Chapter 110: She wants to pave her own way
Louis smiled.
"I see you have an impressive talent for design. Why not work in that field? With your designs and my support, you could even revolutionize the fashion world." He said with complete sincerity.
She smiled even more and sat down next to him.
"About that..."
She took out some documents and showed them to him. "Can I have your permission to do this?" she asked, then added, "Everything is ready, I just need your permission."
Louis raised his eyebrows curiously and took the documents she was giving him.
They were about creating a business of decent size, more like a small company selling elegant clothes, but even more than that.
They would sell their own designs, customized and sewn by themselves, also with partnerships with other elegant clothing stores throughout the Industrial District.
She had hired 10 seamstresses, 5 tailors, and 2 specialized designers and was training 5 clothing models. In addition, there were 2 embroiderers and other necessary staff, such as security personnel.
She had even rented a location to set up shop and was already rushing to remodel it with the help of Mr. Gon, the blacksmith.
The store had a "back room" where bullets, weapons, and other items created by Mr. Gon would be sold.
Louis hadn't expected it, but after reading the initial documents, he found several designs at the end.
"Those are the standard designs we'll be selling. There are more customized and premium ones toward the end..." She carefully showed him each one.
There were designs for women, men, and children. Their three designers were quite skilled at customized interior and exterior design, so they even offered customized interior and exterior design deals.
'This woman is amazingly good at business,' thought Louis, having read quite a bit.
What's more, the standard designs were quite good, and the premium ones even better. They looked like haute couture designs, created specifically for the city's nobles or millionaires.
The thing was, she had done it in such a short time that it made him realize she was also a great talent in this world—a different kind of talent than his, a different kind of talent than that man he met playing pool.
"Where is this?" Louis asked.
"Rainbow Street, Lord Louis. I plan for it to be there. I've already rented the entire building, although it was a bit expensive, I have a year to collect all the money for the next payment."
"I have confidence in the two businesses I'm creating; I'm sure they will be of great help to you," she said.
He looked up, curious. He didn't care whether this would help him or not; honestly, he already supported her creation. But he was curious about what she said.
She noticed his hesitation, so she spoke.
"There is no better spy than one who can blend in with high society," she replied firmly. That was the motto she had learned during her years as a spy.
His eyes sparkled with curiosity. "You're right. The best spies are those who earn the respect of society." He smiled.
He felt a great need to see what Jessy would become in the future, as she herself seemed to want to pave her own way.
"Are you an Awakened One, Jessy?" he asked suddenly.
Although she felt confused, she shook her head. "No, Lord Louis. I have no talent."
Louis smiled and stood up. He lifted her chin and smiled at her. "Nothing in this world that can't be bought, Jessy. Believe me, there's nothing that can't be bought."
After that, he turned around. "Let's go. Take me to that place on Rainbow Street. I'll talk to the owner of the establishment. Let's make your little business venture into something big."
Louis saw that he had completed his mission to return to the mansion, so he created another one. One to go to that place and complete some things he had in mind.
Somehow, this new one would reward him 20 coins, so he was completely satisfied.
Although she didn't understand his initial words, upon hearing him, she was happy and immediately got up and began to guide him.
As he walked, he told him that Mr. Gon had said that if he let them create that business, all the bullets and other things he wanted to get from him would be free.
Therefore, if he wanted, he could get them for free.
Now, he did not want that, as it would reduce his stats points.
Everything he got for free would be equivalent to weakening himself. He needed to spend money to earn stat points, not earn or save money.
They walked through the Industrial District. The difference between the mansion and the rest of the place was incredible now. Outside, everything was gray, the sound of the factories was exhausting, and the smoke was so thick that it was difficult to breathe.
Luckily, Rainbow Street is one of the cleanest streets in the Industrial District. It is where most businesses are located, and there are actually more than four streets with the same name.
There are all kinds of businesses here, and many people are walking up and down, looking for things to buy in luxury stores and low-end shops.
The place Jessy had rented was on the main street, so its cost was naturally high, and it was also very well located in this area.
Only...
Even after Jessy's renovations, it was slightly run-down.
"Do you need more money to remodel further?" he asked, curious if that was the reason.
She smiled sheepishly. "Well... It's complicated. We need money to pay the suppliers. Although Mr. Gon has contacts, the cost is still high, despite significantly lowering it."
He looked at her. "If I'm not mistaken, what you need is part of what the House of the Ancient Moon's secondary companies provide to this district's southern region, right?"
"The House of the Ancient Moon? Oh, yes," she said quickly. "They are the main suppliers of haute couture fabrics and threads in this area."
"Then why don't you use my status? I've told you before that you are my ambassador; you can get that for free if you want."
"Your status?" She frowned.
What status? What was he talking about?
Although she did remember him telling her that from now on, she would be his Ambassador, was there something else?
He then stared at her and suddenly frowned.
'Wait, did I tell her that I'm the new owner of the two local Houses?' he thought.
The more he remembered, the more he realized that, although he had discussed several things with her before leaving for the Tower, he hadn't actually told her about his new status.
