"This…" The Mayor saw something entirely different when he looked at Necro. "Just… Just how many lives must you take for your killing intent to be this dense and suffocating…?"

"...I have no idea…"

Now both the Mayor and Guard Captain were aligned in thought when it came to this horrifying entity disguised as a harmless boy.

"Whatever that Necro is, he still has a close relationship with the 6th Young Lady," the Mayor said after some time. "That means we can't kill him or restrain him."

"But you knew this already," he added as he shifted his sight over to the grave expression the Guard Captain was making. "I only faintly heard of your dealings with that enigma. And though I was confused at first, I now know why you did what you did. Smart move."

The Guard Captain met the Mayor's gaze for a moment before shaking his head and sighing. "You overestimate me, Gu Yagoi. The only real reason why I offered what I did was because… I was scared to find out what would happen if ever that monster's thirst for blood was not satiated…"

Silence…

"...I should call off the Officials that decided to tail the boy…"

"That would be wise…"

Meanwhile, the monster himself had just returned to Su Yu's mansion. He carried in her bought stuff before leaving her to sulk as he retreated into his room.

"That big jerk, humph!" Su Yu huffed and puffed. "Why is he so eager to leave me for that stinky room??"

She wanted to do more with him. Maybe talk until the sun fell on the horizon. But now…

"Whatever, who cares about that dummy anyway!?" Su Yu stomped away, not even bothering to unpack her bags of purchased goodies. "I'm going to go and play with Lollipop! I can already imagine the jealous face that meanie will make when he sees me having fun without him, hehe~"

*Achoo!*

Necro sneezed while in the midst of cultivating the 3rd Petal of his Orange-ranked Divine Lotus.

"I wonder who's talking about me…?"

"Well, no matter." He refocused. "Because of my Life Embryo Spiritual Roots, I can somehow cultivate passively. That means this entire day, I've been idling away, yet also becoming stronger."

'Whatever Eternal-ranked Spiritual Roots are, they're ridiculously overpowered,' he thought as he felt his 3rd Petal reach an overflowing point, on the verge of lighting up. 'Another breakthrough is already here.'

Within seconds, Necro's 4th Orange-ranked Petal finished its ascent in luminosity. This concluded his breakthrough, and subsequently sent him barreling back to the Skin Refinement Realm.

"I'll have to return to my previous cultivation at the Half-step Qi Condensation Realm to know for sure, but I'm positive my strength has at least doubled."

Necro was very pleased with this.

However, no matter how satisfied he may be, he would never be content.

And so he continued to cultivate manually, enjoying the feeling that came from directing his own destiny by hand.

— The Morning of the Next Day —

5th Orange-ranked Petal achieved!

"This progress is still good, but the time it takes to fully light up the next petal is definitely slowing down considerably," Necro muttered. "It could very well be weeks before I can grasp the 12th Petal."

If anyone else heard of the speed at which he was advancing to the peak of Body Refinement and restarting, their eyeballs would surely fall out of their sockets. However, for him, this was far from fast enough.

"Even faster," Necro clenched his fists. "I have to go even faster."

There were many ways one could speed up their rate of cultivation. He planned to discover and take advantage of them all.

Necro left his room in an orderly manner. On his way down the stairs, he encountered a feisty tsundere out in the wild.

"You were planning on leaving without saying a word, weren't you!?" Su Yu accused.

"...No…"

Necro averted his gaze.

"You're such a bad liar!" Su Yu's long twin tails wildly swung around, emulating her frustrations. "And you're a jerk!"

Necro didn't know what to say.

"Humph! I'm coming with!" Su Yu declared. "I don't care where you're going, but I'm going too!"

Necro's brows furrowed as he considered it. After realizing that she could be of some help, though, he immediately succumbed to her demands.

"Fine, but you better keep up," he said as he exited the mansion. "I have a few places that I wish to stop by."

Su Yu snorted cutely. "You underestimate me. I'll have you know that I'm a genius who cultivated to the 3rd Layer of Qi Condensation within a mere 5 years. My potential is rumored to be enough to take me straight to the very peak of the Foundation Establishment Realm… Hey, are you listening!?"

