Chapter 249: The Queen's Dream

From a pile of shattered stones, Daniel rose with a shiver. Heavens Honor was still in his hand, its blade faintly glowing with a weak aura of death energy.

Blood dripped from his forehead into his eyes. His legs were shaking, but his eyes were full of determination.

He glanced at his body and moved his neck a bit. The attack the Queen had launched was very strange—it had completely shut down his danger sense.

Before the attack even hit him, he hadn't realized just how dangerous it truly was.

'Could those screeching sounds have actually been a mental attack? But I should be resistant to mental attacks… unless—' His eyelids trembled as a thought hit him.

He should have some resistance to mental attacks, but the fact that a monster's mental assault could completely nullify his danger sense meant that it had been insanely strong.

Strong enough that even after being weakened, it still shut it down. God knows what would've happened if he didn't have that resistance.

"Pathetic? You're just a giant bug that takes herself too seriously!" Naturally, Daniel wasn't going to leave her words unanswered.

The Queen growled, her eyes blazing with fury.

Daniel leapt into the air, channeling both death energy and streaks of Eternity energy into Heavens Honor. The blade rushed toward the Queen like a black-and-red meteor.

His strike hit the Queen's massive arm. Her golden scales cracked, and sparks of corruption scattered everywhere.

The Queen countered with [Shower of Scales]. Her golden scales shot toward Daniel like a rain of razor-sharp blades.

He spun his sword quickly to deflect some, but several struck his chest and thigh. Deep wounds opened, red blood gushed out, and pain stabbed through his body like knives.

'Damn it… these wounds are going to kill me!' He ignited his blade with fire energy and struck at the Queen's fragile wings. The flames scorched her left wing, and the Queen recoiled with a shriek of pain.

The Queen roared with [Mother's Wrath], and her speed and power suddenly doubled. Her movements became so fast it was as if a giant shadow was dancing across the cave.

Due to the size of her massive body, every one of her attacks caused widespread destruction in the underground cave. Many of the pillars collapsed.

Daniel could only hope the cave wouldn't collapse on top of them.

The Queen attacked with her massive claws. Daniel dodged, but one claw struck his side, ripping a deep gash and slamming him into the ground.

Blood poured from his body like a stream, and every breath felt like a blade stabbing his chest.

Even with all the injuries, he wasn't worried. At worst, he'd die—and he wasn't afraid of death. He had plenty of extra lives to use.

With a shout, he got back on his feet, spun Heavens Honor with all his strength, and struck the Queen's leg. The blade sliced through her golden scales, splattering green and golden blood. The Queen roared, shaking the ground.

"You think these little scratches are gonna stop me, bug?" Daniel said with a blood-stained grin.

"You're just a giant mommy wasp!"

The monster seemed visibly enraged by Daniel's words. Suddenly, she let out a thunderous roar.

Then she attacked with [Great Wasp's Breath]. Waves of poison and corruption filled the cave, tainting the air and weakening Daniel's body.

He struggled to breathe. The venom burned through his veins like acid. He focused and circulated death energy through his body to neutralize the poison, but his mana was running low.

Even though he had a large mana pool, it wasn't infinite—and especially now, using death energy to heal his wounds consumed even more.

The Queen didn't give him any chance to recover or reflect. She released [Queen's Howl], a piercing screech. The sonic waves crushed Daniel's mind and body like a storm.

He dropped to his knees. His ears rang and his vision blurred. But once again, he stood up. He infused Heavens Honor with Eternity energy and attacked the Queen's chest.

His blade carved a deep wound, but the Queen didn't even flinch. She countered with a massive claw strike that slammed his body into the cave wall. Bones cracked, blood sprayed from every wound, and he collapsed on the ground, screaming in pain.

The Queen was wounded too. Her wings were torn to shreds, and her golden body was full of cracks. Her aura had dimmed, but it still roared like a storm.

Daniel was panting, leaning on his sword. His body was covered in injuries… If he had access to his attack skills, this fight would've been over a long time ago.

With Eternal Judgment, he could've crushed this bug easily. But unfortunately, that damn restriction was still blocking him from using them.

The Queen stared at him with glowing red eyes. She was clearly in a terrible state too—especially because her massive body, while giving her many advantages, also came with serious drawbacks and limits.

Besides, during the entire fight, she had been trying to summon her other children to come save her—but no one had come. That meant her other offspring weren't in good shape either, and that thought only made her angrier.

She had believed they'd finally found a place to call home… but these filthy creatures who call themselves "humans" kept attacking them and slaughtering them.

And now, this white-haired human had invaded their sacred nest and slaughtered many of her children. Their corpses were still here…

With an overwhelming killing intent, she stared at Daniel. Even if she died today, she would make sure that this human—the one who killed thousands of her children—would die with her.

No… she couldn't die…

Countless of her children had been slaughtered… all the humans in this city had to be massacred.

She would kill and devour every last one of them.

She would turn this entire city into an abandoned graveyard—and on top of that graveyard, she would build a safe nest for herself and her children, so that no human would ever dare attack them again.

Daniel raised his blade once more, ready for a final clash, while the Queen gathered her aura for a deadly strike of her own.
