For nearly an hour, the Blue Silver Emperor sat by the cliffside, explaining the wonders of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to Lin Yongming.
"Incredible! With such a detailed explanation, this place truly sounds like a paradise. No wonder it's protected by such a massive toxic mist," Lin Yongming responded, his voice filled with awe as he nodded along with the Blue Silver Emperor's words.
"It's more than that. I believe this toxic mist must be hiding an immensely poisonous immortal herb. Only such a plant could gather and control so much poison, feeding on it and using it as sustenance," the Blue Silver Emperor stated with certainty.
"Is that so? Your words sound almost fantastical. Nature is truly miraculous. If it's as extraordinary as you say, no wonder you mentioned that even the Star-Eyed Grass is nothing more than a weed here," Lin Yongming replied earnestly.
"Alright, I've explained everything I can. Since you're not familiar with these things, just stay here. I'm going down to search for treasures, haha!" The Blue Silver Emperor patted Lin Yongming's shoulder, her excitement barely contained as she prepared to descend.
"Let me come with you," Lin Yongming offered.
"No need. Your eyesight isn't the best, and you don't know much about these plants. If you accidentally touch something poisonous, you'll be in trouble. Just wait here for my good news," the Blue Silver Emperor said with a smile. She then leaped gracefully, using the uneven cliffside to make her way down to the valley floor.
"A'Yin, be careful!" Lin Yongming called after her.
"Xiao Ming, wait for my good news. I'm sure there's an immortal herb here that can cure your eyes," the Blue Silver Emperor's excited voice echoed from below.
"The Tear of Longing?" Lin Yongming thought to himself, his mind's eye carefully observing the Blue Silver Emperor's movements.
Once she reached the valley floor, the Blue Silver Emperor scanned her surroundings and quickly made her way to the intersection of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Springs. After a few steps, she crouched down to examine a particular plant.
"It's the Fragrant Silk Immortal Herb! No wonder this area is free of toxic mist. It's because of this," she murmured, studying the plant before her.
The flower was a large, pale pink blossom with a lavender center. Its petals were crystal-clear, resembling delicate glass, and it emitted a faint, soothing fragrance. The stem was about ten centimeters long, and the entire plant seemed to shimmer with an otherworldly glow.
"I'll leave it for now and keep searching," the Blue Silver Emperor decided after a moment of admiration. She stood up and turned her attention to the side of the Extreme Ice Spring.
As she walked, she noticed various cold-attribute plants until she reached the center of the Extreme Ice Spring. There, she stopped in her tracks.
"The top-tier cold-poison immortal herb, the Octagonal Ice Crystal Grass!" she exclaimed, taking a cautious step back.
After a moment of thought, she glanced toward the opposite side, where the Extreme Fire Spring lay. She quickly made her way over, carefully avoiding the plants underfoot.
"Just as I thought. The top-tier fire-poison immortal herb, the Fiery Passionflower, is also growing at the center of the fire spring," she said, her expression one of satisfaction as she confirmed her earlier suspicions.
"What treasures!" she exclaimed. Summoning her Blue Silver Grass martial spirit, she extended a vine-like tendril to carefully pluck the Fiery Passionflower.
With the same method, she returned to the Octagonal Ice Crystal Grass and harvested it as well.
"Xiao Ming is a pure attack-type soul master with incredible offensive power, but his physical defense is relatively weak. These herbs will help him strengthen his body," she thought to herself, holding the two immortal herbs in her hands.
"A'Yin must have obtained the dual treasures of ice and fire," Lin Yongming murmured softly.
"Xiao Ming! Come down here. I've got something good for you," the Blue Silver Emperor's cheerful voice called up to him.
"Really? What is it? I'm coming!" Lin Yongming replied, leaping down to the valley floor with ease.
He quickly made his way to her side. "A'Yin, what treasures did you find?"
