Chapter 10: CHAPTER 10
However, it was a pity that Leone had shattered Evil-Toothed Garcia's entire body—leaving only his head intact.
Even so, only a few fragments of the Goro Goro no Mi (Thunder Fruit) were collected.
"Thunder Fruit (43/100)"
"Still more than half to go."
Leone pulled out a knife, casually severing Garcia's head with a flick of his wrist before wrapping it in sackcloth.
"Looks like my next stop is Scar Walker… I just hope he lasts a little longer."
He slung the blood-soaked bundle over his waist and stepped into the tavern.
Inside, Scar Walker was celebrating the crew's victory, rewarding his men with rounds of drinks. The members of the Scar Pirates clinked their glasses and roared with laughter, basking in their recent triumph.
"Are you Scar Walker?"
Leone walked straight toward the pirate captain, his tone indifferent.
"Hm?"
The sudden arrival of an uninvited guest shifted the atmosphere.
All eyes turned toward Leone—especially to the bloodstained sack pinned to his waist. The sight sent a visible ripple of unease through the room.
"Who the hell are you?" Scar Walker narrowed his eyes.
"I worked under Garcia," Leone replied calmly. "Before he died, he left a message for you. He said that if you can defeat me in a fight, he'll back down whenever he sees you. No matter where you are, he'll retreat immediately."
"But…" Leone smirked. "He bet that you wouldn't stand a chance against me."
CRASH!
Scar Walker smashed the beer mug in his grip. He stood up, his towering frame nearly two meters tall, and glared down at Leone.
"That coward Garcia… How shameless!" He pulled out his massive cutlass. "If you're here to fight on his behalf, you're out of luck!"
He brandished the blade, its edge gleaming under the dim light.
"Move aside! My blade needs blood today!"
The entire tavern cleared a space, forming a makeshift battleground.
The Scar Pirates erupted into cheers, rallying behind their captain. Other pirates, content to spectate, leaned forward eagerly.
Another fight—this time with Scar Walker himself? A clash between pirates worth tens of millions? This was rare!
"Shall we begin?" Leone asked flatly.
"Heh… Kid, I'll show you the kind of ending that awaits those who challenge Scar Walker!"
Scar Walker lunged forward, cutlass raised high.
But before his blade could even reach Leone—
BANG!
His enormous body blasted backward like a cannonball, slamming into the wall with such force that he embedded into it. His consciousness faded instantly.
The tavern fell silent.
"…Scar Walker was taken out in one hit!"
"What just happened?! I didn't even see him move!"
"That guy in black didn't do anything! So how did Scar Walker go flying?!"
Gasps and whispers filled the room.
Scar Walker, a pirate with a 12 million bounty, had been defeated in a single strike—without even getting to fight back.
No one had seen how Leone moved. His strength was terrifying.
"Oh, right…"
Leone vanished in a blur, reappearing in front of Scar Walker in an instant. The sudden movement sent another wave of shock through the crowd.
"Garcia wanted me to tell you something…" He smirked. "He's feeling a little lonely down there. He'd like some company."
With that, Leone clenched his fist—
And unleashed a barrage of light-speed punches!
"Congratulations! You obtained a 'Thunder Fruit' fragment!"
"Congratulations! You obtained a 'Thunder Fruit' fragment!"
"Congratulations! You obtained a 'Thunder Fruit' fragment!"
The system notifications flooded in as Leone pummeled Scar Walker into a bloodied, deformed mess.
By the time he was finished, the once-fearsome pirate captain was nothing more than a crumpled heap.
"Congratulations! You have successfully obtained 100 Thunder Fruit fragments. Would you like to synthesize them?"
When the sweet, mechanical voice rang out, Leone's eyes lit up with excitement, and he immediately selected "Yes."
At once, 100 Thunder Fruit fragments were placed into the large cauldron. The colorful progress bar began to fill rapidly.
"It's done. There's no point in keeping you around."
Leone retracted his fists, pulled out a small knife, and with a swift backhand slash, Scar Walker's head flew into the air.
He casually grabbed a piece of burlap, caught the severed head, and fastened it to his waist without hesitation.
"Captain!"
The crew of the Scar Pirates gasped in horror.
Leone's speed was too fast—before they could even react, Scar Walker had been completely overwhelmed and decapitated in one fluid motion. The bloodied head was already strapped to Leone's waist, and they had barely processed what had happened.
The surrounding pirates were equally stunned.
They had seen terrifying things before, but nothing like this.
Scar Walker, a pirate with a bounty of 18 million berries, was undeniably strong—a well-known figure on Pirate Street. And yet, in front of this man in black, he had been as helpless as a child, slaughtered in an instant!
"Alright, mission complete."
Leone cast a satisfied glance at the 30 million berries hanging from his waist. His figure flickered, leaving behind a golden streak of light as he vanished.
The remaining pirates stood frozen in shock, staring at Scar Walker's headless corpse, their bodies trembling.
The Scar Pirates' crew dared not even breathe.
At that moment, a single thought crossed their minds:
A true monster… A real master!
—
"Scar Walker's head, confirmed."
"The head of 'Evil Toothed' Garcia, confirmed."
"Alright, here's your 30 million berries. I hope you continue your contributions to the fight against piracy!"
A young man in a vest trembled with excitement as he received the bounty. Bowing deeply in gratitude, he thanked the Marine official before hurrying out of the hall, clutching the large sum of money.
As he stepped outside, he suddenly halted.
"This much money… If I just take a little, he won't notice!"
He reached into the bag, grabbed a handful, and slipped it into his pocket before heading into an alley.
But the moment he stepped inside, his body tensed—and then he collapsed, unconscious.
"People really are greedy these days."
Leone retrieved the prize bag from the fallen man's hand, plucked the hidden money from his pocket, and left behind a single silver coin—the amount he had originally promised. With that, he vanished into the shadows.
—
Windmill Village.
"Hey, old Casca! I've scraped together enough to build my ship!"
Leone tossed a bag onto the table. Inside were a hundred gold coins.
Given the standard exchange rate—10,000 berries per gold coin—old Casca now held a full 1 million berries in his hands.
"Kid, I didn't think you'd make a million berries so fast!" Old Casca chuckled. "Give me ten days, and your ship will be waiting at the dock!"
"Then I'll be back for the good news!"
