The Resistance ran deep into the underground tunnels, their heavy boots thudding against the damp metal floor. The stench of oil, rust, and decay filled the air, but none of them reacted—they were used to it. This was their sanctuary, their escape from the Supreme God's forces.
This time, however, Elsa Bloodstone suddenly stopped in her tracks. Her sharp eyes darted around the darkness, scanning the tunnel walls, the ceiling, the flickering lights overhead.
The soldiers behind her tensed. One of them, a bearded man gripping a rifle, stepped forward. "Why are we stopping?" he asked, his voice cautious.
Elsa didn't answer immediately. Her instincts screamed at her. Something—someone—was here.
"I feel like we're being followed," she finally said, her tone edged with suspicion.
A slow, amused chuckle echoed through the tunnels. "Impressive," a voice spoke from nowhere and everywhere at once. It was smooth, relaxed, as if the speaker had no concern for the dozens of guns now being raised in paranoia.
Elsa's grip tightened on her shotgun. "Who the hell is that?!" she shouted, scanning for movement.
"Down here."
Her eyes flicked downward. Her own shadow moved. The darkness stretched unnaturally, swirling like living ink, and then—he emerged.
Aiden Blake rose from the ground like a phantom stepping out of the void. His red eyes gleamed in the dim tunnel light, his white hair untouched by the grime of their world. Instantly, every gun in the room snapped to aim at his head, fingers resting on triggers.
Elsa didn't hesitate. She took a step forward and pressed her shotgun barrel right against his forehead. "Who are you? What are you? And what the fuck do you want?"
Aiden sighed, raising his hands lazily. "Relax. Didn't I just save your asses? Not exactly the gratitude I was expecting."
The guns didn't lower. Elsa's glare didn't soften. "Answer the damn questions."
Aiden exhaled through his nose, clearly unbothered. "Fine, fine. Name's Aiden Blake. I'm... literally from another world. I'm a Dragon." He smirked at their reactions before adding, "Well, more like a mutant Dragon Slayer, but close enough. And as for what I want? My dad's here somewhere. I need to find him."
Elsa's eyes narrowed. "You expect me to believe that a kid like you is that strong?"
Aiden's eye twitched. "I'm seventeen. Not a kid."
The bearded soldier stepped forward, pressing his rifle harder into Aiden's chest. "You talk too much. Shut up. We know you work with Thor"
Aiden's red eyes darkened. Suddenly, a searing heat pulsed through the air. Every soldier cried out, dropping their weapons as their hands burned. Metal clattered against the floor as the heat faded just as quickly as it came.
Elsa, however, didn't flinch. She still held her shotgun, her grip unwavering—even as her hands sizzled and the stench of burnt flesh filled the air.
Aiden's gaze locked onto her. "I'm being nice because I feel bad for you people," he said coolly. "But push me again, and I will turn every single one of you into charcoal."
Silence. No one moved. No one spoke.
Then, slowly, Elsa exhaled. She lowered her gun.
"I know someone who might be able to help you," she said. "Follow me."
Aiden tilted his head, then nodded. "Good choice."
A faint green aura shimmered around his hands. Elsa tensed as a strange, watery energy suddenly engulfed her burned hands.
Her first instinct was to attack—was this an enemy power?!—but then she realized something. The pain was gone. The raw burns? Healed.
Her eyes flicked back to Aiden, who merely shrugged. "Lead the way."
Without another word, Elsa turned, motioning for the others to move. But as she walked, her gaze lingered on Aiden for just a second longer.
This kid....this Dragon Slayer...was trouble.
....
Aiden followed Elsa and her soldiers through the dimly lit tunnels, his sharp eyes scanning every corner. Their boots echoed against the cold metal floors, but his steps were light, almost soundless. Eventually, they stopped near a rusted metal door, where one of the soldiers hesitated before turning to Elsa.
"Are we really just gonna trust this guy?" the soldier asked, keeping his voice low.
Elsa shrugged, resting her shotgun against her shoulder. "We don't have a choice. He's stronger, more powerful than us. If he wanted to find our base, he would've just followed us. Instead, he let us find him."
The soldier frowned. "No, you found him. Not the other way around."
Elsa smirked. "Is that so? Because I didn't sense him at all until that exact moment. That's textbook 'someone wanting to be found.'"
