Chapter 137: Vampires (14)
When I left the territory of the vampires, I was followed by Malphis and Morgan.
Malphis was an extra, but Morgan was the one that was representing the vampires by following me back to the base that I had built.
He would be serving as the liaison between me and the vampires.
After all, I had been able to force the vampire tribe to fall under me.
It was also because I had done this that Malphis wanted to follow me.
The way that he looked at me was completely different from before. Even the way that he addressed me was completely different from before.
"Big brother, is the place that we're heading to your place?"
Somehow, he had taken me as a brother figure and was treating me as if I was his actual brother.
Damon had wanted to follow as well because of this, but I forced him to stay since I didn't want too many pureblooded vampires following me.
If there were too many of them with me, it was only natural that it would draw attention and that was the last thing that I wanted.
Just the vampire tribe wouldn't be enough to solidify my place as the demon king, so I couldn't make my move too early.
But there was no doubt that the vampire tribe did make me stronger.
After all, I had absorbed their pure vampire blood essence to make the Sanguine Bracelet stronger.
The Sanguine Bracelet was the reason that I had been able to make the vampire tribe fall under me in the first place. After all, the Sanguine Bracelet had a special effect that most people didn't know about.
Demon King Balkor was the demon king known for his slaughter of his fellow demons, so he was a demon king that had made plenty of enemies. That was the reason why the vampire tribe wasn't as big as it used to be since they had suffered after Demon King Balkor fell.
Because of all the enemies that he had made, it was only natural that he didn't trust anyone.
As such, he created a function in the Sanguine Bracelet that would affect the vampire tribe which was the core of his power.
What the Sanguine Bracelet could do was create a bond between the owner of the Sanguine Bracelet and any vampire that had its blood essence absorbed by the Sanguine Bracelet.
Once this bond was created, it wasn't something that could be broken unless it was broken by the owner of the Sanguine Bracelet.
Otherwise, how could Demon King Balkor have ensured that he would have been safe?
This function of the Sanguine Bracelet was what I had used on the rest of the pureblooded vampires after controlling half of them. After all, I had only been able to absorb the attacks of half of them, only stealing half of their blood essence.
The other half were half coerced and half forced into giving me their blood essence in the end.
Once all of the pureblooded vampires were under my control through the Sanguine Bracelet, it was easy to bring the vampire tribe under my fold. After all, the pureblooded vampires controlled the entire vampire tribe, there was no mistaking that.
However, this was the only tribe that I had something like this against.
If it wasn't for the fact that I had obtained the Sanguine Bracelet, there was no way that I would have been able to deal with the vampire tribe.
At most, I could fight a few pureblooded vampires on my own.
Even with the people that I trained, it wouldn't be enough to fight all of the different vampires and half vampires that the vampire tribe controlled.
These large and powerful tribes had been here for a long time and they possessed large amounts of resources. They definitely were not that easy to take down, unless one had a trick that they could use against them like this Sanguine Bracelet.
When we arrived back at the base, I said to Morgan, "I want you to become an instructor here."
Morgan was surprised to hear this since he thought that I would just treat him as some kind of bodyguard or some kind of hostage. He never thought that I would give him a position like instructor for my forces.
After all, a position like instructor did have some sway.
If he wanted to play some tricks…
I could guess what he was thinking, so I said, "I'm not as close minded as you think I am. I only want to take control of the demon race because there are things that I want to do to help the demon race as a whole. It's just that the stronger tribes only care about themselves and not the demon race as a whole."
Morgan was silent for a bit before saying, "That's just how us demons are in the first place."
I gave a shrug before saying, "Maybe that's the case, but that doesn't mean that we can't change. It isn't as if we've been able to defeat the humans all these years, so a little change wouldn't exactly be a bad thing. I think that this change would bring some good to the entire demon race."
Morgan couldn't help raising a brow when he heard this.
Though he looked at me like this, I just calmly looked back at him without breaking my gaze.
In the end, Morgan just gave a simple nod before turning to look at the demons that were under me.
I didn't say anything either since I could see the change that had happened in his eyes.
He didn't fully believe me, but it was clear that I had made an impression on him.
For now, that was enough.
"Big brother, where should I go?" Malphis said while looking at me with sparkling eyes.
I shook my head before saying, "Let's go and find a place for you."
To be honest, I had no idea what he was even good for since I had seen too little of his abilities.
But I'm sure that we could find a place for him.
