Chapter 650: Chapter 624: Don’t Let a Family’s Wealth Flow into the Hands of Outsiders (Thanks to kateliu for the silver reward +10 more)

“Indeed, when she sees these things, she’s not quite herself. It seems as if her entire being is off, her actions are sluggish, and at times she says she hears a constant buzzing in her ears, but I can’t hear it.”

“Depressive symptoms, the slowing down of movement, and suffering from tinnitus…”, Xiao Qian quickly made a conclusion.

Ye Xiaoyu, aggravated, pushed Xiao Qian, “You’ve been treating Meiwei and her condition is only getting worse!”

“Why are you bullying my Sister-in-law?! She’s been trying her best, don’t you understand?!” Liu Mei pushed back instantly, while Xiao Qian was deeply engrossed in thoughts about WeiWei’s peculiar state.

Ye Xiaoyu had just mentioned KFC before, and according to Liu Mei, Weiwei’s symptoms became serious at the fried chicken shop. KFC and the fried chicken shop are similar, so Xiao Qian’s suspicion was confirmed.

Darn, that despicable man, Xiao Qian thought angrily as she stared at Weiwei. She felt so heartbroken for Weiwei and began to understand why Weiwei placed a poisonous snake on the place of her father’s photograph.

Poor child…

“Everyone shut up… just shut up, it’s so annoying!” Weiwei, who had been expressionless, suddenly lost her temper, grabbed a cup from the table, and threw it against the wall. It shattered on impact, scattering shards everywhere.

Ye Xiaoyu ceased her squabble with Liu Mei, staring at Weiwei in shock, her face turned pale. The current state of Weiwei really made her look ill, and it greatly concerned Ye Xiaoyu.

Weiwei seemed to be unsure of why she lost her temper so abruptly. She helplessly clutched her head and began softly crying.

Weiwei’s uncontrollable behavior and declining cognitive efficiency were clear signs of depression. Xiao Qian motioned for Ye Xiaoyu and Liu Mei to step outside while she walked over to Weiwei.

She wanted to help Weiwei cope with this challenging bout of depression.

As Xiao Qian was treating Weiwei, Ye Xiaoyu paced restlessly in her room while Liu Mei tried her best to console her.

“Don’t worry, trust in my sister-in-law, there’s no use in getting anxious.”

“Can Meiwei really handle this? Seeing Weiwei in this state worries me…” Ye Xiaoyu was burning with anxiety.

“She can. My sister-in-law is the best Psychologist. That’s what my brother told me,” Liu Mei offered with naive simplicity. Liu Mei idolized her cousin and would only vouch for those he approved. It was that simple.

Seeing how worried Ye Xiaoyu was, Liu Mei casually praised her.

“I really hated you at first because you were after something that didn’t belong to you. But, I realized that you are exceptionally good to your little sister. In the words of my sister-in-law, good people have a bad side and bad people have a good side too. So, I’ve stopped disliking you so much.”

Ye Xiaoyu was worried about her sister’s situation and had the urge to apply makeup as her Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) was kicking in. She was about to get her make-up kit but paused upon hearing Liu Mei’s praise. Her restlessness seemed to subside as she felt Xiao Qian’s voice, faint but encouraging.

Gaining confidence from sincere praise…

Ye Xiaoyu realized that she no longer felt the urge to apply make-up. Her faith in Xiao Qian, who was just behind a wall, increased considerably. It was a strange feeling, one that words failed to describe.

Once Xiao Qian managed to stabilize Weiwei’s condition, she wanted to proceed to hypnotize Weiwei in order to understand what had happened in the past. Although Xiao Qian had some speculations, she wanted to confirm them herself.

Considering Weiwei’s unstable state, performing hypnosis seemed risky, so Xiao Qian abstained. She decided to stick to the most conservative treatment instead.

First, she needed to stabilize Weiwei’s condition, after that, she would deal with that despicable man.

Soon, a week had passed. Weiwei’s condition was getting better with the help of medication and Xiao Qian. Moreover, Liu Mei noticed something surprising – Ye Xiaoyu was going to bed without her makeup on!

Although she was still spending a lot of time doing her makeup in the morning, it surprised Liu Mei that she was bare-faced during her morning workouts. Xiao Qian, whose influence was slowly withering away, continued her work and life unconcerned, whereas Ye Xiaoyu could suspect that Xiao Qian had something to do with her behavior change since it gradually happened after sleeping over at Xiao Qian’s place. But, she was reluctant to admit it.

Even though Ye Xiaoyu seemed to disdain Xiao Qian, even Liu Mei could tell that Ye Xiaoyu’s attitude towards Xiao Qian was becoming increasingly respectful. She did all the house chores perfectly, although she occasionally snap at Xiao Qian.

Ye Xiaoyu found it impossible to take advantage of Xiao Qian’s words and always ended up being roasted by her. Liu Mei felt Ye Xiaoyu’s attitude was improving the more she got roasted. Now, Xiao Qian was greeted with a cup of coffee prepared by Ye Xiaoyu every day when she came back home. Considering that only Xiao Qian enjoyed that beverage in the house, no one believed Ye Xiaoyu’s denials that she had made the coffee for her.

On the weekend, Xiao Qian was not required to live broadcast. She spent her time at home, applying a face mask and listening to music. It had been a week since her pet Xiao Qiang had gone missing, which worried Xiao Qian slightly.

Someone rang the doorbell. After Xiao Qian opened the door, she saw Qiuqiu, who looked utterly distraught, standing outside with a case of beer on his shoulder.

“Boss Qian, I need some consoling! Need a hug!” Qiuqiu placed the beers down and gave Xiao Qian a distressed hug.

Ye Xiaoyu happened to witness the scene as she was returning from grocery shopping with Weiwei. She quickly went home, took out a small notebook, and wrote down:

“On the date of _____, a young man with a Mohawk hairstyle visited Meiwei’s house. He said: I need comforting, I need a h—”, she wanted to write ‘hug’, but recalling Xiao Qian’s compliment about her cooking earlier that day, Ye Xiaoyu paused and scratched out the words ‘a hug’, mumbling,

“It doesn’t mean I like you, it’s a record for Ming Lang to read.”

Under Xiao Qian’s influence, Ye Xiaoyu was subtly changing, but she was unwilling to admit it.

“Sister-in-law, do we have a guest—Ah, it’s you!” Liu Mei, wearing the same face mask as Xiao Qian, came out from her room, pointing in surprise at Qiuqiu.

“You are—?” Qiuqiu didn’t understand why women would apply such weird substances on their faces. Although his body was female, his mind and psyche were male.

“Me? I’m the unfortunate one you rejected!” Liu Mei took off her mask to reveal her face to Qiuqiu.

Both of them had previously competed for the same job and Liu Mei was the one who failed to get it.

“Ah, it’s you!” Qiuqiu recognised Liu Mei then.

“I really liked that school. The environment seemed nice, but it’s better that I get rejected by you instead of someone else. As my sister-in-law says, it’s better to keep opportunities within our circle.” Liu Mei spoke magnanimously.

Qiuqiu sighed, “I guess this time it really did go to someone else, because I was also fired. Boss Qian! I need comforting, I need a hug!”

Xiao Qian was puzzled and before she could ask, Liu Mei questioned him first.

“How did you get fired? Both of us were in the final round, how come both of us got rejected?”
