Chapter 474: Travel and Beyond Travel Chapter Thirty-Three Departure
Trapped in the passage, Lynch struggled to think of a way to escape. No matter what was blocking the exit, it seemed too heavy.
Although mages have invented many spells to avoid physical labor, and they can even move objects with mere thought, this ability is not limitless. Even with the power of Magic Origin, Lynch could not move something too heavy without the right spell. But in the Great Arcanist era, there were spells that could make entire mountains fly in the sky, a true miracle of magic.
"There's no choice, I'll have to tunnel through the passage." Since he couldn't move it, he would go through it. As Lynch was gathering magic power for an attack spell on his hands, the object above him wobbled, leaving an exit.
"Lynch! Lynch!" Zilvra's voice came through the crack: "Did you hear me? Can you climb out?"
With the combined pulling from Zilvra and Kuboert, the soaked-with-sweat mage finally broke free from the trapped state. He patted the dust off his clothes and turned back to see what exactly blocked the entrance.
"You... good, young mage. I... cough, I didn't land quite accurately."
Lynch's mouth dropped open, for it was none other than the Brass Dragon Xise they had encountered on the ship. But he was not with the elegance or style he had when sailing the ship; now he appeared barely alive. On his massive body, broken wounds could be seen everywhere, with countless scales gone and only the traces of numerous spell attacks remaining. Be it frost or fire, even the fire that the Brass Dragon could largely resist left clear marks. But the most fatal were two black spears lodged in his heart and neck.
"What happened to you?" Although not a priest, Lynch could clearly feel the dragon's life slipping away, struggling to survive. He said, "Who were you fighting against? Could it be thousands of enemies besieged you?"
"Pate, it's over." Those four words from the dragon left Kuboert shocked, and just as he was about to speak, he was interrupted by the dragon coughing blood. Empress Hernfurry was exerting all her efforts, using spells to sustain the dragon's life.
"Empress, and Lynch. The terrible war... is coming." The dragon's eyelids grew heavier, using all his strength to move his claw, now with only two fingers left due to injuries. The dragon touched a scale under his neck and plucked it off: "Empress, this... this is my dwelling, and also my tomb. Lynch, do not let the angel... do not let her leave your side..."
After speaking, he closed his mouth and eyes, no longer moving regardless of how the mage called out. Only when Empress Hernfurry cast a spell did the Brass Dragon's body move slightly. However, these movements grew slower, and finally, the dragon's tongue slipped out, and he completely lost vitality.
Lynch turned around, angrily questioning Priest Kuboert: "Why didn't you cast the spells to help!"
"My abilities are insufficient," Kuboert said helplessly. "The Empress has been using the Great Healing Technique and Complete Restoration Technique to fully recover the dragon's wounds, but it only delayed the inevitable death. I've exhausted all my spells, but it had no significant effect."
"His wounds were too severe, and some unknown curse ensured his certain death." The Empress approached, her steps somewhat unsteady, her grief making the beautiful elf appear worn and haggard. She said, "The curse came from the two weapons embedded in his body, but I cannot remove them, as doing so would cause immediate death. Resurrection spells don't work on such an ancient dragon either."
"Who did this?" Lynch looked at the wounds, pondering the place the dragon intended to go before leaving: "With so many traces of spells, could it be some Great Mage from the Mage Association decided to slay the dragon?"
"I do not know, but there's something very strange. Those two weapons are not of the mortal world." The Empress pointed to the two spears, saying: "While I have not seen all the Divine Artifacts as the Mage Association might have, I recognize most of them. These two weapons' powers are close to the standard of Divine Artifacts but have no record. What puzzles me most is, on the shaft of the spear is inscribed the emblem of the Sun God..."
