Chapter 592: The Situation and Information of "The Organization
"Reesi, what's wrong?"
Seeing the color drain from Reesi's face, Luo An frowned slightly and inquired about her condition.
"…It's nothing, I'm fine."
Reesi casually replied and sat back down in her original seat. Luo An, hearing this, did not press further but gave Mona a look.
Mona nodded slightly, moved her chair closer to Reesi, and asked in a low voice:
"Do you need help?"
"No need."
Reesi shook her head in refusal, and seeing Mona staring at her with no intention of leaving, she slightly hesitated and then explained in a low voice:
"Sorry, really, there's no problem. It's just that earlier, an agent named Havier wanted to ask me out for dinner after work."
A flicker of surprise crossed Mona's eyes, followed by a stifled laugh:
"Does he want to pursue you?"
Reesi usually wore her hair short and crisp, dressed neutrally, and apart from the times she went to bars or other entertainment venues, she hardly wore makeup at work.
But her features were indeed delicate, and she had a great figure.
Of the four women in Investigative Team No. 13, besides Michelle who had a less attractive face but a special temperament shaped by years of reading,
Mona, Reesi, and Chenier each had their own outstanding aspects in terms of looks and figures, capable of attracting attention at first glance.
Reesi picked up her coffee and downed it in one gulp, annoyed:
"That's right."
Mona's eyes gleamed with even more amusement. Reesi, being lesbian, liked women, and while quite a few people knew this, it was not widespread knowledge.
Agent Havier was not high-ranking and it was his first encounter with Investigative Team No. 13, so not knowing could be considered normal. Thus, Mona patted Reesi's shoulder, whispering:
"Think positively, at least this proves you're charming."
"I know."
Reesi nodded reluctantly. What actually bothered her wasn't Agent Havier's invitation to dinner; she had encountered such invitations before.
What really irked Reesi was, after she made it clear that she was a lesbian, the look of shock on Agent Havier's face, the involuntary look of disdain in his eyes…
Taking a deep breath to suppress the negative emotions in her heart, Reesi stopped thinking about these things, turned to Luo An, and said:
"Luo An, the ballistic test results from the second serial killing with a gunshot to the back of the head are out.
The Forensic Science Department says it's another unregistered firearm that hasn't been seen in the market."
"I'm aware."
Luo An's expression was unchanged as he carefully reviewed the document in his hand, barely lifting his head as he stated:
"That's not urgent, we'll use it as evidence to verify once we catch someone from 'the organization.'"
"Understood."
Reesi nodded, and after a long spell of busy work, all agents began to wind down for a rest.
Over the next few days, Luo An led Chenier, Winslow, and Michelle together to investigate the situation and information concerning 'the organization' in the second serial killing.
Meanwhile, Mona and Reesi worked together, both online and offline, investigating the surroundings of that doll toy.
On Wednesday, at ten in the morning in the office conference room, Luo An received a call from Vireness.
Gazing at the scenery outside the window, Luo An chuckled and said:
"Good morning, Chief."
"Good morning, Luo An."
Vireness's voice was gentle and she asked with a laugh:
"Mr. Clement will return this afternoon, and as soon as he arrives at the office, I will report to him about that case.
How is your investigation coming along?"
"Everything is going smoothly on my end, Chief."
Luo An's eyes narrowed slightly as he replied:
"We're ready to move at any time."
"What?"
Vireness was very surprised; Luo An's response greatly exceeded her expectations. She had thought that Luo An was still in the process of investigating the organization, so she urgently asked:
"Have you already figured out the specifics of that 'organization'?"
"Actually, it wasn't difficult, Chief."
Luo An chuckled and pulled out a folder from the conference table behind him, explaining:
"When we previously arrested the 'merchant' Innis Heller, we successfully got out of him the appearance of the person from that 'organization' who dealt with him.
My team led a sketch artist to draw the guy's portrait based on Innis Heller's description, and using the sketch, it wasn't long before we found the dealer."
Vireness nodded in satisfaction and asked:
"Who is that person?"
"Aigneis, 40 years old, the FBI's internal database shows he's the owner of a small supermarket."
Luo An looked at the information in the folder and introduced with a smile:
"No wife, no children, no criminal record, in fact, the guy doesn't even have a supermarket."
Vireness was taken aback:
"Didn't you just say he was the owner of a supermarket?"
"That's correct, but when my team went to check the supermarket's registered address on the ground, it was actually a gathering area for vagrants—there was no supermarket at all."
Luo An chuckled and said:
"The so-called supermarket is just a pretense used by Aigneis for tax purposes."
Unlike the previously captured 'merchant' Innis Heller, on the surface, Aigneis appeared to be a very law-abiding federal citizen.
Hard-working, paying taxes on time, neither dealing with flour nor gambling, not even seeking female companionship, very disciplined.
But in reality, Aigneis worked hard for the 'organization'; he used a supermarket as a front when paying taxes, but he didn't actually own one; he didn't deal with flour or gamble because these were the demands of the 'organization'; as for not getting married or seeking women...
The reason for this, Team 13's agents have not yet figured out; it's not clear whether Aigneis has an issue with his orientation, fears marriage, or something else.
Vireness then asked:
"Besides this supermarket owner, what else do we know about the organization?"
"We've uncovered a lot more."
Luo An continued to introduce:
"Aigneis always drove the same van when dealing with Innis Heller, used for transporting 'meat rabbits,' which means transporting people.
My team followed Aigneis for some time, successfully finding that van, and also the location of the organization.
After staking out for several days, we now have a fairly good grasp of the organization's information and personnel."
The organization had no name, it was simply called "the organization."
The head of the organization designed a tight structure, with rigid and serious rules, rarely interacted with the outside on normal days, and members of the organization and their guests had a specific method of coming and going, making it very difficult to infiltrate and observe.
But as Luo An had previously speculated, while those at the top had a perfect design, the workers at the bottom were all ordinary people.
Ordinary people have ordinary thoughts; here in the free and democratic federation, most ordinary people think very simply:
I work for my salary; it's just so much per month, no need to risk my life.
So after careful observation for a few days, Luo An, disguised in face and identity, was able, with a glass of alcohol and 10,000 US dollars, to get most of the information about the organization from the mouth of a basic-level worker of the "organization."
"Chief, there's a high probability that this organization was established by some of the fortunate escapees from the church case fourteen years ago."
Luo An held the folder, flipped to a new page and said seriously:
"Our investigation found that the reason the organization purchases 'meat rabbits' is to let their secretly recruited members experience the real feeling and pleasure of killing.
As long as these members wish, they can also pay extra to experience the specific taste of human flesh; there are specialized projects for barbecuing, eating raw, and so on.
Those killed by the members, the 'organization' doesn't waste them either; hearts, kidneys, livers, corneas, they have a complete extraction process, which in the end are sold into the black market.
Additionally..."
"What else?"
