Dragon Ball: Multiverse Travel

Chapter 2: The Dimensional Travel System

Bulma took out the Dragon Radar from her bag, something she hadn't used in nearly two years, and handed it to Goku. She sighed with a hint of regret, saying, "It's a shame I have to enroll in school today; otherwise, I would have loved to go on an adventure with you to find the Dragon Balls! I guess I'll have to wait for another time."

"School? With your intelligence, do you really need to go to school? Why not come with me to find the Dragon Balls instead?" Goku was unwilling to give up and tried his best to persuade Bulma.

"This time, I really can't. I've skipped too many classes before, and this semester, I absolutely have to focus on studying. After all, it's my final semester..." Bulma was clearly a bit helpless. Back when she used to go on adventures with Goku, she often skipped school. Although she came from a wealthy family and was undeniably a genius, constantly skipping school wasn't a good habit.

"In that case, I guess I'll have to go find the Dragon Balls on my own." Seeing that there was no way to convince Bulma, Goku was a little disappointed but quickly accepted the reality. He took the Dragon Radar, waved at Bulma and her mother, then activated his Flying Nimbus technique and soared out of the window.

"Oh my! I didn't know your boyfriend could fly!" Bulma's mother exclaimed in surprise, though her expression remained unusually calm.

"Mom, stop talking nonsense! Goku is not my boyfriend!" Bulma rolled her eyes at her mother. Watching Goku fly out the window, she wasn't the least bit surprised. Though it was unexpected, she had seen so much that it no longer fazed her.

"I never thought Goku would grow up to be so handsome! A boyfriend, huh? Maybe I should consider it..." Bulma murmured to herself as she watched Goku disappear into the horizon, her cheeks slightly flushed. Turning around, she headed downstairs. "Ugh, school again. So annoying..."

---

Flying through the sky, Goku activated the Dragon Radar and quickly discovered that the nearest Dragon Ball was only about four or five miles away. Without hesitation, he channeled his energy and sped off toward the southeast.

"This should be the area..." Goku examined the flashing dot on the radar and began searching the surroundings. The place was a barren wasteland, with nothing but sand and rocks.

After searching for a while, he finally spotted the first Dragon Ball lodged in a crack between some stones. "Great! It's the Three-Star Ball... I didn't expect it to be this easy!" Goku was thrilled and carefully examined the legendary Dragon Ball in his hands. "So this is the fabled Dragon Ball? It really does look just like in the anime! I never thought I'd be able to hold one in my lifetime. Heh, this is amazing—but also dangerous."

Thinking about the Evil Dragons from Dragon Ball GT, Goku felt a chill down his spine. Even though GT wasn't part of the main canon, who knew if such threats might actually exist?

"Looks like I should be careful with my wishes. Once I fulfill a few of my own, I should avoid using the Dragon Balls too much... Also, if I ever get the chance, I should head to the Lookout and find the Ultimate Dragon Balls. If they really exist, I should destroy them as soon as possible!"

Just as Goku was lost in thought, a giant beast resembling a pangolin suddenly burst out of the ground. It bared its enormous, razor-sharp teeth and lunged straight at him!

A foul stench hit Goku's nose, almost making him vomit on the spot. He shifted his body slightly, barely dodging the pangolin's attack. Seeing that its first strike missed, the beast immediately swung its thick, scaly tail toward Goku's face.

With quick reflexes, Goku grabbed the pangolin's tail and, using its own momentum, swung it like a sledgehammer, slamming it into the ground repeatedly.

"Damn, you almost made me puke! You really have a death wish!" Goku snorted coldly. The pangolin, now battered and bleeding from its seven orifices, was on the verge of death. With a final heave, Goku hurled it through the air, smashing it against a small mountain, which became its final resting place.

[Congratulations! You have slain a pangolin beast and gained 52 energy points! The 'Dimensional Travel System' has been activated]

Suddenly, a pleasant female voice rang in Goku's mind. At the same time, a translucent screen appeared in the top right corner of his vision:

[Energy Points: 52

Available Travel Destinations: None]

"This... This is...!" Goku was utterly stunned. "No way! Is this the legendary travel system? As long as I collect enough energy points, I can travel to other anime worlds at will? If that's true, then I've struck gold! Hahaha!"

After calming down, Goku tried communicating with the voice he had just heard, but there was no response. He also attempted to study the so-called "Dimensional Travel System," but aside from being able to toggle the virtual screen on and off, he couldn't figure anything else out.

"Looks like I'll need to gather more energy points and see what happens." With no further discoveries, Goku focused his attention on earning energy. He took off and left the area.

---

Arriving in a dense mountain forest, Goku began a one-sided massacre. On present-day Earth, aside from a few rare creatures, everything else was utterly defenseless against him.

In just over thirty minutes, Goku had collected 10,013 energy points. At that moment, the pleasant female voice rang out in his mind once again:

[Congratulations! Your energy points have exceeded 10,000! The Dimensional Gate has been activated, and you may now begin your dimensional travel]

Without needing to summon it, the virtual screen automatically appeared before him. The energy points displayed 10,013, and under the "Available Travel Destinations" section, a familiar name finally appeared:

[Highschool of the Dead]

Excited, Goku tapped on the name, and a dropdown menu appeared, listing a variety of anime worlds:

[Detective Conan

Crayon Shin-chan

School Days]

The list contained over a hundred worlds, though they all seemed to be relatively low-level settings. Each world required between 500 and 1,000 energy points to enter.

"Can I really travel to other worlds?" Goku muttered excitedly. He selected "Highschool of the Dead," prompting a virtual confirmation box to appear:

[Would you like to spend 1,000 energy points to travel to Highschool of the Dead? Yes / No.]

Without hesitation, Goku selected "Yes." Instantly, a radiant, swirling Dimensional Gate materialized before him.

