Chapter 5: Chapter 4:Ruby Storyline
After hearing Colin's words, Catte began explaining how he met the little girl named Ruby.
Ruby was actually an abandoned baby, discarded by a family that despised having daughters. Catte found her inside a trash bin. Without hesitation, he picked up the baby, realizing she was a normal human child. However, she never cried as an infant—only when she lost something… something she never wanted to lose. Someone dear to her… someone who always took care of her… someone who stayed by her side.
Panicked, Catte rushed the baby to the nearest clinic to check if she was safe. To his surprise, the baby was perfectly healthy, almost as if she was already ready to start walking. From that moment, Catte took care of her, raising her until she grew up and naming her Ruby.
"Catte, I'm done with my bath!" Ruby said happily.
She immediately hugged Catte tightly, always staying close to her guardian. Colin could only smile and offered her some food while saying:
"Ruby, here, take this food. You must be hungry?" Colin asked.
Ruby took the food from Colin's hands and thanked him before going to eat in the bedroom. Meanwhile, Catte and Colin continued discussing how to settle the debt.
"So... since you've killed a construction manager, what can you even do?" Colin asked Catte.
"I just need a job that I can handle for now..." Catte replied.
"Alright then… I have a job for you—working as a waiter at a food stall near your house. Even though there are a lot of gangsters there, you just need to serve them. Simple, right?" Colin said.
Catte had no choice but to accept the offer in order to pay off his debt and his father's hospital bills.
"Agreed! I'll give it a try..." Catte answered.
That night, Catte recalled the words his mother once said to him at the beach.
"Son, what do you want to see when you grow up?" his mother asked.
"I want to see the beauty of the ocean, Mom!" Catte replied.
"Hahaha... I want to see the beauty of the ocean too," his mother said.
Catte could only remain silent, sadness filling his heart. Suddenly, Ruby, having a nightmare, hugged him tightly. Catte simply stayed still, looking at Ruby and softly whispering:
"Don't worry… everything will be alright..."
