One Piece: My code name is Green Bull

Chapter 115: Roger at Death’s Door

After the battle, Jon swiftly used his ability to protect key areas and then put on the Navy uniform he had prepared in advance.

Having learned from last time, he made sure to avoid another embarrassing situation. Before the fight even began, he had Pemberton fetch him a set of clothes.

"Vitas was too weak. You won too easily—I didn't even get to see more of your trump cards."

Borsalino sighed regretfully as Jon walked over. He was quite familiar with Jon, but he also knew that Jon liked to hold back. He was sure Jon had more powerful moves beyond just the Wood Colossus.

But Vitas was so useless that he only forced out one of Jon's techniques before getting beaten down. Borsalino found this extremely disappointing.

Jon didn't bother responding to Borsalino's complaints. Being watched by so many people made him uncomfortable. He had promised Tsuru to keep a low profile, yet once again, he had made a spectacle of himself. It wouldn't be long before every soldier at G-1 Branch knew his name.

And sure enough, in the following days, no matter where he went, people would stare at him. Some would even come up to greet him, which made him feel even more out of place.

Still, Jon understood that this wasn't a bad thing. Many people had witnessed his strength firsthand, and now his reputation had risen.

The Navy was a military organization. Though it wasn't as brutally cutthroat as the pirate world, power still spoke the loudest.

Rank mattered, of course, but strength was just as important—perhaps even more so.

Jon's overwhelming display of power had left a lasting impression, one that many in the Navy wouldn't soon forget.

The Navy fleet didn't stay at G-1 Branch for long. As soon as they received intel on Roger and Golden Lion's movements, they set sail, following the trail.

Jon remained aboard Garp's ship, eager to witness a historic moment.

The sight of the massive Navy fleet in motion quickly caught the attention of various factions. By now, news of the ongoing chase between Roger and Golden Lion had spread widely. Everyone knew that the Navy's target was both of them.

Most pirates were selfish. Even though they were aware of the Navy's movements, none considered intervening. In fact, they were happy to see the Navy eliminate both Roger and Golden Lion—it would give them more room to expand.

To the pirate factions watching from the sidelines, the battle between Golden Lion and Roger was mere entertainment. Now, with the Navy joining in, they had even more reason to celebrate.

Even if Roger or Golden Lion emerged victorious, they would still have to face the Navy's justice.

"Vice Admiral Garp, Admiral Sengoku has ordered us to stop here. We've spotted Golden Lion's fleet ahead—they seem to have Roger's crew completely surrounded."

Sengoku's orders reached Garp's ship, and Garp immediately signaled his crew to slow down and halt.

"So, Roger's finally been cornered by Golden Lion? Dozens of pirate ships against one—he's backed into a dead end now."

Garp knew Roger better than anyone, but even he believed that Roger had little hope left.

Naval battles were no less intense than land wars—perhaps even more so. Roger's crew had only one ship, and no matter how powerful or sturdy it was, they were facing an entire fleet.

Not to mention, their enemy was Golden Lion, a man with the powers of the Float-Float Fruit.

Garp simply couldn't see any way Roger could escape this situation.

"Jon, I think this time Roger is doomed for sure. You could even consider this indirectly avenging yourself."

Dragon glanced at Jon, aware that he had once been captured by Roger's crew.

Jon wasn't offended by Dragon bringing it up. He simply kept a serious expression and said, "It's not over until it's over. Don't jump to conclusions too soon—there might still be a miracle."

"A miracle? Jon, are you saying you actually believe in Roger's crew?"

Kuzan looked at Jon with confusion. He didn't understand why Jon would say such a thing. Anyone with eyes could see that Roger's crew was already finished.

Jon thought for a moment before replying, "Just a gut feeling."

Kuzan had no words for that. He didn't believe it at all.

Roger was completely surrounded—what miracle could possibly save him?

Dragon, however, narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.

He knew that Jon's Observation Haki was incredibly advanced.

Even if Dragon didn't fully believe him, he couldn't help but waver a little. Perhaps Jon really could sense something that they couldn't.

Since the Navy intended to play the waiting game, they stopped well short of the battlefield. They kept a safe distance from the fight while deploying patrol ships to observe from afar and relay information back.

The fleet had been strategically positioned in a fan-like formation, encircling the entire sea area. Jon's ship was stationed on the left flank.

With the main battle out of sight, most ships simply awaited Admiral Sengoku's command.

But on Garp's ship, things were different.

A group of people had gathered closely around Jon.

"Could you all back off a little? I can barely breathe here."

Jon felt suffocated by the way Garp and the others had practically formed a circle around him.

"Cut the crap and use your Haki to check the battlefield!" Garp barked.

Jon frowned. "Vice Admiral Garp, your Haki is pretty strong too. Why don't you do it yourself? Why make me do it?"

"You little brat—don't try to play dumb with me! I know your Observation Haki has already surpassed mine. And besides, your Haki is different—it's much more effective than mine.

"Besides," Garp added shamelessly, "I might have to fight later. Gotta save my energy, y'know?"

Jon sighed. Garp did have a point.

Observation Haki came in many forms, and though Garp's was strong, Jon's was on another level entirely.

At this distance, Garp could only roughly sense the presence of people. But with so many warriors on both sides, their overlapping auras made it difficult to get a clear reading.

And more importantly, maintaining high-level Observation Haki over long periods was mentally exhausting.

"Fine, you're the boss. I'll do it."

Since he was familiar with Garp, Jon didn't bother being polite. He clicked his tongue in annoyance, then sat down cross-legged, closed his eyes, and focused his mind.

A moment later, he unleashed his Observation Haki.
