Chapter 10: Chapter 10: The Heart of Floral Language
"Teacher, it seems I've brought back a promising seedling this time! Unprecedented, unheard of…"
Colin stared at the extraordinary scene before him, his eyes wide, before he couldn't help but chuckle, his tone tinged with pride as if seeking credit for discovering Lynn.
However, the beautiful teacher merely glanced at him indifferently, her eyes showing little emotion.
She sighed softly, her voice carrying a hint of heaviness:
"Over a decade ago, I took in many students, but none of them survived. In the Furnace, without sufficient combat ability, survival is difficult. Especially for these complete newcomers… They've just stepped into the world of wizards, not yet understanding the rules. Not a single one has survived…"
Hearing this, Colin's smile faltered, and his proud expression gradually faded.
He clicked his tongue and tentatively said:
"Teacher, why do you insist on complete newcomers? Even students with black wizard backgrounds might not…"
Before he could finish, the teacher's expression turned cold.
Though she was usually gentle and soft-spoken, her deep blue eyes now narrowed sharply, her gaze like icy blades as they fell on Colin.
"By the Mother of Nature," she said, her voice low but carrying a pure authority, "even though we are in the Furnace, we must maintain a pure heart. These complete newcomers, untainted by the Furnace, are the only ones worthy of the Mother of Nature's seeds."
Colin immediately realized his mistake, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead as he quickly lowered his head and said:
"Understood, Teacher. I was wrong."
The teacher shifted her gaze back to the seeds on the disk.
Her expression softened, but her focus grew even more intense.
The disk contained numerous life seeds, each brimming with vitality. However, these seeds were no ordinary objects.
They were extremely demanding in their response to the chosen individual, only reacting if they sensed the potential for growth within that person.
When Colin mentioned that his teacher had "high standards," it wasn't an exaggeration.
Even exceptionally talented apprentices would never be accepted by her if they failed to gain the seeds' approval.
Yet now, all the seeds on the disk were responding to Lynn simultaneously!
"This…" The teacher's beautiful eyes narrowed slightly as she gazed at Lynn.
She knew that these seeds didn't just consider talent; more importantly, they sensed the potential for growth that aligned with their own.
But now, over a hundred life seeds were responding to the same person at once an unprecedented phenomenon.
"Could this child be someone beloved by nature…"
She gently pursed her red lips, her beautiful eyes fixed on Lynn, who was still wrapped in the floral cocoon.
Regardless of the process, Lynn had successfully passed the teacher's trial.
In the next moment, the beautiful flowers entwined around Lynn slowly unfurled, like a broken cocoon.
As the petals scattered, Lynn's figure emerged. To him, the brief time felt like an incredibly sweet dream.
When the flowers left his body, he awoke from the dream, opening his eyes to see Colin and his teacher smiling at him.
"Congratulations, Lynn. You've passed the teacher's trial."
Colin smiled, his tone filled with pride and relief.
Lynn hadn't fully grasped what had just happened, but when his gaze fell on the teacher's hand, he noticed it had transformed into a disk adorned with glowing, seed-like objects.
His heart stirred, and a look of disbelief and joy appeared on his face. "Did I pass, Lord Colin?"
"If you don't plan to refuse, then of course you did! But now, you don't need to call me 'Lord Colin' anymore. Besides,"
Colin chuckled, his tone light as he reminded, "The person you should be addressing is our teacher, right?"
Hearing this, Lynn felt an uncontrollable surge of joy.
He had never imagined that he could become the apprentice of a true wizard.
Especially in his current environment a Furnace that devoured the weak becoming the apprentice of a true wizard meant he had secured a powerful ally!
He took a deep breath, a sincere smile on his face, and then bowed respectfully:
"Teacher!"
"Good child."
The teacher smiled warmly, her beautiful eyes filled with appreciation. "My name is Rosalind. You may call me Teacher directly."
Hearing this, Lynn's heart swelled with even greater excitement.
Rosalind, too, was quite satisfied with Lynn.
Whether it was his affinity with nature or his humility and manners, she found him highly commendable.
With that, Lynn officially became Rosalind's student.
The pleasantries exchanged between teacher and student, as well as with Colin, gradually lightened the atmosphere, creating a harmonious relationship.
As a teacher, Rosalind naturally had a gift for Lynn.
She plucked a medal from a plant in the garden and handed it to him.
The medal was crystal-clear, its surface engraved with images of various flowers, emitting a faint glow.
Rosalind explained to Lynn that this was a magical item she had crafted herself, called the "Heart of Floral Language."
She elaborated: "Magical items are created by formal wizards through enchantments, imbuing them with special powers. They can be activated with a small amount of mental power and an incantation, unleashing powerful magical effects."
For wizard apprentices, the importance of magical items was self-evident.
Rosalind continued:
"Wizard apprentices don't have the diverse abilities of formal wizards. Many apprentices haven't even mastered a handful of complete spells. In such cases, magical items not only compensate for the lack of combat ability but are also crucial for improving survival."
Lynn carefully accepted the medal, his eyes filled with gratitude.
For him, this magical item was undoubtedly a life-saving treasure.
After all, there was still an unknown enemy lurking in the shadows, ready to strike at any moment.
With the Heart of Floral Language, even if he were targeted, he would at least have some means of self-defense.
Moreover, now that he had become the apprentice of a formal wizard, that enemy would likely think twice before acting, deterred by this new layer of protection.
In any case, this magical item was undoubtedly a valuable gift.
Not only did it represent a guarantee of survival, but it also left Lynn with an excellent first impression of his "bargain beauty teacher."
Compared to the cold, ruthless image of black wizards in his mind, this Teacher Rosalind truly lived up to her beautiful appearance like an angel!
The Heart of Floral Language, when activated, formed a protective barrier of entwined flowers, providing the wearer with a short-term defensive shield.
