One Piece: My Name is Jack, I'm Very Resistant to Beating

Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Jack, I’m Still Young

Kaido went to great lengths to pass those two Ancient Zoan Devil Fruits to the Ulti and Page One siblings in such a roundabout way. It wasn't just to avoid appearing too obvious—he also wanted to appease the Tobiroppo and offer them an explanation. After all, even among the Tobiroppo, not everyone was a Devil Fruit user. Quite a few of them had been eyeing those Ancient Zoans greedily for a while.

To Jack, Kaido often felt like a brilliant schemer, a lover of indulgence, and someone who couldn't resist stirring things up. Above all, he had an exceptional attitude toward talent.

As long as you were skilled, Kaido was extremely tolerant of you—even if you were an enemy. He'd spare your life, hoping you might one day join the Beasts Pirates.

But, come on, Boss. You just let people walk away scot-free! If it weren't for your soft spot, I wouldn't have nearly been hacked to death.

Jack had always been dismissive of Kaido's leniency.

The Beasts Pirates were different from other crews. Even as a newcomer, if you had strength, you could rise quickly and become an officer. After all, in a crew that valued strength above all else, Kaido's rules ensured only the fittest survived—and Kaido himself had the confidence to back it up.

This world wasn't like the Three Kingdoms. Here, a top-tier fighter could take on hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of enemies alone. Pirates weren't soldiers, they didn't need military strategy or formations. They lived for the thrill of bloodshed and the spoils of their raids. Loyalty to the strong was their natural instinct. Asking them to train like marines? They'd rather join the Navy.

Kaido, with his overwhelming power, could've ruled the Beasts Pirates with an iron fist. But instead, he chose to respect his officers' opinions, sharing wealth and consulting on strategies. The catch? If you wanted Kaido's respect, you had to prove yourself—talent and strength were non-negotiable. Otherwise, you'd end up as his drunken punching bag.

And that, in a way, was part of Kaido's charm. In this world, low-ranking lackeys were everywhere, but finding capable officers was a challenge. At least from Jack's perspective, the current Tobiroppo were far from meeting the standard.

The only reason some of them held their positions was because Kaido had chosen the tallest midgets among the short. Two or three of them only managed to rise above the "True Fighters" rank due to seniority. In terms of real combat power, even Rim (Rim!) could probably outmatch them.

Kaido, deep down, you're a sentimental guy, aren't you?

As Jack made his way through the entertainment district, he passed a group of lively, giggling women. At the far end, he pushed open a door, greeted by the sight of Black Maria lounging sideways, a pipe in hand, surrounded by a cloud of smoke and a few other women.

"Jack-sama is here... Heh heh..."

The women giggled and got up to leave.

"Maria-sama, we'll take our leave now."

Jack couldn't help but feel amused and a little perplexed. How had Maria grown even more stunning in just a few months? Did she eat some kind of stimulant or something?

This world was strange. Tall people often had odd body proportions—short legs, mismatched torsos. Jack found it hideous. Determined to avoid such a fate, he focused on leg training, improving his agility and endurance. He figured it was a triple win: better proportions, more flexibility, and greater stamina.

As the last of the women left, their whispered, risqué jokes reached Jack's ears. He frowned. Were they corrupting his Maria?

After bolting the door, Jack's face lit up with a grin as he approached Black Maria.

"What brings you here? Did Kaido-san let you off the hook already?"

Maria's voice was sultry and teasing, her tone so lazily mature it sent shivers down Jack's spine.

"And you, Jack," she continued with a smirk, "didn't think you'd have a taste for someone like Yamato. Aren't you afraid you'll break her by accident?"

Jack flinched at the accusation, immediately adopting a defensive smile.

"Come on, Maria! What do you take me for? I'm a gentleman!"

Maria let out a soft laugh, clearly unimpressed. "Gentleman? You? Please."

She rolled her eyes and added, "A gentleman wouldn't gift me an illustrated "book" or stash a copy of Kato Cleanspring's 72 Techniques in his room."

Jack froze.

What?!

"How do you know about that?!" he stammered, flipping Maria onto her back in panic.

Maria pinched him hard, scolding, "How could I not? Yamato found it in your room last month. She didn't understand it and went straight to Kaido-sama to ask him!"

Jack's jaw dropped. "Last month?! That explains why Kaido been beating me up every day!"

"You're hopeless," Maria said, leaning in closer. Her face flushed red as she added, "Oh, and your book? It's with Kaido-san now. Liyah-san even came by to ask me if there were any secret techniques in it meant for women. I was mortified!"

Liyah? Jack blinked, finally piecing it together. Ah, the tall, leggy auntie from Kaido's... uh... special circle.

Kaido, that was a masterpiece from my past life, crafted with painstaking effort and vivid memories of countless teachers. And you just took it like that? Seriously?!
