Chapter 162: Chapter 164
In the arena.
Kankuro and Temari, unaware that Sunagakure had withdrawn from the Konoha Collapse Plan, stood protectively in front of the injured Gaara, intending to take him away from Konoha.
"You bastards, this commotion must have been caused by you, the Sand Village, and Orochimaru," Genma Shiranui growled. He glanced briefly at the Third Hokage, who was trapped within the Four Purple Flame Formation, and glared at Gaara's siblings.
"So what?" Kankuro exhaled heavily, gripping the crow puppet strapped to his back. His unease grew—why hasn't Maki arrived yet?
Temari, holding her three-star fan, looked equally anxious but ready for battle.
Genma, with his ever-present senbon needle between his lips, narrowed his eyes. "If that's the case, I can't let you leave."
Just as the tension reached a boiling point, Kakashi appeared between Shiranui Genma and Gaara's siblings, his voice firm: "Stop this."
"Kakashi, these Sand Ninjas are accomplices to the attack on the Hokage," Genma snapped.
"Look carefully, Genma," Kakashi said in a grave tone, pointing towards the dome at the top of the stands. "That's not the Kazekage. It's Orochimaru in disguise."
As Kakashi's words sank in, Orochimaru tore off his Kazekage disguise. Genma, Gaara's siblings, and Sasuke were stunned into silence.
"What's going on?" Temari asked, her voice trembling.
Kakashi sighed deeply. "The real Fourth Kazekage is dead. Your village has been deceived by Orochimaru. Your leader, Maki, is currently trying to stop the ambush by Sand Ninja outside Konoha. If you don't want to become traitors to your village, leave Konoha now."
The news hit Kankuro and Temari like a ton of bricks. Their eyes glazed over as shock overwhelmed them.
Gaara, clutching his head, screamed in agony. Memories of his father, Rasa, flooded his mind, triggering a splitting headache.
"Gaara! What's wrong?" Kankuro asked, panic in his voice.
"Hurry," Gaara rasped, looking up. One of his eyes had turned into Shukaku's feral yellow. "Take me out of Konoha—now!"
Swallowing their fear, Kankuro and Temari exchanged uneasy glances before supporting Gaara and hastily fleeing.
"Hey, Kakashi, what's with that kid?" Sasuke asked, still staring in the direction Gaara had gone.
Kakashi, scanning the area, replied sharply, "I'll explain later. Right now, we need to focus on the Sound Ninja." Without waiting for a response, he vanished into the fray.
Genma sighed heavily. "This guy is infuriating." He chased after Kakashi, leaving Sasuke behind.
Sasuke, unable to suppress his curiosity, made a quick decision and dashed after Gaara.
In the audience stands, Sakura—immune to Kabuto's genjutsu due to her dual personality—saw Sasuke disappearing into the distance. Panic set in. She called out to Kakashi, who was busy fighting off Sound Ninja, "Kakashi-sensei! Sasuke is chasing the Sand Ninja!"
Her cry drew the attention of two nearby Sound Ninja. They hurled kunai at her, forcing Sakura to duck and cover her head in terror. But before the weapons could strike, Kakashi appeared, swiftly taking out the attackers.
"You're safe now, Sakura," Kakashi said with a sigh, seeing her trembling figure.
Tears welled in Sakura's eyes as she choked out, "Kakashi-sensei... Sasuke..."
Kakashi clenched his fists. "I know. These kids are always causing problems."
His gaze swept across the chaos in the arena. Spotting Shikamaru among the sleeping participants, Kakashi made a quick decision. "Sakura, wake up Shikamaru. Then find Neji and Shino—they didn't have time to join the fight. All of you go after Sasuke and bring him back."
He formed a summoning seal, and Pakkun appeared beside him. "Pakkun will guide you."
With Kakashi's orders clear, Sakura, Shikamaru, Neji, and Shino left the arena in pursuit of Sasuke.
From his perch in the stands, Kirito (Qianye) observed everything with a faint smile. "Looks like Sasuke can't escape his fate of fighting Gaara and Shukaku. A beating is inevitable."
He glanced at Shikamaru, who had joined the pursuit. "Even without Asuma's intervention, Shikamaru won't fall to the Sound Ninja. Is this the protagonist's halo at work?"
Beside him, Ye Cang dispelled the genjutsu with a single hand sign. She retrieved a scroll from her pouch, eyeing Kirito. "Master Kirito."
"Not yet. First, we have to meet the so-called 'God of Shinobi.' Wait for my signal," Kirito said, tearing off his disguise. His red-clouded black robe and scratched Konoha headband gleamed in the light before he vanished into thin air.
Above the dome, Sarutobi Hiruzen performed a subpar Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu. Orochimaru blocked the attack effortlessly, summoning the coffins of the First and Second Hokage to shield himself.
Although Orochimaru attempted to summon a third coffin—the Fourth Hokage—he failed. The Fourth Hokage's soul, devoured by the Shinigami, was beyond his reach.
Seeing the third coffin fail to appear, Sarutobi Hiruzen's confidence surged. "At least I stopped the third one. Now comes the most difficult part."
He allowed himself a small, prideful smile, but his satisfaction was short-lived.
"Old man," a calm, mocking voice rang out, echoing across the battlefield. "Why are you so happy? That third coffin didn't fail because of your pathetic jutsu—it's just that Orochimaru couldn't summon it."
Kirito stood just outside the Four Purple Flame Formation, Zanpakuto in hand. His presence radiated calm menace, as if he belonged in the heart of the chaos.
"Fujiwara Kirito!" Sarutobi Hiruzen snarled, his face twisting in fury. His gaze burned with pure hatred as he stared at the man who had ruined his family, killed his son, castrated his grandson, and obliterated his reputation.
Even as death loomed near, the sight of Kirito filled him with uncontainable rage. "You... even now, you won't let me die in peace?"
Now that he is about to die, he still refuses to let him go.
He had never seen such an evil little devil.
Even more evil than the Uchiha clan.