"Remember how I told you that the waters of the Ice and Fire Springs can be used to temper the body, but they're filled with deadly toxins? Well, I've found the key to neutralizing those toxins. These are the top-tier cold-poison and fire-poison immortal herbs—the Octagonal Ice Crystal Grass and the Fiery Passionflower. By absorbing their medicinal properties, you can safely temper your body in the springs. This will not only enhance your physical strength but may also grant you immunity to extreme temperatures and poisons. You'll even be able to pass through the toxic mist surrounding this place without issue," she explained enthusiastically.
"Really?!" Lin Yongming's eyes widened in astonishment.
"Of course! But the process might be a bit painful," she warned.
"If that's the case, why don't you take them? You found them, after all," Lin Yongming suggested.
"What would I, a girl, do with such strong physical enhancements? Besides, my martial spirit is the Blue Silver Grass. These herbs won't have much effect on me. You're the one who needs them. Plus, there are other top-tier immortal herbs here," she explained.
"Hmph! I don't want my pure bloodline tainted by random things," she added inwardly, her tone slightly haughty.
"Alright then. How do I absorb their medicinal properties?" Lin Yongming asked, finally relenting.
"It's simple. Hold one herb in each hand, pluck their petals, and swallow them together. Once the ice and fire toxins start to take effect, jump into the center of the springs," she instructed, using her vines to present the herbs to him.
"I understand, A'Yin," Lin Yongming nodded.
"Also, this process will be extremely painful. But I believe in your resilience. You'll endure the clash of ice and fire within your body," she said encouragingly.
The vines she extended were already showing signs of the herbs' effects—one covered in frost, the other glowing red-hot. If not for her top-tier martial spirit, ordinary Blue Silver Grass would have been destroyed upon contact with these herbs.
Without another word, Lin Yongming reached out and took the herbs. The moment he touched them, a wave of alternating heat and cold surged through his hands. Without hesitation, he placed the petals in his mouth and swallowed them.
"They taste surprisingly good. I hope the effects aren't too intense," he thought, savoring the faint, pleasant aroma.
But within seconds, his expression changed. His body alternated between scorching heat and freezing cold, sweat pouring down his face and dripping onto the ground.
"Ah!" he cried out in pain as his clothes tore apart, falling to the ground in tatters.
The Blue Silver Emperor blushed and quickly turned away, though she managed to call out, "Xiao Ming, jump into the springs now!"
"Got it!" Lin Yongming gritted his teeth and leaped into the center of the springs with a splash.
Soon, the pain became unbearable, and his consciousness began to fade. "This isn't just pain—it's agony beyond comprehension," he thought.
"Xiao Ming, I believe in you," the Blue Silver Emperor whispered, her heart filled with worry as she watched him sink deeper into the water.
She knew there was nothing she could do to help him now. It was all up to him.
"It'll take some time for Xiao Ming to finish. I'll keep searching for other herbs," she decided, standing up and continuing her exploration.
As she wandered, she muttered to herself, "Hmm, Nine-Colored Purple Fungus. Not bad, but not great either."
"Phoenix Coronet Sunflower. A good find, but it's fire-attribute."
"Eight-Petal Immortal Orchid. Decent..."
"Oh! Water Jade Bone. This one's good, but it's still a bit too cold."
"Wow! Is that the Golden Silk Immortal Herb? This might be perfect for me."
"And this... the Tear of Longing. An auxiliary-type immortal herb. This should be able to cure Xiao Ming's blindness. I'll have him take it when he's done."
"Wait... Is that the king of all flowers, the ultimate treasure—the Heartbreak of Lovesickness? Am I seeing this right?"
"It's mine! It has to be mine!" she exclaimed, rushing over to the white-and-red flower and cradling it in her hands.
"But I don't know if I can make it recognize me as its master," she murmured, her expression falling as she noticed the small stone at its base.
"If only I hadn't let Xiao Ming take those two herbs. The Heartbreak of Lovesickness would have been perfect for him. It could boost his soul power by ten levels and even elevate his martial spirit," she lamented.
Holding the Heartbreak of Lovesickness, she lost interest in searching for other herbs and returned to the edge of the springs to watch over Lin Yongming.
"You have to succeed," she whispered, her heart filled with worry. The surface of the springs was eerily still, save for the occasional bubble. If not for those, she might have thought he hadn't survived.
