Mountain Sitting Immortal

Chapter 444: Misunderstood Genius.

He recognized the style of the golem from the performance tests and the regional sect examination. But this would be his first time seeing this kind of golem, or any golem for that matter, flying, so the golem was definitely special.

But he didn't think it was so special that it was related to the genius patriarch who built the teleportation platforms. This put him somewhat on edge.

Elder Storm Hawk saw that he had tensed up as if he was about to fight and chuckled as she said, "Don't worry too much. This is probably about the inheritance. Just do as you are told as respectfully as possible, and everything will be fine."

He nodded in understanding and relaxed a bit. Since the meeting wasn't going to be about their fishing game, then he shouldn't have done anything wrong and shouldn't be worried.

Having given him sufficient warning, she bowed to the golem and flew away. The other two bowed and flew away too.

The golem spared them a glance and said, "I hear you troublesome children got a good haul earlier. When will you grow up and stop playing these childish games?"

The three of them laughed nervously but didn't stop or defend themselves. They flew away as fast as possible, like kids that have been caught doing something wrong.

Arthur went up to the golem and bowed as he said, "Greetings, patriarchs."

The golem stopped in front of him and looked down on him. Then it asked, "Are you Arthur, the one that just received an inheritance in one of the ruins of the Flame Cauldron sect?"

He nodded and said, "Yes, I am."

The golem produced a memory crystal and handed it to him while saying, "Put the techniques from the inheritance here. After doing so, swear that it is all the techniques that you received from the inheritance. That will conclude your responsibility to the sect concerning the inheritance."

He sighed in relief and took the memory crystal. Then he placed it against his head and closed his eyes. He really recollected the techniques and inheritance notes he received and input them into the memory crystal.

Since he was copying, not digesting, it took less than 10 minutes for him to be done with it. Then he swore that this everything that he received and then handed the memory crystal to the golem.

The golem received the memory crystal and began absorbing the memory within it immediately. This is something that inanimate objects like golems can't do. After all, they shouldn't have a mind.

But this golem was different. It was an extension of the power of a nascent soul cultivator, so it had a mind.

Its mind was that of the nascent soul cultivator, so it was very powerful. It was able to absorb and digest what took Arthur hours to digest in a few seconds.

After absorbing the information in the memory crystal, the golem cursed and said, "I knew it. That golem had been lying to me when it said that what it gave me was everything."

Arthur remembered what the golem had said about how this genius array cultivator had cheated and broken into the inheritance ground.

So he said, "The golem hates cheaters. It only gives one-third of the inheritance to cheaters."

The golem scoffed and said, "First of all, I didn't cheat. I just found another way to solve the problem. I thought outside of the box that bound laymen. That makes me a genius, not a cheater."

"Secondly, the formations and arrays on the stupid mountain were screaming out to me to tamper with them. I only obliged because I fell into temptation. So if anything, I was the victim of the setup."

"Thirdly, what it gave me for my work was less than one-third of everything. What it gave me is just one part of the Life Pill Art itself. It didn't give me any of the research notes."

"If the research notes are counted as part of the inheritance, then what it gave me was less than one-tenth of the inheritance. That's just too stingy."

"And it was being stingy for what? All to protect some incomplete technique? How would it ever complete the technique if it doesn't give it to geniuses like me?"

Arthur didn't know what to say about the question. He could only give an excuse on behalf of the golem.

He said, "The golem is rigid, so it isn't exactly its fault that it missed out on someone as talented as you. It was made to hate cheaters."

He quickly corrected himself, "I meant that it was made to hate those who don't complete the trial according to the set path."

The patriarch didn't care about his blunder at all. He controlled the golem to take out another memory crystal and imprint a new type of information onto it.

As it did so, it said to Arthur, "So anyway, that was its loss. If it had given me all of this information before, I would have solved the problem with the Life Pill. I wouldn't need to wait this long to solve the issues with it."

"I haven't solved everything though. I'm good, but I am not that good. I have only solved the issues with the rank 3 section of the technique. The Life Pill used as a foundation should be capable of growth now."

"The rank 4 and rank 5 still need some testing before I can work out all the kinks. But I am sure that I will be able to solve it."

"I will give you this rank 3 section as a reward for your work. Technically, you didn't need to give the sect the research notes, as they aren't part of the technique. But you did, and it was very helpful in finding a solution to the problem."

"Since the rank 3 section that I've fixed is now a property of the sect, you can't share it with others. If you want the rank 4 and rank 5 sections that I've fixed, you will need to exchange them from the sect."
