Chapter 129: Wood Dragon Technique
Storming the Pirate Ship
After Borsalino's powerful attack, the pirate ship was slowed down significantly.
Taking advantage of the situation, Jon used Moonwalk to swiftly move through the air, closing in on the damaged ship.
Then—
BANG!
Jon landed heavily on the deck, the impact sending deep echoes through the ship.
"Enemy attack!"
The pirates had already spotted Jon moving in midair, and as soon as he landed, they immediately armed themselves, surrounding him.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Gunfire erupted instantly, but Jon's speed was beyond comprehension—his ghost-like movements made him impossible to hit.
He weaved through the pirate crew, dodging effortlessly—while, one by one, the pirates fell.
Oven Takes Action
"Bastard!"
Watching his men drop like flies, Oven roared in anger.
Forgetting about repairing the ship, he charged at Jon, throwing both fists forward with immense force.
BANG!
Their fists collided—
Oven was sent staggering backward, struggling to maintain balance.
Meanwhile, Jon hadn't even moved an inch.
Not giving the pirates any chance to recover, Jon clapped his hands together—
"Wood Dragon!"
Summoning the Dragon
Suddenly—
A massive dark brown wooden dragon emerged from Jon's side.
The Wood Dragon materialized from nothing, circling around Jon, its body stretching to an imposing length of over ten meters.
Its head was modeled after Jon's imagined dragon design, while its body was covered in sharp wooden spikes, making it look incredibly fierce.
The moment it appeared, the Wood Dragon let out a thunderous roar, shaking the ship—
Then, it lunged forward, smashing through the pirates, clearing the area—before heading straight for Oven.
"Get lost!"
With a furious shout, Oven threw a powerful punch at the Wood Dragon.
But to his shock, his full-strength attack barely made the Wood Dragon tremble—
Instead, the dragon used the opening to coil around him.
Oven is Captured
The ten-meter-long dragon wrapped around Oven's body at incredible speed, tightening its hold.
No matter how much Oven struggled—he couldn't break free.
"What the hell is this?!"
He used all his strength, trying to break loose—but something terrifying started happening.
His body felt weaker.
At first, he could still resist, but the more he struggled, the more he realized—
His strength was fading.
"What's happening?! Why is my power disappearing?!"
The True Power of the Wood Dragon
Standing on the deck, watching Oven's futile struggle, Jon's expression remained cold.
The Wood Dragon Technique was something he had spent the last year developing.
Not only could it create a massive, powerful dragon, but the Wood Dragon also possessed a special ability—
It drained the enemy's life force.
Once wrapped around a target, the Wood Dragon would continuously absorb their vitality—
If they couldn't escape, it would eventually drain them dry, leaving them a lifeless husk.
The Origin of the Wood Dragon
Jon had developed the Wood Dragon Technique thanks to an encounter on a mysterious island.
On one of the four legendary plant islands, he had discovered a unique plant species—
Something that was not quite a vine, not quite a flower, and not quite a tree.
It had no consciousness, yet its biological structure was unlike anything he had ever seen.
More importantly—
When it wrapped around him, it began draining his life force.
Even with Observation Haki and his plant-controlling abilities, he had been completely unable to influence it.
What's more—
It absorbed his life energy at an alarming rate.
Because Jon was highly attuned to his own life force, he could instantly sense the energy leaving his body.
Realizing its potential, he spent days researching the plant—
Until he finally replicated its properties.
Thus, the Wood Dragon Technique was born—
A technique similar to Wood Release from legend, but instead of absorbing chakra, it drained life force.
The only limitation was—
The Wood Dragon needed physical contact to drain energy.
Pirates Try to Save Oven
"Save Lord Oven!"
The remaining pirates rushed forward to free Oven.
But—
"Willow Blade!"
With a cold snort, Jon summoned countless green leaves, which hovered in the air—
Before shooting forward like knives!
Each leaf was as sharp as a blade, slicing through the pirates, killing many instantly.
Only a few managed to survive by blocking the attacks.
"Finger Pistol: Bamboo Strike!"
Without hesitation, Jon followed up with a rapid attack—
Using Shigan (Finger Pistol), but infusing it with plant-based energy.
The air bullets that shot out exploded on impact, sprouting sharp bamboo spikes that impaled his enemies.
Within seconds, the entire deck was covered in blood.
Watching his crew slaughtered before his eyes, Oven roared in rage—
But he was still completely helpless.
"Why is this happening?! Why is my strength fading?!"
He didn't realize that Jon's technique wasn't just draining his stamina—
It was draining his very life force.
Jon Confronts Oven
Soon—
Only Oven remained standing.
Jon gazed at him coldly.
"Judging by your reaction, I'm guessing you're an officer of the Big Mom Pirates," Jon said.
"You're Charlotte Linlin's son, aren't you?"
"Shut up!" Oven growled.
"How dare you insult Mama?! I'll kill you!"
But Jon simply smirked.
"So I was right," he mused.
"That makes this even better. She's killed so many of my people—so I'll kill her son in return. I wonder… will she mourn for you?"
Jon doubted it.
In his opinion, Big Mom probably wouldn't care much—
She loved sweets more than her own children.
Oven's eyes burned with fury, but suddenly, realization struck him.
"Wait…"
His face paled.
"You're that Marine… the one who beat Brother Katakuri?"
A few years ago, Katakuri had lost a fight—
To a Marine who used plant-based abilities.
In the end, it had taken Big Mom herself to eliminate that Marine's team.
But…
"You were supposed to be dead! Mama killed you! Why are you still alive?!"
Jon grinned darkly.
"You guessed right. Too bad there's no prize."
Now he understood why some members of the Big Mom Pirates knew about him—
He was the Marine who had defeated Katakuri, triggering Big Mom's wrath.
"Since you know who I am, you should also know—"
"My hatred for your crew runs deep."
"You were just unlucky to run into me."
Oven's face twisted in fear as his body grew weaker and weaker.
"You can't kill me! If you do, Mama and Katakuri will hunt you down!"
Jon smirked.
"Good. I'd love to see them try."
Suddenly—
A golden light flashed nearby.
Borsalino appeared, smirking.
"Whoa, Jon~ You work fast."
"Did you have to kill them all already?"
