Before Tanjiro could even rise, Lower Rank Five was upon him, delivering a powerful kick to his chin. Tanjiro was sent spinning through the air, before crashing into a tree trunk.

Immediately, a torrent of blood gushed from his mouth.

As the blood flowed, Tanjiro looked up to see Lower Rank Five standing over him, one hand already raised.

A brutal punch to the face sent him spinning again.

These two devastating blows left Tanjiro weak and drained, his earlier rage and killing intent completely gone.

He focused intently on regulating his breathing, trying to control the spread of his injuries and mitigate the pain.

"Did you really think that getting close would let you cut off my head?" Lower Rank Five taunted, stepping closer.

Tanjiro made no attempt to retreat; his strategy was to get close and strike at Lower Rank Five's neck.

Lower Rank Five's advance was, therefore, an ideal opportunity.

Soon, Lower Rank Five was in front of him, spreading his hands. "Very well! I'll give you one chance. Try to cut me."

Tanjiro took several deep breaths, regaining his composure as much as possible, then swung his broken blade with all his might at Lower Rank Five's neck.

Lower Rank Five reacted with lightning speed, dodging the attack by turning his head, then countering with a left and right hook to Tanjiro's face.

Tanjiro spun again, using the momentum of the spin to swing his blade once more.

This time, Lower Rank Five didn't dodge; he was fulfilling his promise to give Tanjiro a chance.

The broken blade struck Lower Rank Five's neck, producing only a metallic clang. No matter how hard Tanjiro tried, the blade couldn't even scratch his skin.

Lower Rank Five had allowed this precisely because he knew Tanjiro couldn't cut him. His goal was to completely destroy Tanjiro's confidence.

"I told you! Your plan was idiotic! My body is far harder than my silk threads. You couldn't even cut through my threads, let alone my neck!

Fool!" Lower Rank Five then kicked Tanjiro in the stomach, sending him flying over ten meters.

Seeing Tanjiro attacked, Nezuko, suspended in the air by silk threads, struggled violently.

Lower Rank Five, displeased by her struggle, tightened the threads, cutting deeper into her flesh.

Blood spurted out, and Nezuko slowly slipped into unconsciousness from the increased pain.

Tanjiro, having tumbled several times before coming to a stop, painfully pushed himself up, kneeling on the ground.

"This... this is the power of a Lower Moon? Truly terrifying!"
