Chapter 6: Chapter 4: Reunited
Charlotte's heart raced as she made her way through the crowd towards Ethan. She hadn't seen him in years, but the spark of recognition was instant.
As they met in the middle of the room, Ethan smiled and opened his arms. Charlotte hesitated for a moment before stepping into his embrace.
"It's so great to see you," Ethan whispered, his voice sending shivers down her spine.
Charlotte pulled back, her eyes locking onto his. "You too," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
They stood there for a moment, the noise of the party fading into the background. Then, Ethan took Charlotte's hand and led her to the bar.
"What can I get you?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
Charlotte smiled. "Just a glass of wine, please."
As they sipped their drinks and caught up on old times, Charlotte felt a sense of ease wash over her. It was as if no time had passed at all, and they were back to their old selves.
But as the night wore on, Charlotte began to notice the subtle changes in Ethan. The way he carried himself with more confidence, the way his eyes seemed to hold a deeper wisdom.
She wondered what had brought about these changes, and whether she'd have the chance to find out.