Time passed, and the valley grew darker. The Blue Silver Emperor, drowsy from waiting, suddenly perked up as the water began to bubble vigorously.
"He's coming up!" she exclaimed, her sleepiness vanishing as she focused on the springs.
The water churned, and Lin Yongming's head broke the surface.
"I made it. My body feels stronger than ever. The violent energies of ice and fire are now part of me. To me, the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Springs are nothing more than slightly hot and cold water now," he thought, a smile spreading across his face.
"Xiao Ming, you're finally out!" the Blue Silver Emperor called out, relief and joy evident in her voice.
"A'Yin!" Lin Yongming shouted, using a burst of soul power to leap out of the water. He landed beside her in an instant.
"I thought I'd never see you again," he said, pulling her into a tight embrace.
"Me too. You were in there for nearly seven hours. I was so worried you wouldn't make it," she replied, dropping the Heartbreak of Lovesickness to the ground as she hugged him back, her voice trembling.
"A'Yin, I'm sorry for making you worry. It must have been agonizing for you," he said, gently stroking her hair.
"It's fine... as long as you're okay," she whispered, her heart finally at ease.
After a long moment, the Blue Silver Emperor suddenly gasped and pulled away, covering her eyes.
"A'Yin, what's wrong?" Lin Yongming asked, confused.
"Xiao Ming, your clothes!" she reminded him.
"Oh! Haha... I forgot," he said, quickly retrieving a set of clothes from his spatial soul tool and putting them on.
Fortunately, he always carried spare clothes. Otherwise, he might have had to borrow hers.
However, as he dressed, he noticed that his clothes no longer fit properly. The sleeves and pants were too short.
"Did I grow taller?" he wondered aloud, examining his now-too-small outfit.
"Wow, Xiao Ming, you've changed so much! You're taller than me by a head, and you look so much more handsome. You don't look like a ten-year-old anymore. The ice and fire tempering must have been a huge success," the Blue Silver Emperor said, her eyes shining with admiration.
"Really?" Lin Yongming smiled, pleased with the results. After the tempering, he had grown from around 170 centimeters to nearly 180 centimeters. No one would believe he was only ten.
Unfortunately, since he was already at the 40th soul power level and hadn't obtained his fourth soul ring, it was impossible to tell how much his soul power had increased.
Moreover, the tempering had fundamentally altered his physique. Even if someone tried to determine his age by examining his bones, they would find it impossible.
"Yes, your whole aura has changed," the Blue Silver Emperor said, nodding in approval.
"A'Yin, did you find any herbs suitable for yourself? I'll guard you while you absorb them," Lin Yongming asked.
"I found a few, but only two are truly suitable for me—the Golden Silk Immortal Herb and the Heartbreak of Lovesickness. Especially the Heartbreak of Lovesickness. It's known as the king of all flowers," she replied.
"Oh, where is it?" she wondered aloud, realizing she had dropped it earlier. She quickly picked it up.
"Then what are you waiting for? If it's the king of flowers, its effects must be incredible," Lin Yongming urged.
"Sigh... The king of flowers isn't so easy to claim. I'll need to see if it will recognize me as its master. Only then can I pluck it from the Seven-Absolute Stone," she said, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
"A'Yin, take your time. It's getting dark, and I noticed a small cave over there. Let's sit down and focus on making it recognize you," Lin Yongming encouraged.
"Alright," she agreed, deciding to calm her mind before attempting to claim the flower.
"Let's head up there."
The two of them climbed up to the small cave platform, using the uneven rocks as footholds.
Lin Yongming found a large stone and used his Thunder Blade to split it into two makeshift seats. He then started a small fire, and the two sat side by side.
"A'Yin, are you hungry? Should we eat first?" Lin Yongming asked.
"Not yet. I won't have an appetite until I've made the Heartbreak of Lovesickness recognize me," she replied softly.
"Alright. I'll leave you to it."
Lin Yongming nodded, silently hoping that the Blue Silver Emperor would succeed in claiming the ultimate treasure.
