even more tense: "Should we report this to the Contract Land? He is their objective this time, right?"
"No, the objective of the Contract Land and Rhein is Ulu," Isaiah said, "which is the 'Hand Eye' in Taoyuan Village."
Mina understood her teacher's point: "You still want that eye."
"Of course," Isaiah said, "I told you, I'm willing to give everything for it."
"I'm a bit confused," Mina said, "You value that eye so much, why not exchange eye rules with Ulu, but instead exchanged for information? What kind of information could be more valuable than that eye?"
Isaiah smiled at Mina: "Can't you guess?"
Mina was silent for a while, then lightly said: "Is it his location?"
"Yes, his location," Isaiah looked into the distance, "and he promised not to change his location for at least a month, so I can find him anytime if I want."
Mina opened her mouth, then said after a while: "This almost sounds like... he's waiting for you."
"Yes," Isaiah said with a smile, "he and I both know what we want most from each other, so we could say we're natural adversaries."
"But is his promise really reliable?"
"Under the witness of Taoyuan Village, we all need to follow the rules," Isaiah turned to Mina, smiling, "If you've been there, you'd understand, Taoyuan Village is supreme, it's like Visas himself, forcing everyone to abide by its rules."
"I really can't imagine," Mina said softly, "Then what about the 'Tongue'? Are you planning to bypass him and go directly for the Hand Eye?"
"Of course not," Isaiah said gently, "I have a month to handle other matters, including that Tongue."
"Do you think he'll come to you?"
"Even if he doesn't come to me, someone will go to him, they're more urgent than I am," Isaiah once again gazed at the Nameless Town under the night sky, "And before that, I'll keep watching with this eye. Of course, if the opportunity arises..."
He paused, then smiled and said.
"I wouldn't mind taking it all."
...
Diana opened her eyes.
She wasn't sure if it was a hallucination; she felt as though her vision was clearer than ever before.
No, it wasn't a hallucination.
Diana lightly touched her left eye, feeling an unprecedented power surging within. Even though she hadn't yet unlocked it, the ripples from the power's surge brought her an indescribable joy as if the whole world was in her gaze.
This is... [Gaze].
Indeed an alluring power, tempting one to indulge, reminding Diana of the thrill when she acquired the [Contract] over a decade ago.
Diana took a few deep breaths to gradually hide away that thrill.
Having obtained [Gaze] without giving up [Contract], even if only for a month, Diana was more than satisfied.
She was like a child with a new toy, eager to play, unwilling to continue sleeping, and immediately got up and left the room.
The servant waiting outside immediately bowed and said, "Master, did we disturb your rest?"
It was indeed noisy outside because the guardians of the Contract Land were transporting packed carriages one after another.
Diana knew these were "props" being transported to the meeting place.
The Contract Land hadn't convened a meeting yet because of these things.
Diana ignored the servant at her feet, instead looking at the enclosed carriages.
Under the gaze of her left eye, the sealed carriages gradually "dissolved," allowing her to see the writhing tentacles they carried within.
Sure enough, it could see through.
Diana was more pleased with this eye, followed by an uncontrollable thought emerging in her mind.
So she turned and left, soon arriving at the most central area of the Contract Land.
That was where the abyss-like prison reached deep underground.
Diana stood above the prison, closing her left eye, her expression filled with hesitation.
But after taking a deep breath, she couldn't resist the crazy thought and gradually opened her left eye.
At that moment, her eye penetrated the abyss.
Countless seals, endless darkness, like a bottomless vortex, with a bloodthirsty wind constantly pouring out.
An indescribable fear gripped Diana's heart; she had been here for thirty years and never felt anything like this.
But she chose not to close her eyes, so her vision continued to delve deeper, as if peeling away all the fog.
Finally, in the extreme darkness, she saw a door decorated with snake patterns.
She was about to examine it closely when the snake patterns "opened" their eyes.
At that moment, an indescribable sense of danger surged into her mind.
Diana immediately closed her eyes, but it was too late; blood poured from her left eye, accompanied by piercing pain.
But the pain didn't last long.
With a "thud," the accompanying servant collapsed to the ground, eyes full of blood, unable to even cry for help, and after struggling twice, lost all vitality.
But Diana didn't even look at the servant, merely lightly touching her left eye and softly saying, "So that's how it is."
Then she felt her left eye twitch, as if responding to her words.
...
On the other side, Bai Wei also opened his eyes, recalling the images transmitted back by the left eye, he lightly laughed and said.
"So it's here."
