Genshin Impact : Transmigrated as Liyue's Yin-Yang Archon

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: The Adepti of Jueyun Karst

Deep within Jueyun Karst

"Pfft—hahaha!"

Lumine covered her mouth, struggling to hold back her laughter.

"So you went all the way to Jueyun Karst alone, just to gather herbs because you ran out of Mora?"

Qiu Bai scratched his head awkwardly.

Lumine gave him a good-natured reminder.

"You know, taking a few commissions from the Adventurers' Guild would be much easier than coming all the way out here."

After all, that's what she did to make enough Mora to feed a certain floating companion.

Qiu Bai forced a laugh.

"Right… why didn't I think of that?"

His centuries of isolation had completely erased his sense of finances—but at least he wasn't as bad as a certain someone.

"Anyway, let's not get caught up in the details."

He then tilted his head slightly, feigning curiosity.

"What about you two? What brings you here?"

Paimon floated up excitedly.

"We're here to find the Adepti! The legendary ones!"

She and Lumine quickly explained the situation.

"So you were mistaken for assassins and now you need to prove your innocence?"

Qiu Bai rubbed his chin in thought before grinning.

"I'll go with you. After all, I know Jueyun Karst like the back of my hand."

With that, Lumine, Paimon, and Qiu Bai set off on their journey to find the Adepti.

As they ascended the mountain, a commanding voice suddenly echoed through the mist.

"Who are you, and why do you trespass in Jueyun Karst?"

Qiu Bai smile stiffened slightly when he heard the voice.

But the moment he turned his head to look

His smile vanished completely.

"What the Fu-?"

Standing before them were three figures:

A majestic brown crane, A creature resembling a deer, And a white-and-blue crane.

Mountains Shaper, Moon Carver, and Cloud Retainer.

"Why are all three of them together? That's not how the story is supposed to go!"

The one who had spoken was Moon Carver, who stood at the front.

Lumine, unfazed, took out a talisman and spoke softly.

"Please, take a look at this."

Moon Carver stepped forward, eyeing the talisman with interest.

"A 'Talisman of Absolute Protection' It has been many years since I last saw one of these. So mortals still possess remnants of them."

The Adeptus looked toward Lumine and spoke solemnly.

"I am Moon Carver, a Three-Eyed Five-Manifold Adeptus. Traveler, state your purpose."

Meanwhile, Cloud Retainer gaze shifted not toward Lumine, but toward Qiu Bai.

She narrowed her eyes, deep in thought.

"Strange, why does this one feel so familiar to me?"

"Have I seen this mortal somewhere before?"

Qiu Bai's body stiffened slightly under her scrutiny.

"No way that she recognizes me?"

He had completely suppressed his aura, ensuring that no one below the level of an Archon could detect him.

There was no logical way she should be able to sense anything unusual.

Trying to keep his cool, Qiu Bai finally spoke.

"Adeptus, why do you keep staring at me?"

He couldn't stand the way she was examining him so intently.

Cloud Retainer frowned slightly, tilting her head in confusion.

"This one merely feels strangely familiar to me."

Then, as if realizing she had been staring too long, she suddenly turned away with a huff.

"Hmph! Fine! If you find it so uncomfortable, I simply won't look at you!"

Her tone was sharp, but there was an unmistakable hint of tsundere awkwardness in her voice.

Qiu Bai coughed lightly, nodding in mild embarrassment.

Suddenly, the sound of armored footsteps echoed through the valley.

A squad of millelith soldiers rushed in from the path behind them, weapons drawn.

Leading them was their drill instructor, a seasoned officer with a hardened expression.

One of the soldiers turned toward their commander, voice uneasy.

"Sir, we've gone too deep into Jueyun Karst should we really—?"

The instructor gritted his teeth, glancing warily between the three Adepti and Lumine.

But in the end, he made his decision.

"We have no choice! Capturing the assassin takes priority!"

With that, the instructor charged forward, his soldiers following closely behind.

Moon Carver sighed, watching the approaching soldiers with mild disapproval.

"They disturb the tranquility of this land."

Then, he turned to the others and spoke calmly.

"Send them away. Do not take their lives."

Just as Lumine was about to step forward and fight, Qiu Bai gently raised a hand, blocking her path.

She looked at him in confusion.

"Why are you stopping me?"

Qiu Bai simply smiled, his tone casual.

"Leave it to me."

Then, he turned his gaze toward the charging Millelith Army.

