Chapter 21: Chapter 21 The Restricted Section
"I remember the Room of Requirement is on the eighth floor," Light walked through the castle, recalling the plot in his mind.
"This should be the place!" Light stood in front of a blank wall, with a tapestry depicting a troll hanging behind.
"I need The Library," Light concentrated on what he wanted. He walked back and forth in front of the wall three times, and a door appeared on the originally blank wall.
When Light pushed the door open and entered, the door closed behind him. Rows of bookshelves were neatly arranged in front of Light's eyes, but the bookshelves were completely empty, without a single book.
Light sighed, his hopes were dashed.
'Sure enough, it was wishful thinking. I thought that since Slytherin left the basilisk, Ravenclaw ought to have left a lot of magic books representing wisdom! Or is there some special condition for leaving items that I haven't met?'
"Well, the next step is to scout the place and prepare to steal books during the midnight," Light left the Room of Requirement after verifying his guess and headed towards The Library.
Light arrived at the Dark Magic book section of The Library. He casually picked up a book to cover his face expression and started to keep an eye on the Restricted Section beside him.
There was a rope hanging in front of the Restricted Section. According to the information Light had gathered, "It has been enchanted with Spells. People who haven't received permission can't directly step over it or damage it. Once a young wizard touches it without permission, they'll be bounced back, and the front desk administrator will be notified."
Light looked at the magical item in front of him, turned around and left, then hid in a corner and began his experiment.
With the Levitation Charm cast by the wand hidden in his right hand, he controlled the quill that had been enchanted with the Disillusionment Charm to float above the rope and finally stopped five or six meters directly above the rope.
Then it slowly descended, testing the defensive range of the rope.
Finally, when the quill dropped to two meters above the rope, it was suddenly bounced away by an inexplicable force.
Light watched as he controlled the quill to float back and cast the Disillusionment Charm on himself by the way.
Just as Light picked up the quill, Madam Pince, the librarian, came to the Restricted Section. First, she scanned the surroundings with an angry expression, then inspected the rope with a puzzled look, and finally left the Restricted Section looking confused.
"It seems that if you're two meters above the rope, you won't be blocked, but how can I jump that high?" Light began to recall the Spells he knew.
"This is troublesome. I can't believe I'm defeated by such a comical defensive measure," Light waited there, thinking for a long time but couldn't think of a spell that could make him jump that high.
"There's no such thing as a Flying Spell in Harry Potter. The threshold for flying is very high. To fly, it's either a high - difficulty Spells or a flying item. Students who can own flying items or Spells basically don't need to sneak around to steal books. They can just ask the professor for a borrowing permit."
"This defensive measure is simply to prevent young wizards who have nothing better to do," Light knitted his brows as he thought of this.
After thinking for a long time, Light murmured to himself, "Perhaps this will do."
Then Light returned to the Room of Requirement again. 'I need a place where I can practice Spells.'
Light pushed the door open. The bookshelves that were originally neatly arranged had turned into a spacious and bare room. There was a row of dummies and a pile of frisbees placed along the edge of the wall.
Light started to practice the Levitation Charm. The plan was simple. Just make himself float across. But this required a high level of control and a great deal of practice.
"Ouch, it hurts, ah!"
Screams and the sounds of falling echoed throughout the empty Room of Requirement.
After a long time, Light, who was disoriented from all the falls, dragged his weak body out of the school infirmary and headed towards the dormitory.
After fobbing off Ron and Harry Potter, Light lay on the bed and rested, getting ready for his actions at night.
...
At midnight, Light quietly got up from the bed. Looking at his roommates who were snoring loudly, Light cast a Disillusionment Charm on himself and then left the dormitory.
Light walked out of the Gryffindor passage. Glancing at the painting, he found that the Fat Lady who guarded the passage had her eyes closed and seemed to be asleep.
Light had expected her to be lax. After all, nocturnal rambling was a Gryffindor tradition.
Light stepped towards the The Library. At midnight, Hogwarts was extremely quiet. The passageway was completely dark, and he could only barely see the road by the occasionally lit candles.
Light walked through the corridor. Hidden by the Disillusionment Charm and with his steps deliberately slowed down, none of the portraits in the corridor noticed that a young wizard had walked right under their noses.
"Alohomora," Light opened the door of the The Library and then closed it behind him.
The The Library at night was different from the day. Without the sound of turning pages, the The Library was even quieter. Inside, it was completely pitch-black and impossible to see.
"Lumos," the light on the wand showed Light the way forward.
Light quickly walked to the Restricted Section and stopped in front of the rope.
The light on the wand in his hand disappeared. Moments later, Light started to float unsteadily. He floated over the rope and then slowly landed again.
Light looked at the Restricted Section. The Restricted Section wasn't much different from the outside. The books were neatly arranged on the bookshelves.
The wand lit up again. Light looked at the neatly arranged books by the light.
[*The Learning Process of Animagus*], [*Mysterious Alchemy*]... [*Dark Magic - Fiendfyre Curse*]...
Looking at these Spells books, Light unconsciously swallowed his saliva and forcefully suppressed the restlessness in his heart. He was searching for the book he needed.
[*The Causal Relationship between Legilimency and Occlumency*], "Found it," Light felt a surge of joy when he saw this book.
He took the book out from the bookshelf. Just as Light wanted to open it to see if it recorded the Spells he wanted.
For some reason, the book suddenly opened by itself. The pages kept turning, and Light's gaze was involuntarily attracted. It was as if his spirit was about to be drawn into the book.
"Bang," Light dropped his wand and forcefully closed the book with both hands. After gasping for breath for a long time, Light felt a sense of fear. A cold sweat broke out on his back.
"Some forbidden knowledge has terrifying power. I don't know what would happen if my spirit was pulled into the book," Light looked at the book with a bitter smile.
"I'd better leave first. After learning all the content in this book, I'll come back for the others," Light looked at the book in his hand and made up his mind, still a bit scared.
The Disillusionment Charm continued to take effect, but its target was not the dormitory but the Room of Requirement.
"Try to master Occlumency. Then you can show off in front of Voldemort tomorrow." The ambitious Light started reading books in the reading room that the Room of Requirement had transformed into.
Light slowly opened the book. The book that still wanted to cause trouble was suppressed by the well-prepared Light. He used the wand in his right hand to cast a Stupefy on it.
Resisting powerlessly, it exposed everything to Light's eyes.
"'What? Occlumency is White Magic, and it has to be learned together with Legilimency.'"
After finishing the book, Light involuntarily showed a surprised expression.
