Naruto: Wolf of the Hidden Leaf

Chapter 25: To Kill a(some) Cultists (V)

I was in the middle of my sword fight with Raizo when Daigo dropped from the sky.

Just before he landed on the ground, I called back my shadow clone and felt my missing chakra come back to me. It seems that my shadow clone has done its job of preserving as much chakra as possible.

Good.

Umbra has already come back towards my side for quite some time now. He was hiding in the shadows, lurking about, looking for ways to attack. Raizo has not senses him yet and honestly, I can't fault him for it. Umbra's natural biological ability of stealth was much more potent than anything I've ever seen.

Although, I had initially thought that he used a sort of passive genjutsu to maintain it, I had been proven wrong after I've learnt more about genjutsu and how it works.

He uses natural energy by instinct alone.

Which means that he most probably can never be found out if there isn't a sage nearby.

Good luck finding a sage. They were truly rarein this world.

As Daigo's body dropped, the ground shook and the aftershock went towards all sides.

I stabbed my sword to the ground so that I don't get swept up by the air pressure. My small body mass made it much harder for me to balance my body weight.

Raizo was at the opposite side of mine and the air pressure came from his back. He used it to his advantage as he launched directly towards me.

I grabbed my sword with my right hand to keep my balance as I ducked below his sword blow. Using my small frame to my advantage I slid below and tried to get a hit on his shin.

Realizing my intention, Raizo shifted and his kick met with my punch. After the initial contact, I quickly retreated, not wanting to get stabbed by his sword.

But my retreat was hindered as hands made of earth tried to disrupt my movement. I did not have enough time to dodge it, so I infused my legs with chakra and destroyed both of the hands.

Just as both of us had taken back our footing, we rushed towards each other again. Swords clashed with each other again and again as the sound of its symphony echoed through the air.

Even though we both were unable to hit each other, the winner of the bout was clear. Raizo was clearly superior to me in kenjutsu in every possible way. His use of lightning on his sword forced me to use chakra on my own sword, which in turn diminished my chakra reserve at a rapid rate.

He was also really careful to avoid eye contact with me after I had made that cultist kill himself. Clearly he has fought with an Uchiha before and considering how well he was at fighting like that, I would wager that he had even killed some during the war.

I have tried using a sound based jutsu before but he had intercepted me even before I could finish the hand signs. His combat sense was extraordinary as he had realized that the most dangerous part of my arsenal was my genjutsu and being afflicted by one for even a second might result in his loss.

So, he was trying to overwhelm me using his lightning sword and earth hand thingies.

Smart. Really smart thinking on his part.

But he had underestimated how much chakra I had. And also he had forgotten that I was first and foremost an Inuzuka.

After our swords clashing for the n-th time, he once again charged at me, this time with a large swing. I feigned to defend it and just at that moment our swords were going to touch, I stopped gripping my sword.

Few strands of lighting burned my hand as there was nothing to defend me against it. I endured against the pain. My left hand grabbed the kunai hidden on my sleeve as I slashed towards Raizo.

He had momentarily lost balance due to my sudden movements as he realized that he didn't have enough time to use his sword to defend against me.

I was sure I had him but at the last moment he extended his spare hand and defended against my attack. A loud clang echoed through the forest as he used some sort of metal protector to defend against my attack.

Seeing my attack fail, he once again tried slashing towards me with his sword seeing that now I was practically defenseless.

Before he could finish the swing though, Umbra jumped up from the shadows and bit towards his left calf with the force of a hydrolic press.

Even if he was an experienced shinobi who has had his fair share of painful experience, the bite from a ninken out of nowhere can and will make you interrupt due to the surprise pain, even from a moment.

And that fraction of a second is all I needed. Using my free right hand, I punched right towards his elbow. My punches were not like every punches other shinobis throw around.

If other's punches could be compared with 9mm shots, then my punches were similar to a point blank shotgun right to your face.

A loud crunch came into my earshot as Raizo's elbow broke instantly and his arms got bent to an unnatural state. His grip on the sword went limp as he cursed under his breadth.

He had miscalculated severely.

Quicker than ever before, he retreated back and quickly used a 'Mud Wall' to try and keep me from advancing on him any further.

He wanted to get away using this opportunity seeing that he had no reason to be here anymore. His squad is almost dead and one of his arms was broken. It was good thinking for him to retreat as fast as he could.

But, unfortunately for him, I had already expected this beforehand. I counted seconds in my head of my impending victory.

One.

Two.

BOOOM

With a loud bang, the Mud Wall broke down as an injured Raizo was thrown towards my feet. The clothes of his torso were torn and a 'Rasengan' shaped injury marred his back.

Blood dripped from his mouth as he struggled to utter the words,

"A shadow clone? When? How?"

Confirming his words, my other shadow clone came out of the rubble.

I extracted my sword from the ground as I decided to humor him for a second.

"When I used substitution and you were caught by the explosion. I supressed the sound, made a shadow clone and made it so that it can't be seen. You were so busy avoiding my eyes that you forgot that my genjutsu doesn't rely on Dojutsu powers. Another big mistake was forgetting about Umbra. That was really amateur mistake of you. The moment you thought that you could win if you didn't let me use genjutsu, you had already lost."

He gave me one last pained look as he realized his mistakes. Then he lost consciousness.

"You didn't kill him, did you?" I asked my shadow clone.

"Of course not. What do you think I am? I am you, remember?"

"Fair enough," It's been a long time since I've started using shadow clones. Still it was pretty weird talking to myself, "We can't kill him just yet. After all, he is the only direct link for us to find out where Hidan is."