[Please enter the Dimensional Gate within 10 seconds, or it will disappear. The energy points spent will not be refunded… 10… 9… 8… 7…]

Goku hesitated as he stared at the mysterious, multicolored portal before him.

[...5… 4… 3…]

"Screw it!" Goku gritted his teeth and, just as the countdown hit "1," he leaped into the Dimensional Gate.

With a flash, the portal vanished.

---

A deserted street filled with wandering zombies...

A multicolored portal flickered into existence, and a human figure slowly stepped out before it disappeared again.

Goku surveyed the eerie surroundings, his heart pounding with excitement. "Zombies? Did I really make it to Highschool of the Dead?"

Raising a single finger, he fired a golden energy beam that instantly pierced a nearby zombie's skull. A system prompt appeared:

[You have gained 1 energy point]

"Only 1 point? That's ridiculously low," Goku frowned. He glanced at the upper right corner of his vision—his energy points were now 9,014. The Main World Return Portal was also displayed but was grayed out, requiring 10,000 points to activate.

"So I just need to kill 986 more zombies to go back to the Dragon Ball world?" Goku smirked, cracking his knuckles. "Well then, let's get started."

Goku walked leisurely down the street. Every time a group of zombies approached him, he simply waved his hand, and an invisible surge of Ki swept them away, instantly converting them into energy points.

As he made his way through the city, leaving a trail of destruction behind him, Goku had already taken down several hundred zombies. He had gathered enough energy points to return to the Dragon Ball world. However, since he'd traveled to a new dimension, he figured he might as well explore a bit before leaving. And if this really was the world of Highschool of the Dead, he wouldn't mind bringing a few of its beautiful girls back with him.

The sounds of battle had drawn even more zombies toward him, but Goku remained unfazed. With their pathetic combat power of just 5, they weren't even capable of breaking through his defenses.

Without realizing it, Goku had arrived at the gates of a school. He glanced at the sign and immediately grinned.

"Fujimi Academy… If I remember correctly, that's the name of the school where the protagonists of Highschool of the Dead studied, right? So, this really is their world!"

Just thinking about the stunning, well-endowed women from the anime made his heart race with excitement. Back when he first watched Highschool of the Dead, he had certainly fantasized about those beautiful girls more than once!

Hearing the occasional sound of students studying from within the school, Goku smirked.

"Still hearing class in session? That means the zombie outbreak hasn't reached here yet... So the story hasn't started? Haha, now that's some good news."

With a casual jump, he leaped over the school gates and strolled toward the main building.

Meanwhile, outside the school, the horde of zombies that had been following Goku was getting closer and closer.

The first zombie slowly staggered toward the school gate, its arms outstretched as it slammed against the iron bars, completely oblivious to the obstacle in its path.

Four teachers—three men and one woman—rushed to the entrance. The female teacher, a stunning beauty with glasses, adjusted her frames and spoke with mild irritation.

"Sir, may I ask what you're doing?"

A bald male teacher, gripping a metal fork, scowled.

"Please stop causing trouble!"

However, his posture betrayed his nervousness—clearly, he wasn't the bravest among them.

The "man" at the gate ignored them completely, continuing to slam against the fence. Not surprising—after all, it wasn't a man at all, but a zombie. The gaping wound in its lower back was proof enough.

The beautiful teacher furrowed her brows, now visibly annoyed.

"I'm warning you—if you don't stop, I'll have to call the police!"

One of the male teachers, feeling overconfident, stepped forward to intervene.

"Relax, Miss Hayashi, there's no need to call the police. I'll handle this."

Rolling up his sleeves, he strode toward the zombie and grabbed its collar, yanking it back forcefully and slamming it against the gate. But instead of reacting, the zombie merely continued its mindless attempt to push forward, dragging the teacher's hand with it as it banged against the iron bars. The unpleasant, grating sound made the teacher's expression darken. Despite his efforts, he couldn't make the "man" stop.

Hayashi quickly interjected.

"Wait! Mr. Tejima, don't use violence!"

Tejima, now looking uneasy, responded, "No, it's not that—I can't overpower him… his strength is—"

Before he could finish, the zombie lunged forward and sank its teeth into his wrist. Blood spurted everywhere as Tejima let out a horrific scream.

"Aahhh! My hand! No—ahhh!!"

"Call… Call the police…!"

"Tejima! Stop struggling!"

"My flesh… It bit off my flesh!!"

Hayashi collapsed to the ground in terror. The bald teacher ran forward, desperately trying to stop the bleeding.

"We need to stop the blood loss! Someone go get the school nurse—Dr. Shizuka Marikawa!"

"Call the police! And an ambulance!"

"Tejima! Hang in there! Damn it—the bleeding won't stop!"

Moments later, Tejima's screams faded into silence. The teachers around him paled in horror.

The bald teacher stammered, "D-Dead? He's dead?"

Hayashi covered her mouth with both hands, her face filled with disbelief. "How… How could this happen?"

From the third-floor hallway, Goku had been observing the scene unfold below. His brow furrowed slightly.

"This scene looks familiar… Oh, right! This is the first episode of Highschool of the Dead, when the zombie outbreak starts at the school gate!"

His gaze shifted toward Hayashi, his eyes lighting up with interest.

"Wow, she's gorgeous! If I remember correctly, she got bitten and died in the anime, right? Hmm… That's a shame for such a beautiful woman."

He smirked.

"Guess I'll save her, then."

Suddenly, Tejima, who had been lying lifeless on the ground, twitched. His fingers began to move. His eyes snapped open—bloodshot and filled with madness. His face had turned a ghastly shade of black, making him look utterly terrifying.

Hayashi gasped in relief.

"Tejima! You're okay? Oh, thank goodness—"
