Chapter 11
“So… what are we doing here?”
In front of me stood the entrance made of stone.
“Isn’t it because you wanted to know about your abilities?”
Despite no one being around, I could hear the voice. It was coming directly into my mind, so no one else could hear it.
The voice belonged to Eve, the administrator of my Blessing. Since Eve and I were connected through the Blessing, we could communicate like this.
“Yeah, I did say that, but we could’ve done this back home, right?”
I had rested well and recovered physically, yet I still found myself questioning why Eve had guided me here, in the middle of the night no less.
“This is one of my abilities. I can detect nearby dungeons.”
“Ah, I see. Alright, let’s go back.”
Still, Eve, ever so relaxed, didn’t seem to share my sentiment.
“Come on, let’s go inside. It’s rare to find an unexplored dungeon nearby. We’re lucky.”
“No, no. What are you talking about?”
Did she forget that I nearly got lost in a dungeon last time?
“Don’t worry. This one’s much younger than the last. It’s like a child compared to the previous dungeon.”
Do dungeons have ages?
As I was processing this new revelation, Eve began to persuade me to enter, insisting on guiding me into the dungeon.
“Wow, there’s water flowing here.”
Once we passed through the entrance, the atmosphere changed completely.
The space was cut off from the outside world, with water flowing from the rocks, and the air was fresh.
There was a slight chill in the air, but it felt oddly pleasant.
“This atmosphere isn’t bad.”
I was starting to relax, enjoying the peaceful environment, when Eve suddenly spoke up.
“Master, enemies are approaching from the front.”
I looked ahead, and sure enough, a few small monsters were making their way toward us.
“I told you this would happen. Honestly, that many is a bit troublesome.”
The monsters that appeared were Frost Goblins, similar to the goblins I had fought not long ago.
However, considering I had struggled against even a single goblin, fighting multiple ones would be a real challenge.
“Guess I have no choice. I’ll try to hold on as long as I can…”
I drew my dagger and tried to intimidate the monsters.
“Master, please hold out your palm.”
“Huh? Why?”
I couldn’t help but ask in surprise at Eve’s sudden instruction.
“It’s fine. Just trust me. Come on!”
Eve seemed unbothered by the situation, not seeing this as a threat at all, and she urged me on.
I sheathed my dagger and extended my hand toward the Frost Goblins ahead. Then…
“Is this okay? What do I do now?”
While I fumbled, the goblins kept advancing.
“Focus your aim on the center of the goblins and say this—”
I felt a strange tingling sensation in my arm. Something was gathering, like energy concentrating before an explosion—
“Fire!”
In the next instant, a massive flame erupted from my arm, incinerating the goblins before me in an instant. The fire didn’t stop there—it continued forward with unrelenting force, crashing into a wall hundreds of meters away, creating a deafening explosion that left a deep crater in the stone.
“…Hey, Eve?”
“Yes, Master?”
“What… was that?”
“That was the weakest Fire spell—Fire.”
“That was… Fire?”
From what I remembered, Fire was supposed to be a basic spell, something to light a campfire. That was far more powerful than I ever expected—wasn’t this more like the high-level Flare spell?
“No, that was definitely not Flare. That was just Fire.”
I could imagine Eve saying this with a proud tone.
“So this is your ability?”
“What are you talking about? That was your power, Master.”
“My power?”
“The World allows you to use the power of the cores you absorb. This time I assisted, but once you learn how, you should be able to use it on your own. After that, you’ll be able to cast spells with your own will.”
“So, if I collect the cores of every element, does that mean I can use magic from all attributes?”
“Exactly. That’s why you need to gather all the cores as soon as possible.”
In this world, magic was a vital ability.
Those who could wield magic, especially those with a specialized Blessing, would generally become mages. They’d refine their dominant element and use it in their work. Using other elements required years of practice and training.
And yet…
“Just to confirm, if I collect all the elemental cores, I’ll be able to use magic from every attribute, right?”
My heart was pounding, and I felt an excitement I couldn’t suppress.
“Yes, that’s correct. Plus, there are many different kinds of magic depending on the core, so it’s best to collect as many as you can.”
“Seriously…”
I tried casting Fire again. This time, I focused on consciously controlling the power, reducing the intensity.
—Gooooooo—
“Got it.”
Once I figured out the trick, it wasn’t that hard. The spell was still powerful, but now I was able to cast it consciously.
“With this magic, even a dungeon of this level is no match for you.”
No wonder Eve wasn’t fazed. With this kind of power, I could turn anything that came my way into ashes.
“Let’s start by collecting the core of this dungeon.”
At Eve’s words, I couldn’t contain the surge of excitement bubbling inside me.