The soldier's lips pressed into a thin line, but he had no counterargument. Aiden simply chuckled, staying quiet as he observed the exchange.
They continued forward, approaching what looked like a dead end—until Elsa stepped toward the door. Without hesitation, she leaned in, allowing a scanner to read her eye. A second later, a panel extended outward, prompting her to press her hand against it. The machine hummed, and a small needle emerged, pricking her skin to draw a drop of blood.
Aiden raised an eyebrow. "Damn. This secure just to get home?"
As the machine completed its process, the door let out a loud click and slowly began to open. But instead of stepping inside, Elsa moved to the wall on the left. Without a word, she pressed her hand against a seemingly normal stone slab and gave it a firm push.
A soft rumble filled the air as the slabs shifted, revealing a hidden elevator.
Aiden crossed his arms. "Seriously? That secure?"
Elsa smirked. "With a god after us, we need to be."
Aiden leaned against the elevator frame. "And what would've happened if we took the other door?"
Elsa's grin widened. "You'd rather not find out."
The elevator doors slid open, and they stepped inside. As it descended, the numbers on the panel ticked downward at a rapid pace.
Floor 0.
Floor -10.
Floor -50.
Floor -70.
Floor -93.
It finally came to a halt. Aiden smirked, tilting his head. "Why not go all the way to -100?"
Elsa shot him a knowing look. "That's a trap, too."
The elevator doors parted, revealing a long, reinforced hallway. The soldiers immediately relaxed, the tension in their shoulders easing as they stepped forward.
Aiden walked alongside Elsa as she placed her hand on another scanner. The final door let out a small beep before sliding open.
Aiden smirked. "No extra traps?"
Elsa chuckled. "Nope. Welcome to the Midgard Resistance."
Beyond the door lay a massive, futuristic bunker. The place was practically a hidden city. Sleek metal walls housed various stations, and small robots zipped around, assisting people with maintenance. Unlike the grim tunnels above, the atmosphere here was lively. People moved with purpose, some smiling, others engaged in discussions. It was a sanctuary—a safe haven in a world that had long lost its peace.
As they stepped in, a group of armed soldiers approached. Leading them was a man with long hair, a silver metal arm, and a ridiculous number of guns strapped to his gear. His sharp eyes scanned the returning team before settling on Elsa. Then, finally, on Aiden.
"Who's the kid?" he asked, his tone blunt.
Elsa stretched her arms, her shotgun resting against her shoulder. "He's a Dragon."
The Man raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. Then his expression hardened. "Fine whatever....Anyways Valeria is Waiting for you"
Elsa Nudges Aiden to follow her and is about to move when the man speaks "Wait...You can't take the Newcomer to Valeria....He's too suspicious, we need to test if he's trustworthy"
Elsa waved a hand dismissively. "I already did. He's trustworthy."
The Man scoffed. "Bullshit. You should drop your little games, Elsa."
Elsa's expression didn't change. Instead, she gave him a sharp look and said, "Make me, Bucky."
The tension between them was thick enough to cut with a knife. Soldiers on both sides subtly shifted, preparing for an argument—or worse.
Aiden, however, was barely paying attention to their little power struggle. His eyes widened, the name finally clicking in his head.
He let out a small chuckle. "Bucky Barnes?"
Both Bucky and Elsa turned to him, their focus shifting.
Aiden grinned. "Yup. That's you, huh? Back in my world, they call you the Winter Soldier."
Bucky's jaw tightened, his gaze flicking back to Elsa for an explanation. She simply shrugged. "He's from another world."
Elsa Nods
Bucky let out a slow exhale. "Great..... Another one."
That phrase hit Aiden like a truck. His heart skipped a beat.
"Another one?" He grabbed Bucky's shoulders, his grip tight. "Who?! Where?! Is his name Jason?!"
Elsa sighed as she said "Relax. Your father's here."
Aiden let go of Bucky, his red eyes burning with urgency. "You should've told me sooner!"
Elsa shrugged again. "I couldn't trust you, even if you both share the Blake name."
Aiden clenched his fists before exhaling sharply. "Fine. Take me to him. Now."
Elsa nodded but hesitated. "Just know… you're not going to like what you see."
