Chapter 69: Not Now
Lannita looked at the increasing number of guards around her but did not attempt to fly away because this time her prided flying ability had met its match.
Lannita was unsure if she could escape from the hands of the White Queen, and while she hesitated, many more tiny red dots appeared on her body.
Following these red dots with her eyes, she saw at least thirty hand crossbows uniformly pointed at her.
This made her completely abandon the thought of escaping.
No one could dodge such densely packed crossbow arrows at such close range.
Lannita had just been shown a face full of affection by a human and a dragon, thinking next Li Yu would switch attention to serious matters, but the Lady further engaged the Prophet from the Double Rest Sect in pleasantries.
She even planned to personally check Li Yu's body to see if the recent not-so-intense battle had left any injuries.
Finally unable to bear it, Lannita coughed lightly twice and took the initiative, "Have you forgotten something?"
Li Yu finally turned his head towards her again.
"Shouldn't we discuss the matter of my ransom?" Lannita said, "I know there's such a tradition on the Bratis Continent, I can pay you one hundred thousand, no… one hundred fifty thousand golden lions."
Just then, Yaxu hurried back, just in time to act as a translator for the Lady and others. Upon hearing Lannita's words, Miss Rabbit, for once, did not jump at the sight of money.
"Previously, you relied on this White Dragon to commit countless misdeeds in the western territories, attacking numerous lords' lands, killing and setting fires everywhere, and even forcing others to attack my territory…"
"That was all Lord Solomon's decision; I was just a small character running errands for him, actually, I also think this time things went too far, but I had no choice."
Lannita pitifully said, "I couldn't defy him, at Lion Heart Castle Solomon even forced me to sleep with him."
"So you're that pitiful, huh." Miss Rabbit said sympathetically.
"Yes, exactly." Feeling hopeful, Lannita's acting became even more intense, her eyes even reddening.
However, the Lady's lips then curled up, displaying a mocking smile, "So the daughter of Sibulun also has to sleep with someone?"
Lannita was startled and quickly glanced at Yaxu, then lowered her head, "I am just an adopted daughter of Sibulun, he has never paid much attention to me."
"What about the Wizard Association? Do they not care about you either? Your teacher is the chairman of the Wizard Association, as I know, wizards in your place are like priests on the Bratis Continent, highly regarded in your clans, even your foster father Sibulun cannot ignore the Wizard Association's opinions."
"Thank you, you've really spelled it out clearly," Lannita looked at Yaxu.
However, this time she misunderstood Yaxu; though Yaxu had indeed revealed many things to save his life, he hadn't been asked much about Lannita by Li Yu.
The Prophet of the Double Rest Sect had mostly relied on the sources in the Royal Capital to learn the details about Lannita.
The young winged girl sighed, "It seems you are not planning to let me go."
"No, I won't kill you," Li Yu said, "After all, you did give me a dragon, and in return, I will set you free."
"Really?" Lannita perked up upon hearing this, "If I can go back, I will definitely persuade Solomon to cease fighting with you, Bratis Continent is too vast for my clan, we simply do not need that much space… We can cede the western territories to you and confer the Arias family as the new lords of the West."
"I don't need your conferment," the Lady coldly said.
"No problem, we can recognize you as an independent kingdom, just like those elves and dwarfs," Lannita immediately corrected herself.
But then she heard Li Yu speak again, "…but not now."
"Hmm?"
"I will let you go back, but not now," the Prophet of the Double Rest Sect repeated.
"When will that be?"
"That will depend on what Solomon chooses," Li Yu said.
Although this outcome was not what Lannita most desired, considering her current situation, escaping death was not too bad; after all, staying alive was most important—being alive meant there was hope.
Of course, Lannita would not forget tonight's enmity; given the chance in the future, she would certainly retaliate doubly.
However, what Lannita failed to notice was that when Li Yu spoke of letting her go back, but not now, Yaxu beside her suddenly shuddered, the color draining from his face significantly.
It was as if he had thought of something terrifying.
A group of Arias family guards subsequently handcuffed and shackled Lannita and even bound her wings, stripping her of the ability to fly.
Perhaps knowing she would not die, Lannita was rather cooperative this time, as those men escorted her to the dungeon beneath Teacup Castle, where she was temporarily confined.
After she left, Miss Rabbit couldn't help but observe the White Dragon before her; although this was not her first time seeing a giant dragon, she still couldn't help but feel awe.
There actually existed such a horrifying predator in this world, seemingly born for slaughter.
Moreover, the White Dragon before her was much more polite than the previous Black Dragon; even when Miss Rabbit reached out to touch its scales, or climbed onto its back with Li Yu's help, it did not become agitated.
The Lady stealthily poked Li Yu beside her, whispering, "Is it only this obedient tonight, or will it always be this compliant?"
"It will always be," Li Yu paused then added, "but it only regards me as its closest companion, not meaning it will change its nature.
"Even with my orders, when I'm not present, it's best not to let anyone else besides you come near it; otherwise, a tragedy might occur."
"Even you need to slowly build a relationship with it, personally feed it, spend time and interact with it to truly gain its recognition."
"That sounds quite interesting, isn't this just like raising an Ancient Spirit?" Miss Rabbit recalled her Electronic Pet Egg, a task she was familiar with.
"This…is somewhat similar, yes."
Although it was already very late, the crowd around the White Dragon had not thinned; instead, it grew larger.
To prepare for tonight's attack, many had not slept; hearing there was a dragon to see in the square, everyone rushed over.
The Lady had to delegate some of her people to maintain order; when the public learned that the giant dragon had now been summoned by the Double Rest Sect and become a Guardian Dragon, they erupted into cheers.
When that massive white body appeared in the sky over Green Field, many couldn't help but wipe sweat from their brows, truly feeling fear deep down.
Even warriors who had participated in the previous Dragon Slayer battle drew in a sharp breath when they saw this opponent.
Fortunately, once again, the Double Rest Sect had provided them protection, and everyone's gazes eventually fell back onto the black figure beside the White Dragon, filled with devotion and reverence.
