God of Money: Reincarnated as the Weakest SSS Rank

Chapter 107: A divided city

Hardrial was sitting at his desk, reading some news about recent events in the city.

As usual, he had no students, something that had been typical in his life since his Destiny Path was that of an Armamentalist.

Although his power had grown to make him one of the most powerful men in the Empire, not only statistically but also magically, this had not changed.

None of that had prevented him from leading a solitary life.

No one chooses to be an Armamentalist by choice, except those who have no other option due to their life trajectory, and most of these are either not talented for the path or simply do not live past the age of 20.

That is why his life as a teacher is lonely. Even so, he has recently been getting used to the two new students who have come to him.

That made these days feel lonelier than usual.

He turned the page of the newspaper, reaching the main news.

'A radical change in the Clandestine Houses of the Industrial District, huh.' One of the headlines was of little interest to him, so he continued reading the next one.

-Revolutionaries wreak havoc on an industry in the South.

-Church agents have killed 32 Revolutionaries and found a false conservative among them.

-The Revolutionaries defended themselves against an attack and killed 13 members of the Church's Order of Knights and Mages.

The headlines were interesting, revealing a little of the reality of the city behind each wall.

Those who oppose change constantly try to suppress those who seek it, and since they are almost always in power, it is difficult to stop them.

Revolutionaries, conservatives, the Order of Knights and Mages of the Asoist Church... All of them are in constant battle.

But there are others who are engaged in a struggle of interests and a constant exchange of wisdom against the conservatives.

-The Scientific and Alchemical District is currently one of the country's economic and academic powerhouses, which opens up the debate. Why oppose them? Why do the Conservatives refuse to work with the Scientists and Alchemists of the West?

It is said that the Scientific and Alchemical District sponsors the Revolutionaries of the Industrial District and has even managed to infiltrate the Upper District.

However, the Scientific and Alchemical District has managed to surpass the Upper District in economic terms.

Although they are practically the same city, the entire city is now fragmented because of the Conservatives, the Asoist Church, and the nobles.

On one hand, the Upper District is ruled by the Church, the Three Castles, and their nobles. They believe in the Arkantes Gods and everything that the Asoist Church proclaims. Not counting the First Castle, which has its own beliefs.

The Industrial District is controlled by the Revolutionaries and the local Mafias. There are many beliefs in this District, as the Revolutionaries believe that everyone can believe in whatever they want, as long as they do not do evil or destroy the city.

However, the main belief in this district is the Industrial God of Steam.

The Scientific and Alchemical District has not defined its beliefs, but it favors the Revolutionaries. These beliefs do not clash with any of the local beliefs. Many believe in the Human Gods, and the largest organizations in that place vehemently worship the God of Thunder.

Even so, they firmly believe in scientific progress. To sum them up, they are the Researching Mages who are also found in the Upper District. Their force is mainly made up of renowned Sorcerers.

Finally, there is the Money District, which does not have a specific name, but that place is Consumerism at its finest, so it was given a "mundane" name.

Cities such as Velfast and others belong to the same district. In general, they lean toward the Upper District and have strong ties to the Second Castle.

The first three Districts are the most divided, and wars are frequent between groups with different beliefs. This opens up many debates that appear in the newspapers every day.

Who is right?

No one knows. Or they know implicitly, but they are afraid to accept it.

And today's news was spicy in that regard, as there was a lot of news from the South.

-The birth of the Industrial God of Steam will soon be celebrated. Although there are still a few months to go, his followers are already beginning to prepare.

'It's that time of year again, eh. I just hope that this time things don't end in catastrophe like last time,' thought Hardrial, sighing heavily.

He read a few more things, but was suddenly interrupted by the sound of the door.

He thought someone had come to find him to tell him something, but when he looked up, his face lit up and he stood up. He put the newspaper on the table and smiled.

"You're back!" He greeted them.

Louis and Laura returned his greeting: "Professor Hardrial. We apologize for not being able to come sooner."

"Hahaha, it's okay. You were in the Tower; it's normal to spend a few of days there, " he said and approached them. "How was it? What floor did you reach?" he asked quickly.

"It was the 20th floor, Professor." Louis took out the badge he had been given and showed it to him.

Hardrial smiled broadly as his eyes sparkled brightly.

"The 20th floor on the first try..." he thought.

"Not bad, that's incredible. Have you noticed any improvements or discoveries? Tell me how you felt and what you noticed inside the tower," he said, guiding them to their seats.

Louis and Laura then began to tell him everything that had happened inside.

To begin with, he was stunned that they had been assigned those missions.

Floor 10 rarely issues missions for that Pantheon or the Cave, as these are difficult dungeons for beginners to pass, and the items given in those two dungeons are very... rare.

They're almost useless.

But what about Farenhirtz Castle?

'Whenever a mission is issued for that place, everyone ends up dead, so it's rarely given to any group,' he thought.

He didn't remember correctly, but he was almost sure no one had ever made it through that dungeon. After all, that place is also known as the Ancient Castle and has mysteries that no one knows about, mainly because no one has ever come out of there alive.
