Who hid My Corpse!

Chapter 19: So This Is Where You Are

Rocky rudely shooed away the bewildered bedside little priest, and then sat alone on the bed, gnashing his teeth.

That damn Hand Eye... no, that damn Ulu!

This time, it's one thing not to play cards, but not involving him in the trade, openly disregarding his stuff, and not even asking what his information card is, that's too damn much!

What do they take me for?! An old fool who's been used up?! Everyone's got something, but not me?!

In an instant, past bad memories surged up again, making Rocky grit his teeth with more pain.

Setting aside the emotional dissatisfaction, what Rocky found even harder to accept was gaining nothing from this trade. It's like being implicitly excluded from hunting the "Tongue," and that's the key issue.

Rocky turned over and got out of bed, walked to the door, and gazed into the distance, but the thick fog made it impossible to see anything.

Yes, they were still in that small village in the No-man's Land, waiting for notifications from the Contract Land, while on the other side of the village were those mysterious believers of the Eternal Nightmare.

Rocky began to ponder.

If he remembered correctly, their current location was only half a day's distance from the headquarters of the Black Merchant in Nameless Town, and it was uncertain when the gathering place of the Contract Land would be decided. So from a time perspective, he could completely take the team to Nameless Town, find and kill the "Tongue," then return.

But this posed two problems: one, he wasn't confident about killing the "Tongue," after all, even Fig, associated with the Devourer, fell, and although it wasn't clear if it was by the "Tongue's" hand, the risk was there. Rocky didn't believe having the Corpse Blocks made him stronger than Fig with the Devourer.

The second problem was how to openly take the team over. It had to be known this was within the Contract Land's domain, surrounded by six church delegations. Even if he could kill the "Tongue," how could he retrieve the three Corpse Blocks under the churches' watchful eyes?

Moreover, he didn't know how to explain to his subordinates, considering the delegation was assigned to him by Lango, using this delegation to seize the Corpse Blocks for himself seemed somewhat unnecessary.

So Rocky was very conflicted.

On one hand, he might be the closest person to the "Tongue" besides Ulu, just a stretch away from obtaining the three Corpse Blocks, but the risk was unpredictable, especially solo.

On the other hand, even if he decided to wholeheartedly serve Rhein and report everything to Lango, it was a bit late now.

After all, he had lost Rules twice in Taoyuan Village, who knows what Ulu did with his Rules, could Fig's death be related? This wasn't something he could think through.

At least Rocky didn't think Lango would let him off as if nothing happened.

Should he pretend not to know, and watch from the sidelines as these guys fight?

Rocky was both unwilling and worried.

What if the fight breeds a Gu King in the end? He wouldn't dare imagine what if at the next Taoyuan Village Corpse Friend Meeting, he wakes up to see a phantom with eight Corpse Blocks smiling and saying to him, "You're next."

The struggle for the Corpse Blocks would never cease.

If Rocky didn't fight, someone fighting would come looking for him.

Thinking of this, Rocky's eyes gradually squinted, and his chaotic thoughts also became clearer.

Yeah, upon careful thought, he had no choice unless he cut off his thumb now and handed it to Lango for protection, completely becoming an outsider.

But would he really choose that?

Rocky looked down at his right thumb.

This thumb was inherited from the former Archbishop, how much pain and bitterness he had endured, only he knew. Giving up this finger wasn't something Rocky was willing to do.

If so...

Rocky knew what to do.

He immediately returned to the room and donned his Bishop's robe, symbolizing power.

Rather than hesitating, it's better to act immediately. Even if not joining the battle first, he must keep watching, seizing the opportunity in case it arises because he wasn't nearby so Rocky decided to move his team around Nameless Town now.

As for how to explain to the Contract Land... what explanation was needed, the Contract Land wasn't Rhein's superior. He'd just say it was too stifling here, wanted to visit Nameless Town to find some boy, Contract Land couldn't complain, Rhein always maintained this image, a good cover.

Damn, I'm really clever!

Rocky couldn't help but praise himself inside.

But just as he stepped out the door, he saw his Knight Master hurrying toward him.

"Lord Bishop," said the Knight Master in a low voice, "Fenris of the Eternal Nightmare Church is looking for you."

"Fenris?" Rocky instinctively frowned, glancing at the still dark sky, "What does he want with me in the middle of the night?"

The Knight Master hadn't replied yet when Fenris's forever half-awake voice came from behind him.

"Believe me, Bishop Rocky, we who chase dreams value the night more than you. If it weren't special circumstances, we wouldn't choose to disturb you at such a time."