Necro was, in fact, not listening.

"Yeah, I heard it all. You're very amazing, Miss Su Yu. I'm left in awe."

Strangely enough, Su Yu wasn't able to see through his false flattery. She blushed while squirming in place, saying, "T-There's no need for all that, but if you'd like to continue, who am I to stop you~?"

"Ah, yes, yes, what greatness you are," Necro praised with a blank expression. "Awesome, awesome. So cool. Wow. Wow."

"Now you're just making fun of me!" Su Yu soccer-punched him in the face, dealing no damage.

"Oh, oops," said Necro as he saw the cute young girl's cheeks fill with air over his insane durability. "Let me retry."

He coughed twice before airing the theatrics. "Ow, ow. It hurts. It hurts so much. The pain. The horrors. Humanity. Capitalism—"

"J-Just shuddup already!" Su Yu clasped his mouth shut, though quickly turned redder than before after realizing how close their faces were.

"Y-You…" She looked like she was about to explode, what with how many hues were filtering through her skin tone. "You better take responsibility…!"

"???"

'Take responsibility for what…?'

Necro was trying his best to fit into human society, copying any mannerisms or phrases he saw in the city, but when it came to things like this, it never failed to leave him confused.

Some time later, after redirecting Su Yu's attention to Lollipop, Necro pondered his next course of action.

'There's nothing much I can gain outside River Mountain City, because it's too vast and difficult to traverse,' he thought. 'That means focusing strictly on the Factions within the City itself is really my only option if I want to obtain cultivation resources.'

River Mountain City was controlled by 2 Major Factions. One side was the Mayor and Civil Servants, while on the other side, there was the Monster Chaser Family.

As their names would indicate, those of the Monster Chaser Family chased, well… monsters.

The rare kinds. The powerful kinds. The… valuable kinds.

And the Monster Chaser Family was extremely proficient at what they did, second to none within River Mountain City. Wealth and power came as part of due course, leading them to a position where they could privately and even openly oppose the local government.

"That's where I need to go in order to acquire what I desire."

Necro's gaze steeled as he told Su Yu to leave Lollipop in his pen and follow behind him. Maybe it was because of her familiarity with him, or maybe it was because of his unwavering intensity, but she obeyed without complaint.

Within minutes, Necro and Su Yu had already raced through the branching streets of River Mountain City. He made sure not to go too fast, for leaving her in the dust would mean that it would be a far larger hassle to get what he wanted.

Reaching a massive estate that stretched in every direction for miles on end, Necro paused at the eloquently designed front gates. A few guards in the Marrow Refinement Realm eyed him with the intent to intimidate, but he was not so easily frightened.

"I'm here to request a meeting with the boss of this place." Necro stated his reasons, simple and straight to the point. "Please do convey my words to him or her."

The menacing armored guards exploded in laughter.

"You?? A kid like you actually dares to request a meeting with her Ladyship?? What a joke!" The strongest of the guards shooed the apathetic young boy off with waving hand gestures. "Why don't you go back to where you came and play with some building blocks or something? Haha!"

Necro was not amused.

And neither was Su Yu, who stepped forward and got right up in the faces of the guards. She sneered at them, directly demanding they convey a message to the Head of the Monster Chasers Family.

The message was, "I'm the 6th Young Lady of the Blue Legion Household. If you know what's good for you, then you'll meet us right now."

One wouldn't expect this way of getting things done to work, but surprisingly, status mattered a whole lot in this world. The guards reacted right away upon hearing of the Blue Legion Household—they bowed and begged for forgiveness before darting off and getting into contact with the Head of the Monster Chasers Family.

Not even ten seconds later, a powerful presence showed up on Necro's radar. The owner of the presence was at least of the 1st Layer of Foundation Establishment, and was hurrying over as fast as she could.

When Necro saw her, he knew right away that she was a top-tier beauty by human standards. Her features were divine, her bearing graceful, and her demeanor fairy-like. Like a goddess of the sky.

And right now, that goddess was wearing a smile while talking things over with Su Yu. She was obviously used to being cold as ice, as evident by the sheer awkwardness of her smile.
