Chapter 12
“It’s so hot…”
I sat up from the bed, wiping the sweat off my face.
“Good morning, Master. How was your sleep?”
Eve spoke to me as soon as I woke up.
“It was better than sleeping on the ground, I guess.”
This was inside The World, where I had been resting. After going into the dungeon, I had encountered quite a few monsters, which made me gradually tired.
Since that was the case, I decided to retreat inside for a break.
“It’s understandable. You haven’t obtained the other cores yet.”
Since I was resting anyway, Eve had used her powers to manipulate the ground and create a bed for me. However, the texture of the material didn’t feel much different from the ground, so it wasn’t the most comfortable.
“By the way, can’t you lower the temperature a bit more?”
The overall temperature inside was high. If I stayed here for too long, dehydration could become a real problem.
“Yes. That’s exactly why I brought you to the water dungeon.”
“Oh? And what’s the reasoning behind that?”
“Once we acquire the water core, you’ll be able to regulate the temperature using both fire and water. It’s essential for setting up a proper foundation for living.”
It seemed Eve was thinking ahead for me in her own way.
“Now, now, we’re almost there. Let’s quickly clear the dungeon.”
“Seriously. I’m starting to wonder who the master is here.”
Even though I grumbled, I had no objections. I stretched and equipped myself, preparing to head out.
“And here we are, at the final stage.”
Inside the cave, there was a lake with a bridge stretching out across it, leading to the center. The water in the lake was the clearest I had ever seen, shimmering and sparkling in the light.
“My throat’s dry. I could really use some water…”
I wondered if it would be safe to drink, contemplating it for a moment.
“Then could you please raise your hand to catch it?”
“Huh?”
I didn’t fully understand, but I agreed, and suddenly a black cup appeared in my palm.
“What’s this?”
I was confused about when I had even received it, but Eve answered.
“This is a simple application of the technique I used earlier. Using the core’s power, I created a cup for you, just like I made the bed inside.”
It seemed that, as long as we were indoors, Eve could freely create things like walls and furniture. I wondered if I could ask her to make me some other items in the future.
“Once you’re done drinking, let me know. I’ll take it back.”
I scooped some water into the cup and drank it in one go.
“Ahh! This is amazing!”
Unlike any water I’d had before, this one had no impurities at all.
“According to my analysis, this water would be perfect for making potions. Alchemists would love this.”
I couldn’t argue with that. There were indeed requests where you had to fetch crystal-clear water for potions.
I held the cup tightly, thinking for a while.
“Master, is something on your mind?”
“Hey, Eve. You gave me the cup earlier, right?”
“Yes. Since we are connected, we can transfer items back and forth as long as we both agree.”
This was what I expected to hear.
“Then, can you make something like a jar?”
“Uh… yes, I can… but why?”
Eve seemed confused, the first time I’d heard her sound uncertain.
“Well, make one and send it to me. And while you’re at it, can you make me a tool to scoop water?”
After a short while, I received a jar, and I quickly filled it with water. It was quite a task, but I figured it was better to do it now than to worry about it later.
Once the jar was full, I spoke up.
“Alright. Can you collect this jar now?”
“Understood.”
The jar disappeared from in front of me.
“Could you please explain your reasoning behind this?”
“Well, good-quality water sells for quite a high price.”
It was a fairly common request at the Explorer’s Guild—fetching water was tough work since it involved fighting monsters and carrying the water over long distances, so not many people took up the job.
“With my ability, I thought I could transport as much as I wanted without breaking a sweat.”
As long as I could reach the final stage, I could gather as much water as I needed. And if I couldn’t sell it, water wouldn’t be something I’d have trouble with. I could use it to irrigate crops or for hygiene.
“I see. You truly are remarkable, Master. I never would have thought of such a simple use for it.”
Eve sounded genuinely impressed.
“I want to stock up a bit, so keep sending me jars.”
“Of course, Master.”
Eve gave her most enthusiastic reply yet and continued to create jars on my command.
“Ugh. I’ve gathered quite a bit. How many do we have now?”
After working nonstop, with the occasional monster being dispatched with magic, quite a bit of time had passed.
“We have 55 jars.”
With one jar being enough to complete a request, I had more than enough stock for now.
“Alright, let’s go after the water dungeon core and then head out.”
“Okay! This means I can use my new power now!”
We made our way to the central pedestal, where I spotted a light blue stone.
Compared to the fire dungeon core, it was slightly smaller.
I removed it and sent it to Eve.
“Hehehe. What a cute, cool core. I’ll set it up right away…”
She seemed thrilled as she carefully placed it into position on the pedestal.
“Master, please hold out your hand.”
“I’ve got it.”
“Now, please say Water.”
It seemed like she was about to teach me a new spell. I focused on keeping the power low and spoke.
“Water!”
A powerful stream of water shot out and splashed against the wall, bursting on impact.
“There we go! Now you’ve got water magic!”
In just one day, I had acquired two elemental magics. As I listened to Eve’s words, I couldn’t help but marvel at the sheer magnitude of this power.