With a simple wave of his hand the entire squad vanished.

For a moment, everything was dead silent.

Lumine and Paimon stared in disbelief, mouths hanging open, eyes wide.

Paimon frantically flew to where the soldiers had been, hovering in circles as if trying to make sense of what just happened.

Then, she zipped back to Qiu Bai, her golden eyes locked onto him in shock.

"Y-You! What did you just do?! Where did they go?!"

"How did they just disappear like that?!"

Qiu Bai, deep down, felt a sense of satisfaction.

"Finally! I got to show off in front of Lumine!"

Even though this was just a minor technique, it was more than enough to deal with ordinary soldiers.

He casually shrugged.

"I simply sent them out of Jueyun Karst. I didn't harm them you know."

Then, he added with an amused smirk:

"As for how I did it… just think of it as a little trick."

Hearing his explanation, Lumine was still struggling to process it.

"What kind of 'little trick' can just teleport people miles away?"

It had taken her and Paimon an entire day to reach this deep into Jueyun Karst and he just waved his hand and sent them all the way back?!

Lumine crossed her arms and let out a deep sigh.

"You really keep surprising me."

Paimon, on the other hand, suddenly perked up.

She clapped her hands together and started bouncing in the air excitedly.

"Oh! Oh! Then when we're done here, you can just wave your hand and send us back too!"

"No more walking back!"

She was so overjoyed at the thought that she started stomping her little feet mid-air, giggling to herself.

Lumine watching her, placed her hands on her hips.

"Paimon, that is NOT the main point here."

"Also, you don't walk. You FLY. I'M the one who gets tired!"

Meanwhile, behind them the three Adepti were just as shocked as Lumine and Paimon.

Even for beings as ancient and powerful as them Qiu Bai abilities were not something they had expected to see.

The three Adepti looked at Qiu Bai with curiosity.

"An Adeptus art? And one that even we have never seen before?"

"You are a mere mortal, why do you possess the arts of the Adepti?"

Their gazes were sharp, scrutinizing him closely.

Qiu Bai suddenly felt a bit awkward. He had almost forgotten that he was standing in front of three Adepti.

"Uh... It's a technique passed down from my ancestors."

"I didn't even realize it was an Adeptus art."

That was the best explanation he could give for now, he couldn't reveal his true identity just yet.

However, Cloud Retainer seemed to see through him.

She continued to stare at him, as if trying to confirm something.

Qiu Bai quickly avoided her gaze.

Lumine, who had been standing behind Qiu Bai, stepped forward and spoke with urgency.

"Adepti, we've come with important news!"

"Oh? What news?"

Mountain Shaper, perched on a large amber stone, narrowed his eyes as he listened.

Lumine took a deep breath and carefully recounted everything that had happened.

"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!"

"THE LORD OF GEO WAS ASSASSINATED?!"

The three Adepti were filled with rage.

Mountain Shaper spread his wings in fury, his entire body trembling.

"What power in this world could possibly assassinate the Geo Archon?!"

Moon Carver's expression was one of pure disbelief.

"OUTRAGEOUS! OUTRAGEOUS!"

"During the Rite of Descension, no less! How could anyone succeed in assassinating the Lord of Geo?!"

"And after his assassination, how could they shift the blame onto a mere traveler?!"

His voice grew colder, filled with disdain and disappointment.

"The Liyue Qixing is truly disappointing."

"How dare anyone commit such a heinous crime?!"

Moon Carver turned his gaze toward Lumine.

"Traveler, we now understand that you were falsely accused of this crime."

"We shall make our own judgment on this matter."

The weight of the information was overwhelming, even for these mighty Adepti, who had safeguarded Liyue for millennia.

They had never expected such an event to occur.

Lumine hesitated for a moment before gathering her courage to ask:

"Do you know anything about the missing Adeptus?"

At her question, the three Adepti exchanged glances, each with solemn expressions.

First the disappearance of an Adeptus

Then the death of the Geo Archon

Liyue was now standing on the edge of uncertainty.

"The Adeptus vanished some time ago."

"We have scoured all of Liyue, but we have found no trace of them."

Cloud Retainer's voice carried a subtle sorrow, but that sorrow quickly turned into anger.

Her eyes burned with rage as she turned towards Liyue Harbor's direction.

"The Liyue Qixing!"

"Hmph! This one shall personally descend upon Liyue Harbor and bring it under control!"
