One Piece: My code name is Green Bull

Chapter 127: Encountering the BIG·MOM Pirates Again

"The sun is really nice today, perfect for sunbathing."

On the vast, endless sea, a Marine warship bearing the Marine insignia was slowly sailing across the waters.

Lying on a deck chair with his shirt off, Borsalino took a sip of wine and spoke with a satisfied expression.

On either side of him, two more deck chairs were occupied by other Marines.

"It's just that life at sea is way too boring. If we were at headquarters, at least we could go out and have some fun. Speaking of which, Borsalino, it's been a while since we last went out to… you know, enjoy ourselves, hasn't it?"

Sitting on the right, Peberton was also shirtless. However, unlike Borsalino, who had a lean and muscular build, Peberton was covered in layers of fat. Instead of the deck chair wrapping around him, it seemed more like he was enveloping the chair.

Compared to two years ago, Peberton had gained even more weight.

"Yeah, it's been a long time. Lately, just collecting my salary has been pretty dull."

Hearing the topic of having fun, Borsalino, who had been lazily relaxing, suddenly wore a melancholic expression.

On the leftmost chair, Jon lay with his eyes closed, listening to the conversation between these two and feeling utterly speechless.

These two were beyond saving—three sentences in, and they were already talking about that.

Back when he first joined the Marines, he had casually mentioned the word fun, but these two had completely twisted its meaning.

"Jon, tell me something—why are these pirates still so hyperactive, even after Roger disappeared? It's like they're parasites—no matter how many we catch, there are always more."

Peberton complained. As someone naturally lazy, spending months at sea hunting down pirates had been absolute torture for him.

"Simple—it's for wealth and fame. These people are either criminals, desperate individuals with no other options, or complete lunatics. That's why they choose to become pirates. For glory and riches, they don't even care about their lives.

Roger becoming the Pirate King has only fueled their ambitions. Trust me, this is just the beginning. Things will only get worse from here."

This was barely the start. Jon knew very well that the number of pirates would only continue to skyrocket in the future. The true peak of piracy would come when the Four Emperors reigned supreme.

Borsalino raised an eyebrow. "Jon, you're really underestimating the Marines. Do you really think we'll let these pirates multiply unchecked?"

Right now, the world was already overrun with pirates. Borsalino found it hard to believe things could get even worse.

"This isn't about whether the Marines are strong or weak. It's about the fact that Roger started a trend with serious consequences."

Jon shook his head.

Borsalino simply flipped onto his other side. "Well, whatever. Whether there are more or fewer pirates, it doesn't matter. As long as they run into me, they're not escaping."

Borsalino had recently been promoted to Commodore and could now lead his own fleet to hunt pirates. This time, he was the commanding officer, with Jon serving as his deputy and Peberton voluntarily tagging along.

Among the first graduates from Zephyr's training program, the ones who survived had all reached at least Commander rank. Peberton had even become a Captain before Jon.

A year ago, after Jon's suspension was lifted, he had only been a Lieutenant Commander. However, in just a year, he had captured numerous pirates, demonstrated his talent and strength, and gained support from Vice Admiral Tsuru. As a result, he had quickly been promoted to Captain.

"Borsalino, I heard you and Sakazuki are about to be promoted to Rear Admiral? That's pretty fast."

This was something Peberton had heard before setting sail, and he was quite envious. After all, his own uncle—a Rear Admiral—had already reached the peak of his career with no chance for further promotion.

Jon also raised an eyebrow. "Is that true?"

He wasn't entirely surprised, though. He knew how powerful Borsalino was. In fact, Borsalino was already strong enough to be a Vice Admiral.

Compared to many of the current Vice Admirals, Borsalino was far superior. If he hadn't been held back by bureaucracy, he might already hold that rank.

Borsalino simply shrugged. "You call that fast?"

Peberton was instantly speechless. He was older than Borsalino, yet still stuck at Captain. Meanwhile, Borsalino was already surpassing him.

"Forget it. Talking to you is pointless."

Grumbling to himself, Peberton suddenly asked, "By the way, this whole thing about Roger's crew disbanding—do you think it's actually true? It's been nearly a year with no news from them."

Jon rolled his eyes. "Do you even need to ask? Of course, it's true. If they were still together, do you really think they could stay quiet for this long?"

It had been nearly a year, and people were still doubting it? Jon found this ridiculous. He knew it wasn't just Peberton—many in the Marines still held onto their suspicions.

Peberton sighed. "What a shame. If we could capture even one of Roger's crew, we'd probably get promoted. But those guys are impossible to find."

Both the Marines and the World Government desperately wanted to know what Roger had discovered at the end of the Grand Line, but no matter how hard they searched, they couldn't find his crew.

"These guys are smart. It's not that easy to catch them."

Suddenly—

"Commodore Borsalino, we've spotted a pirate ship ahead!"

A Marine lookout shouted from the crow's nest.

Without even opening his eyes, Borsalino lazily waved his hand. "Why are you yelling? First, check which pirate crew it is. If they're just some no-names, handle it yourselves. Don't bother me."

A few moments later—

"Commodore Borsalino, the ship is flying the flag of the BIG·MOM Pirates!"

"BIG·MOM Pirates?"

Jon, who had been lounging casually, immediately sprang to his feet. Peberton also sat up, though much slower.

Even Borsalino, who rarely showed enthusiasm, reacted. "Wait, you mean that BIG·MOM?"

Jon's expression darkened. "Who else? This is a golden opportunity."

Among all pirate crews, the BIG·MOM Pirates were the ones Jon hated the most.

His first true defeat as a Marine had come at the hands of BIG·MOM, Charlotte Linlin. That battle had cost 800 elite soldiers their lives, and even Jon himself had faced severe punishment.

"Hand me a telescope."

Taking a deep breath, Jon adjusted his uniform as a soldier handed him a telescope.

He didn't use Observation Haki right away—he didn't want to alert them. If their crew had someone with strong Haki, they might detect his presence.

Peering through the lens, he confirmed it.

"It really is the BIG·MOM Pirates."

A cold, predatory grin spread across Jon's face.

"Borsalino, this ship belongs to me."
