Chapter 747: Unwelcome Guests
Miss Rabbit's question made Li Yu think back to his previous two jobs, the suffocation and numbness gradually swallowed by life in the office building.
In some ways, Li Yu even envied the female employee who cried to her mother on the phone in the corridor; at least she still had strong emotions.
As for Li Yu at that time, he had learned to be indifferent to everything around him, to no longer be moved by anyone, only repeating daily work and overtime.
He had gradually become a walking corpse.
Until he came to Bratis and met Ireya.
That day's encounter changed not only Miss Rabbit's destiny but also shifted Li Yu's own life.
He personally founded the Double Rest Sect, starting from scratch, and gradually developed it to its current state, already having over one hundred thousand followers and continuing to expand and grow.
He was turning his once unattainable desires into reality little by little in another dimensional plane.
Li Yu could feel his dormant heart beating again, although he always told himself not to invest too much emotion in a job.
Because past experiences had proven, doing so was just asking for trouble.
But as of today, he could no longer convince himself of that, as everything happening here had far surpassed just a job.
Sitting in front of him, Miss Rabbit seemed to feel Li Yu's emotional fluctuations, so she strained to turn around, took off one of her gauntlets, and placed her warm palm on Li Yu's cheek.
"I will try hard to grow stronger so you won't have to work so hard in the future."
"I don't find the work here hard," Li Yu shook his head, "actually, this is my favorite job."
The girl's heart thumped wildly at his words. Was this a confession, or was she overthinking it again?
Before Miss Rabbit could continue guessing, Li Yu continued, "Regarding your earlier question, I have my answer now, let's start dating."
"Hm?" Miss Rabbit was slow to react until she realized what Li Yu was saying. She almost jumped excitedly off the dragon's back.
If Li Yu wasn't still holding her, the girl might have bungee jumped under the White Dragon already.
According to the "Life Simulator beta version," Li Yu would have become a couple with Miss Rabbit next month.
But acknowledging that becoming the Prophet of the Double Rest Sect was more than just a job, Li Yu finally stopped suppressing his emotions as before.
He began to try and explore an intimate relationship like a normal person, no longer deliberately waiting for next month.
"Yes, yes, yes." The girl was overjoyed at his words.
From her attitude, she might as well start sending out invitations to all the nobles in the west, inviting them to celebrate their wedding now.
Li Yu had to remind her, "The Wing Clan army should be attacking soon, and once the news of Lannita's mishap reaches the Royal Capital, Solomon will likely launch a full-scale attack on us soon."
"Hmm," Miss Rabbit calmed down somewhat when discussing serious matters and frowned, "Is Lannita's identity more important than her cheap brother? Shajia was killed by us before, and there wasn't much activity from Solomon's side, was there?
"I remember you said, according to Lord Kieran's description, he is extremely rational and ruthless, setting aside all personal feelings and focusing on the bigger picture."
Li Yu said, "It's because he is a very calm person that he will strike at us."
Seeing the Lady still seemed confused, Li Yu explained further, "Solomon didn't act because of Lannita, but because we stole one of their dragons, an act he could not tolerate."
"Because we managed to steal one of his dragons, there's a chance we could steal another."
At this, Miss Rabbit perked up. "Can we really?"
"No," Li Yu replied. "The Holy Artifact for taming giant dragons is single-use; once it's gone, it's gone."
"I see," the Lady said, slightly disappointed. She had wanted to ride a dragon herself, but then she thought that this would mean she could always ride the dragon with Li Yu, which shifted her disappointment to joy.
"I will strive to unite the nobles of the west and resist those who dare to invade our home to the very end," Miss Rabbit said, rubbing her hands together in determination.
Li Yu nodded. "According to our previous agreement, I will handle that Wing Tribe army."
"What do you plan to do?" the Lady inquired curiously.
"First, I'll give them a warning."
...
Lion Heart Castle. Inside Solomon's temporary mansion.
The Wing Clan Commander looked at the young man in front of him, whose expression was sullen and somewhat sharp. "You say you are a Sabbath from the Double Rest Sect?"
The young man bowed slightly. "Yes, my name is Redio."
"I'm not interested in what you call yourself," Solomon interrupted him bluntly.
"Your prophets and the lords of that land resorted to despicable means to kill my bravest warrior, and by our traditions, I should now have you dragged out and killed as well."
"Of course, you could choose to kill me," the young Sabbath said, his lips curling into a smirk that seemed slightly mocking.
"But I am just a minor character; killing me would mean that Lord Sibulun, having already lost a son, would suffer the loss of a daughter as well."
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Solomon frowned, then turned to Kieran beside him. "Did you tell him about Lannita?"
The Minstrel hastened to shake his head. "Not me. Redio just suddenly found me and asked me to introduce him to you based on old times, claiming he had important matters to report to you.
Beyond that, I haven't shared anything with him."
Though he said this, Kieran was inwardly groaning, unsure why Redio had suddenly decided to come to Solomon, also implicating him in the process.
From Solomon's doubtful gaze, the Minstrel knew that the positive image he had managed to build in his heart had been compromised.
Yet he could not persuade Redio otherwise, as the latter claimed it was a decision made on Saturday, which no one could defy.
"This matter is unrelated to Lord Kieran," Redio continued. "Even if Lord Kieran had disclosed to me that Lannita and the White Dragon had left, he wouldn't know the outcome of their journey, but I do."
"How could you possibly know?" Solomon disbelieved. "The West is thousands of miles from here. Even with the wings of the Wing Tribe, it would take several days to fly."
"But the oracles of Prophet Merlin can arrive in an instant. I also waited a few extra days, just to calculate the time, and the news from there should almost reach the Royal Capital by now."
