Chapter 1108: The primodial light
[Eon’s POV: ]
There were fifty one floors in the tower if we count the ground floor as well.
Though simple looking, the tower structure was not as simple as it may sound since each of the floors were different worlds in their own rights.
The ground floor that we had come back to was not simply the [Gate] room, but it was also one of the most versatile floors that not only carried a lab for various experimental things, but for also things that were not related to the gate and the artifacts.
If one was looking around just the ground floor, they would need an entire day to go through all the places and see all the cool things that were present there, and since each of the floors were spatially separated, these places were unique as well.
’And just like the first floor, the floor above was just as unique and special.’
-Ding!
We used the elevator and moved to the florist floor where we knew Anna was.
Zoe had already looked at her through the surveillance screens, but even before looking at her, I knew what she must be doing here on the very next floor even though quite a lot of time must have passed in this place.
"Hmm?"
When we arrived, she instantly sensed our arrival and looked back, a surprised expression instantly appearing on her face.
"Ohh! Big brother~! You’re finally here!"
The second, or more accurately the first floor of the tower was a magical place that I used to call the [Room of magic elements].
"Hehehe~! Hello~!" She came running at us and hugged me first, and then she hugged her big sister Zoe and Rein.
"Anna? Is… that really you?"
She was a little taller now. And her dress seemed short on her.
Alf might also be feeling a strong concentration of Mana inside of her, so I can understand his shocked look.
Even Rein was surprised to see her change so much in just a few hours, but we had expected that.
"Anna…" I hugged her tightly, first taking a look at her current condition and making sure she was fine.
She wasn’t.
"We need to take you upstairs, dear. You still aren’t fine yet."
Due to the sudden influx of energy, her body had grown quickly in a short period. The energy that was gathered inside of her at the time of awakening forced its way inside of her, and even though her body could not keep up with the energy and the rapid growth, she still gained a tremendous amount of energy.
’While she now had an unimaginable amount of Arcanum and unrefined Mana inside of her, her body had still not adapted to the energy.’
The energy channels inside of her were still delicate and some of them were on the verge of breaking due to the packed up energy.
Some of her organs might be cut because of it as well, so we needed to treat her first and release some of the excess energy from her.
"Cultivating the energy will take time so we can do that over the time we stay here, but you need to be treated first."
Thankfully though, it seems like Mr. Rice provided some treatment to her and reinforced her delicate organs.
’The Mana also seems pretty harmonised so it must have helped her with that as well.’
And that was a good thing, at least.
"Mr. Rice helped you with your Mana, but you don’t have a Mana nucleus but an Arcanum Core, Anna." My hug, which lasted for much longer than she had expected, continued for another few seconds.
"Big brother…" she could feel my myriad emotions as well, so she ended up breaking into tears.
The experience must not have been pleasant in any manner for her. She had not experienced anything like this, but as fate would have it, she is going to have to learn about her powers more starting at this point.
’Her awakening is just the start of the long, arduous journey that she will have to progress on her own.’
The others seeing us did not find this any surprising. They could tell I had been worried sick about her, and they already knew just how I had handled myself until now as well.
’Still, she was fine now. And since she is fine…’
We can leave the other things like crying and all for later.
"So…"
Of the fifty floors of the tower, the first one belonged to the countless representations of the ’elements’ that exist in nature.
"Does anyone wanna know what they might be good at later?"
Throughout this vast room, there were things that represented elements of various fields.
’In one shelf, there were a hundred types of burning fires, in one section, there were rocks of various kinds that might even be as precious as a Relic.’
In one part of this vast room that one might not even be able to see with their eyes, there was a section for light and dark elements, null and space element, some sections for elements that only those who resonated with that element could enter, and there was also a certain area in the eastern region of the room where one can test out and see if they possessed any affinity for any kind of energy, element, power, or skills.
’Yes, even skills.’
The room was not just about magic. I called it the room of magic elements because I found all the things here magical.
"Oh! Oh! Big brother! Just what is that? I don’t know why but I can’t stop looking at it~!" Anna pointed out at the back where she was staging with Mr. Rice until we got here. Your adventure continues at NovelBin.Côm
"Oh, that…"
There was a monolith standing alone in that empty space with the shelf filled with elemental fire on the far right, with the pool of diverse waters on the far north of it, with a shelf of various rocks on the far left, and with the bottle wall of winds being in its far south.
The center of these four unique elemental displays was this monolith representing one true nature of Light.
"That’s the fragment of primordial light."
Fire, water, winds, and earth. The four common elements were something that could have various forms.
They could mix with one another and give birth to a different element. They could oppose one another and this opposition might give birth to a new element, and their independent existence might also be affected by different environmental factors and result in something else.
However, different from the four fundamental elements, Light was something that did not have any distinct variations.
"There is light born from the source Right now, and there is light that was born a long time ago."
The ’light’ element itself does not have any age. Light is just light. Photons if we think of it in magic engineering terms, and a ’mass’ filled beam of light if we think of it in terms of magic.
It’s not pure energy, but it is pretty close to something like that.
"We can understand fire, water, winds, and earth as many things. But what do you think about Light when you think about it?" I questioned not just my little girl but the rest of the companions with us as well.
"Is it a ray of light? A beam? Particles of energy, or something like waves?
Is it moving or does it naturally have a speed of its own?"
Light travels the fastest in space. It is so fast that we take it as the baseline when calculating the celestial distance between two cosmic objects.
It does not have its own age, but, while the concept of light itself might be pretty vague, it’s not something one could dissect into various elements.
"Isn’t it just a bunch of energy though? We just call it light because there is nothing more than that." A logical answer came from Del, but even she could not fully agree to what she had just said.
"But then what is Mana and Aura that we can use directly…" she started questioning herself, thinking deeper into a question that she had never really thought about.
Though, the answer to this complicated looking question was simple.
"Light as an element…" I lifted Anna in my arms and walked towards the monolith.
"Is different from the energies that we can use independently." I placed my hand on the surface of the small yet fascinating structure and passed some Solnova into it.
"Energy is energy. We can consider all energies as separate elements, however, if we think about it, aren’t all the energies, at the end of the day… energy?" The truth of Origin true energy was simple to understand if we put it this way.
But while all energy could be considered an element, all elements are not an Energy.
’By that logic, shouldn’t Light also exist as an independent element?’
-Oooooooong!
The monolith exploded with light as soon as I activated it and scattered into different triangle pieces around it.
"The light travels perpetually."
The glowing orb of light, the fragment of some of the oldest lights, rested in the same place it was present before.
"The light that was born at the beginning of the universe, must also be travelling right now."
The triangle piece as its pillar point, the orb glowed in a dim light different from just a moment before.
"If that old light exists, and if some new light is produced from a star, then would that mean both that light and this light are different things?" That wasn’t a question but my final explanation about the scene that they were seeing here.
"According to me, Light is simply light."
I was inspired by this when I saw it for the first time. And though not as much as her, I was also attracted to this monolith at the start.
’She had a stronger light affinity than me, so it was obvious she would be attracted to this as well.’
And now that I had the chance, I could not possibly Miss this opportunity to expose her to the [Truths] that she might need in the unforeseen future.
"The one that was born earlier has simply travelled a lot further than the newborn ones. There’s nothing more to this simple Element."
Of course though, that was just my understanding of this.
If they want, and if they feel like it, they can try and spend a year thinking about this like me and come up with an answer of their own.
’I genuinely hope that one of them does, at the very least.’
That would have made my master happy, so, it will make me happy as well.
