Harry Potter: The Hogwarts Acceptance Letter

Chapter 8: Chapter 8 Weasley and Scabbers

"The movement of your wand is too broad. Be gentler. Try again." Light gave Harry his eighth instruction.

"Wingardium Leviosa," Harry attempted for the tenth time.

The tissue paper slowly floated up and fluttered in the air following the movement of Harry's wand.

"You're excellent. You learned it so quickly," Light complimented.

Harry controlled the tissue paper to land back on the table and said gratefully,

"I could learn it because of your guidance. Otherwise, I don't know when I would have been able to use Spells."

Hearing Harry's words, Light said seriously, "I mainly just gave you some guidance. Being able to use Spells is mostly due to your talent."

"So be more confident. A believing heart is the Spells within you."

Light, who was giving Harry a motivational speech, was a bit puzzled. Clearly, he was the first to teach the Savior Spells. Why didn't he get any Mileage Points? Could it be that the Levitation Charm wasn't worthy of it?

Just as Light was trying to figure out how to get Mileage Points, the door of the compartment was suddenly pulled open. Light instinctively looked over.

There stood a red-haired boy with his luggage at the door, looking at the two people in the carriage who were holding wands and both looking at him simultaneously.

The red-haired boy swallowed hard and asked in a trembling voice,

"Excuse me, is there still a seat available here? The other carriages are full. If there's no room, I can go and squeeze in with my family."

Seeing Ron, who seemed on the verge of tears, Light put away his wand and said with a smile,

"There's an empty seat. Come in and sit down! We were just practicing Spells. Don't be scared."

Harry also nodded with a smile.

Hearing Light's words, Ron visibly let out a sigh of relief. Then he happily brought his things in and placed them neatly, sitting down next to Light.

Just then, the compartment door was pushed open again. Two twins with the same red hair as Ron and identical appearances poked their heads in.

"Hi! Hello, we're Ron's older brothers."

Seeing Ron sitting in the compartment, the twins greeted as they walked in.

The two walked over to Ron's side and introduced themselves to Light, who was sitting with Ron. "I'm Fred Weasley." As he said that, he stretched out his right hand.

"I'm George Weasley." As he stretched out his right hand, he gestured vaguely at Ron and said, "This is Ron Weasley. The youngest in our family."

"Hello! I'm Light Rogers," Light shook hands with Fred and George respectively.

After shaking hands, the twins addressed Ron,

"Ron, let's go to the middle carriage together. Lee Jordan got a really huge paper bag spider."

Just as the twins were about to pull Ron away, Fred casually saw Harry and suddenly shouted.

He let go of Ron, who was being pulled, and excitedly pointed at the lightning scar on Harry Potter's head that wasn't covered by his hair.

Seeing Fred so excited, George looked in the direction of his finger at Harry Potter.

Seeing this, Harry Potter lifted his hair very skillfully, showed the scar and introduced himself, "I'm Harry Potter."

Ron, who had been lifted up and then dropped by the twins, exclaimed in disbelief, "You're 'Harry Potter', the savior who defeated the Dark Lord in the legend."

The three Weasleys stared intently at Harry. Sensing their intense gazes, Harry said uncomfortably,

"I only remember a whole bunch of green lights. I can't recall anything else. Hagrid told me everything else."

Hearing this, Fred and George exchanged a look, and then George said excitedly,

"Come on, Fred. We have to tell everyone that 'Harry Potter' is enrolling at Hogwarts this year." With that, he dragged Fred out of the carriage.

At this moment, only Ron was left in the carriage, still staring at Harry.

Light felt a chill down his spine when he saw the two of them staring intently at each other. Then he said, "Ron, could you close the carriage door for me? I'm sitting by the window and I can't reach it."

Ron snapped out of his daze and immediately went to close the carriage door.

After closing the door, Ron seemed to realize his rudeness just now. Back at his seat, he lowered his head and remained silent.

An awkward atmosphere lingered in the carriage. Unable to stand the tension, Harry asked Ron somewhat nervously, "Are all your family members wizards?"

Ron replied, "Yes. I'm the sixth person in my family to attend Hogwarts. The eldest, Bill and Charlie, have already graduated."

"Bill was the head boy (equivalent to the president of the student union) when he was at Hogwarts, and Charlie was the captain of the Quidditch team. Now Percy is already a prefect."

"Although Fred and George are naughty, they both get good grades, and they're very popular among everyone."

"Everyone hopes that I'll be as outstanding as my older brothers, and so do I. But even if I'm as good as them, no one will think I'm anything special because they've already achieved it before me."

"And you know what? With five older brothers, you'll never get to use new things. I got Bill's old robe, Charlie's old wand, and Percy's unwanted rat."

Ron blurted out all the details of his family affairs like spilling the beans. At the same time, he took the rat out of his pocket, as if to prove what he was saying.

"His name is Scabbers. He's been living in my house for twelve years. Now he's good for nothing and sleeps all day long."

"This was when Percy became a prefect. My dad gave him an owl, and since it seemed a pity to discard the rat, he gave it to me."

Ron looked at the sleeping rat in his hand and said self-mockingly.

Light looked at the rat and knew that its real identity was Peter Pettigrew, who was faking his death. Light didn't plan to expose its identity for now.

After all, its identity was too special and the implications were too great.

After Ron showed Scabbers to Harry and Light, he carefully held it in his arms.

Knowing that Scabbers was actually a sleazy and vulgar, bald, and foot-scratching middle-aged man, Light felt uncomfortable.

Seeing how much Ron cherished this rat, Harry couldn't help but ask curiously,

"With so many wizards in your family, do you know all that many Spells?"

Hearing Harry's question, Ron said a little awkwardly, "I don't know all that many Spells."

Just yesterday, I still wanted to turn it yellow to make it look better. Unfortunately, my Spells didn't work."

After saying that, Ron took out his wand, pulled out Scabbers, and began to cast the spell: Daisies, butter, and sunbeams, turn this silly fat rat yellow.

Scabbers, who was originally held in Ron's hand, started to turn yellow on its back, but then the yellow slowly faded away, returning to its original appearance.

Ron said disappointedly, "Just like this. It had some effect, but then it changed back."

Seeing this scene, Light had a guess.

"It seems that remaining in animal form for a long time will gradually make one lose their human consciousness. The Spells Ron used was too weak. It shouldn't have had any effect on an animal that was originally human, but now it had some effect. Although it quickly disappeared, it also shows that it is transforming into a rat."

Combining his own knowledge with the original book, Light made a basic speculation about the 'Animagus' Spells that allows people to turn into animals.
