A Quiet Afternoon in the Common Room

Inside the Ravenclaw common room, the soft glow of enchanted lanterns illuminated the high-arched windows, casting an elegant blue tint across the room. The atmosphere was peaceful, filled with the rustling of parchment and the soft whispers of students discussing their studies.

Unlike the other houses, where students often gathered in groups to chat or play games, Ravenclaws preferred intellectual pursuits. Some were buried in books, others were solving riddles, and a few engaged in quiet debates about magical theory.

David ignored the curious glances from his roommates, Terry, Michael, and Gene, and walked straight to another part of the common room.

He had no interest in idle chatter. Instead, he was drawn to a quiet corner where a girl with long black hair and dark eyes sat reading a book.

"Senior, may I sit here?"

David held a copy of Alternative Spells of Transfiguration in his hand and smiled politely at the older student.

The girl, Cho Chang, looked up, slightly surprised.

"Oh, sure," she said, moving over to give him more space.

David had heard about Cho before. She was one of the most talented second-year students and was known for her sharp mind and graceful presence. Unlike the portrayal in certain stories, she had a fresh, elegant beauty that set her apart.

Most of the seats in the common room were already occupied. Ravenclaws valued their time, and when there were no classes, many of them preferred to study here or in the library.

If David had to choose between sitting with his roommates or with an older student, he would obviously pick the one with more knowledge.

He wasn't here to waste time.

As he settled in, he immediately flipped open his book, scanning the pages with intense focus.

On the other side of the room, Terry, Michael, and Gene were whispering among themselves, watching David carefully.

They were struggling with their Transfiguration homework—a one-foot parchment due by Wednesday—and had hoped to discuss it with David.

After all, during the morning class, it was David's explanation that had helped them avoid turning their matchsticks into charcoal.

But instead of sitting with them, he had gone off to chat with a senior again.

"Unbelievable," Michael muttered. "This guy is always ahead of us."

"Yeah, and now he's just casually talking to Cho Chang? What kind of luck is that?" Gene sighed.

Terry shook his head. "At this point, I'm starting to think he chose Ravenclaw for a completely different reason."

The three of them exchanged knowing looks.

There was a common belief at Hogwarts—among all the houses, Ravenclaw had the highest number of attractive students.

If there was one house that received more love letters than any other, it was Ravenclaw.

Was that why David had chosen this house?

A Conversation with Cho Chang

"You're not doing your homework?" Cho asked curiously, glancing at David.

She gestured toward the other Ravenclaw students who were busily writing on their parchments.

It was well known that Ravenclaws never left their homework unfinished overnight. Unlike Gryffindors, who often procrastinated until the last minute, Ravenclaws preferred to finish everything the same day it was assigned.

David smiled slightly and shook his head.

"I don't need to," he said casually. "I've already completed today's Transfiguration assignment."

Cho raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

As a second-year student, she still remembered how challenging it had been to perfectly transfigure a matchstick into a needle.

None of the students in her year had managed it on their first attempt.

In fact, it had taken her two weeks—three full classes—before she had succeeded.

But David had done it in a single lesson.

"So, the Sorting Hat really couldn't decide where to put you," she mused. "Your talent is impressive."

David chuckled but didn't respond.

Instead, his eyes flickered toward the book in Cho's hands—Flying with the Artillery Team.

It was a book about Quidditch.

"You're thinking about trying out for the team?" David asked knowingly.

Cho nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! The selections are happening in a few days, and I want to be prepared. My goal is to become a Seeker."

David smirked. "With your skills, you'll make it for sure."

Cho smiled brightly, feeling encouraged.

In the original timeline, she had indeed become the Seeker for Ravenclaw's Quidditch team.

So, David already knew she would succeed—it was just a matter of time.

Cho extended her hand.

"Since we'll be seeing more of each other—Cho Chang."

David shook her hand, his grip firm.

"David Adrian."

From across the room, Terry, Michael, and Gene watched the interaction in disbelief.

"That was fast," Terry muttered.

"Are all seniors this easy to talk to?" Michael asked, scratching his head.

Gene sighed. "I don't know, but I'm starting to think that David had a different reason for picking Ravenclaw."

The three of them exchanged another look.

Maybe it wasn't just about intelligence.

A Tense Afternoon Class

Later that afternoon, the second class of the day was History of Magic.

After the brutal display of skill in Transfiguration that morning, Harry and Ron had finally learned their lesson.

For once, they weren't late to class.

But before they had arrived, they had already had a heated argument with Draco Malfoy.

Things had nearly escalated into a full duel—if it weren't for the fact that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Ever since David's arrival, the tension between Harry and Draco had been even stronger than in the original timeline.

Their rivalry had intensified.

Before sitting down, David greeted both Hermione and Cassandra.

Cassandra nodded in response.

Among all the students at Hogwarts, she considered only David to be a worthy rival.

Because of that, she treated him differently than others.

If anyone else had greeted her, she would have ignored them completely.

Hermione, on the other hand, puffed out her cheeks in frustration.

She still hadn't forgotten what she had seen that morning—David and the female Head of Ravenclaw House talking and laughing together at breakfast.

And now, at lunch, it had been an Asian girl instead.

It was frustrating!

She had known David before anyone else, and yet, every time she saw him, he was already speaking to someone else.

To make things worse, every time she talked to him, he either made fun of her teeth or called her "big front teeth".

It was infuriating!

The Dullest Lesson in Hogwarts

The bell rang.

A ghost floated into the room, looking ancient and half-transparent.

Professor Cuthbert Binns—the only teacher at Hogwarts who was literally a ghost—began his lecture.

Within ten minutes, at least a third of the students had already fallen asleep.

Others whispered quietly or played Wizard Chess on the back of their parchments.

David rested his head on the table, closing his eyes.

He had no intention of paying attention to the lecture.

Instead, he was mentally preparing for tonight's adventure—a secret night tour of Hogwarts.

When class finally ended, Professor Binns left as suddenly as he had arrived, leaving behind yet another homework assignment.

David sighed.

Another dull class was over.

But tonight?

Tonight would be far more interesting.
