One Piece: My code name is Green Bull

Chapter 116: Destiny’s Chosen

"There are too many auras…"

The moment Jon activated his Observation Haki, he frowned. His range was immense, and instantly, an overwhelming flood of auras and sounds surged into his mind.

Human presences, marine life, even the countless plants beneath the ocean waves…

It was a deafening cacophony that even Jon found disorienting.

But he had long since grown accustomed to this. He swiftly filtered out most of the unnecessary noise, expanding his senses further, searching for the locations of Golden Lion's fleet and Roger's crew.

He wasn't sure of their exact coordinates, so he had to rely solely on his Haki to pinpoint their positions.

Within moments, his enhanced Observation Haki locked onto them. They were positioned to the right-front of his warship—approximately 70 degrees northwest—about ten nautical miles away.

That was roughly twenty kilometers on land. A considerable distance.

"Sengoku made us stop this far back? If something unexpected happens, it won't be easy to give chase."

Jon thought they were too far away. But orders were orders, and he wasn't in a position to question Sengoku's strategy.

Pushing the thought aside, he focused entirely on sensing the battlefield.

"What's happening? Have they started fighting yet?"

Kuzan, impatient as ever, couldn't help but pester Jon for an update. He didn't know exactly how strong Jon's Haki was, but judging by Garp's trust in him, it had to be exceptional.

Garp smacked Kuzan over the head. "Quit yappin', kid."

Kuzan looked aggrieved.

Jon, still seated with his eyes closed, spoke in a steady voice.

"I've found them. There are thousands of people in that area, many of them radiating strong auras. But because of the distance, I can't distinguish them clearly."

"What I can confirm is that Roger's crew is among them. And yes, they're completely surrounded. But for some reason… they haven't started fighting yet."

Jon had spent enough time aboard Roger's ship to recognize their unique auras, but Golden Lion's forces were unfamiliar to him.

Besides, with the distance between them, he couldn't afford to push his Haki too far. He had to be careful not to overextend himself.

"What else?" Garp pressed.

Jon opened his eyes, exasperated. "Vice Admiral Garp, you think I'm some kind of god? We're miles away! What I've sensed so far is already impressive. My Observation Haki is advanced, sure, but it's not a pair of eyes. I can't see anything."

Garp grumbled, "Tch, you whine too much. Always complainin' when I ask you to do something. You wanna get smacked—"

"Wait."

Garp had barely raised his fist when Jon suddenly interrupted him with a sharp exclamation.

Closing his eyes again, Jon concentrated for a few seconds before speaking.

"It's begun. The battle has started."

He had just sensed it—sudden fluctuations in the auras. Some auras had abruptly vanished. That could only mean one thing: people were dying.

The war had begun.

"They've started?!"

Garp immediately forgot about everything else. His eyes lit up with excitement.

"Yes. It's started. I can't see the details, but I can sense chaos. Many auras are flickering or disappearing, meaning there are already casualties. I can also feel powerful energy surges. Their strongest fighters have joined the fray."

Garp sighed. "Not being able to witness this battle up close… what a shame."

If he were alone, he might've risked sneaking closer just to watch the fight. But unfortunately, he was part of a full-scale naval operation. He couldn't just act on his own.

Sengoku must have also received word that Roger and Golden Lion had clashed. Shortly after, orders came down—the Navy fleet was to advance.

As the warships sailed forward for nearly an hour, something strange began to happen.

The sky ahead suddenly darkened.

Standing on the deck, Jon looked up and saw the rapid shift in the sky. Thick, ominous clouds gathered with unnatural speed.

His heart trembled.

"Is Roger really fate's chosen?"

Even though Jon's presence had caused some butterfly effects, it hadn't changed the course of history.

Had fate already decided that Roger would make his desperate comeback in the middle of this approaching storm?

Jon wasn't the only one to notice. The Navy sailors aboard the fleet's many ships all looked up at the storm brewing ahead.

That part of the sky was growing darker by the second.

"A storm? Now of all times?" Garp was surprised.

Kuzan muttered, "That came out of nowhere. Will this affect the battle?"

Dragon's eyes suddenly widened in shock.

His head snapped toward Jon, his gaze filled with disbelief.

He immediately recalled what Jon had said earlier—Don't be too quick to assume. Miracles happen.

Was this the miracle he had been referring to?!

But how was that possible?

Could Jon have known about the storm in advance?

That would be absurd.

However, when Dragon saw Jon's own face filled with surprise, he hesitated.

Did Jon not foresee this?

He almost asked, but after a moment's thought, he chose to remain silent.

Sengoku, of course, had also noticed the storm ahead. Even though the fleet was approaching the battlefield, he immediately ordered the ships to halt once more.

At sea, the most dangerous enemy was always nature itself.

If this turned into a full-scale hurricane, even the Navy's powerful fleet wouldn't be able to endure it.

Reluctantly, Sengoku issued the order to hold position.

And in just a matter of minutes, the storm intensified at an alarming rate.

The battlefield ahead was now completely shrouded in thunder and lightning.

Hurricane-force winds howled, and torrential rain began to pour.

A true storm had descended.

Meanwhile, Roger's crew was already fighting at full force.

Though they had managed to cut down many of Golden Lion's forces, they were still hopelessly outnumbered.

With only one ship, they had sustained severe damage.

Had it not been for Roger and his elite crew members, they would have been annihilated by now.

But even their incredible strength had limits.

Their battlefield was shrinking.

Golden Lion's powers had been devastating—he had nearly crushed them multiple times using floating islands as weapons.

At this moment, Golden Lion was certain of his victory.

However, he hadn't immediately gone for the kill. Instead, he had given Roger an offer—join him as his right-hand man.

Roger, ever the optimist, had used this opportunity to stall for time.

He refused to believe that his story would end here.

And against all odds—fate had answered.

A miracle had come.

As the storm raged around them, Roger's voice rang loud and clear, reigniting his crew's fighting spirit.

They wouldn't go down without a fight.

Golden Lion, seeing Roger's resolve, finally decided he had waited long enough.

He ordered his fleet to unleash their full might.

Roger and his crew were moments away from total destruction.

But just then—the storm fully unleashed its wrath.

A hurricane tore through the battlefield.

Roger's ship, and every other ship in the area, was completely at the mercy of nature's fury.

Helmsmen and navigators struggled to keep control—but against the storm's sheer power, they were utterly helpless.

In a matter of seconds, ships capsized.

Dozens sank beneath the waves.

Even Golden Lion's own flagship was caught in the chaos, rolling wildly in the towering waves.

Not even his Float-Float powers could counteract the storm's rage.

A grand battle, poised to decide the future of the seas—

Was instantly ended by the overwhelming force of nature.
