Chapter 46: TST [46]
The next day, the Virtual Duelist Forum, which had gone quiet as major clubs prepared for the league, suddenly exploded with activity again.
All because of one reason: a hot post that gained hundreds of thousands of views within an hour of being published. What made it even stranger was that it was just a low-profile leak thread.
In this world, there were still leakers known as "uncles" who liked to share insider info.
Usually, their leaks involved the debut of rare cards, reprints of powerful ones, or major duelist transfers and retirements.
Though the accuracy was hit or miss, the suspense always sparked discussions and drew a lot of attention.
This time, the post went viral because it concerned the "SunshineStriker," the mysterious duelist recently pursued by major clubs.
Back then, it had triggered a wave of hype and investigation.
But with no leads turning up, it eventually faded into silence.
Now, however, one of these uncles claimed to have discovered the duelist's true identity—and was auctioning the info publicly online.
It caused an immediate uproar.
Some were curious how he got the info; more were skeptical.
"Is this real? You really have the mysterious duelist's info?"
"Looking at his past posts, he did leak the debut of some rare cards correctly. There might be some truth to it."
"Give me a break! Card debuts and duelist identities are two different leagues. He's just here for attention!"
"Exactly! All the major clubs searched for months with no results. Now suddenly this guy finds it easily?"
Replies flooded in beneath the post. Before anyone could finish reading one, it would be buried under hundreds more.
In no time, the thread had thousands of comments.
That alone proved how much attention "SunshineStriker" still commanded.
Everyone who had seen her undefeated streak to Platinum in livestreams was desperate to know who she was.
Finally, amid all the doubt, one particular comment stood out:
"OP, how much for the info? I want to buy it."
When that reply appeared, the entire forum froze for a moment.
Then an even louder wave of comments erupted.
"Damn it! You beat me to it. I was just about to ask! If it's cheap, I'm in too."
"Same! I've been dying to find out who the mysterious duelist is."
"Yo, the OP activated the auction system on the forum. Is he really putting this up for bidding?"
"He dares to use the auction system? Then it's probably legit. If it's fake, he'll be sleeping with the fish."
With the explosion of replies, it also caught the attention of the major duel clubs.
They knew better than anyone how hard it was to cultivate a strong duelist. Someone like the mysterious duelist, already powerful and ready to compete without training, was incredibly valuable.
Now that the leak was being auctioned with a formal system, credibility skyrocketed, and they couldn't help jumping into the bidding war.
"Starting price? We, the Saint King Club, are willing to offer the highest bid. Hope our fellow clubs will show us some courtesy."
"Keep dreaming. This auction belongs to Red Dragon Club!"
"Red Dragon hasn't won in years. Don't hold her back. She belongs with the Mechanical Nobles Club!"
"Enough! Stop arguing! The auction has started—let your money do the talking!"
As the clubs threw barbs at each other, an auction room number appeared at the top of the forum.
People swarmed in, but upon seeing the 10 million starting price, they speechlessly backed out and returned to spectator mode to watch the big guns fight.
"Ten million starting bid... damn. Saint King Club bids eleven million!"
"So stingy! That's it? I bid fifteen million!"
"Seventeen million!"
"Screw it, I'm all in! Twenty million!"
The bidding skyrocketed like a rocket launch. Everyone's faces turned red with tension. If this were happening offline, physical violence might've broken out already.
At that rate, the winner wouldn't be the highest bidder, but the last one standing.
Just as the fever pitch reached its peak, a message brought things to a halt.
It was from the Haisen Club.
HaisenVolcanic commented, "Can you disclose any public details? Even with the auction system in place, a starting bid this high demands proof that your info is worth it."
After Haisen spoke, the other clubs nodded and agreed. The auction stalled.
A moment later, the OP seemed to realize the same and responded:
"The mysterious duelist is a girl. That's all I can say. But I guarantee the info is real."
'A girl?'
The clubs froze for a second. With the OP doubling down on the claim, the bidding resumed with even greater intensity—and even bigger amounts.
Then came a wild bid that stunned the entire room into silence:
"We, Team Predator, bid 100 million. This duelist belongs to us!"
