Chapter 808: One More Day
"You want to go there this instant?" Damien calmly asked Kenneth, trying not to be judgmental about it.
Kenneth frantically nodded his head and said while showing a sense of urgency, "Yes. You would do me a big favor if you would take me there."
Damien could understand why Kenneth was so restless about going to that town that instant. If he was in Kenneth's place, then he also wouldn't have wasted a second and would have stormed off in search of his birth mother.
However, no matter how much Damien wanted to agree to Kenneth's request, there was a slight problem.
"Umm…" Damien softened the tone of his voice and nervously adjusted his hair. Then he tried to make Kenneth understand that he wouldn't be able to agree to his request without sounding too off-putting, "Don't get me wrong, Kenneth. But I haven't been to that particular town before. And I cannot teleport to a place where I have never been to."
"Oh…" The expectant look on Kenneth's face instantly died down. And before Damien could suggest an alternative, he dejectedly announced, "Then I guess I should start running. That would be faster than the carriages."
Kenneth was so eager to get to the bottom of the truth that he didn't want to wait for a second more. He immediately turned around and then went to grab the door handle.
Damien couldn't bear to see him like that, disoriented and restless. He was afraid that Kenneth would end up in a completely different place or would end up getting stuck in some problems if he ran off just like that.
"Kenneth, wait!" Damien quickly grabbed Kenneth's arm and then said, "How about this? I could at least teleport you to the Paradise Edge. And from there, we could ask around and find that village. That way, it could save a lot of your time and energy."
"Ah! Right!" A subtle smile finally appeared on Kenneth's face. "I had forgotten that you have been to Aberdeen before," he said, glad that Damien had sneakily followed all of them during their travel.
He then held out his hand as if to do a handshake and then asked Damien, "Then will you accompany me?" The look in his eyes turned sadder when he gazed into Damien's eyes and softly mumbled, "I could… use a friend."
Damien instantly took Kenneth's hand. He was happy to hear that Kenneth considered him a friend. And he was also happy that he could actually be of some help to Kenneth. "I would love to go along with you," he replied while giving Kenneth a comforting smile.
It seemed like Damien was also affected by restlessness of Kenneth. He completely forgot that they needed to inform at least one person before disappearing from there.
Though both of them could hear the sound of footsteps approaching the room they were in, Damien didn't wait for whoever it was to appear.
He tightened his grip on Kenneth's hand and then asked, "So, are you ready?"
Kenneth took a deep breath before gulping and then closing his eyes. He took a step closer to Damien and then held Damien's hand with both of his hands. Finally, he nodded and said, "Yes, I am."
Damien instantly closed his eyes and the first spot of the Paradise Edge that came to his mind was the cloth shop where he had pretended to see some clothes when Ariel had noticed his aura for the first time.
Surely enough, that was the place where the two of them popped when they opened their eyes after a couple of seconds.
The owner of that cloth shop was busy hanging a few clothes. And when he turned around to pick up some more clothes from the counter, he jumped back when he saw two young men staring back at him.
"Oh! Didn't see you there, gentlemen," the shopkeeper gave a nervous laugh and then greeted Damien and Kenneth.
He quickly looked at Kenneth from top to bottom, and then welcomed both of the customers to his shop, "Please welcome, Milords. You may take a look around. And if you like any–"
"Actually…" Damien interjected the shopkeeper and then asked, "We don't want to buy clothes. We just wanted to ask you if you know how we can get to the village called Stormford."
The shopkeeper looked a little disheartened when he realized that those rich-looking men weren't there to buy clothes from his shop, especially when it looked like one of them needed to buy.
However, he still tried to be of some assistance to them, "Stormford… Hmm… I think it lies in the southern part of the Kingdom, past the Enchanted Valley."
He went outside his shop and then said while pointing at the far end of the road, "You can ask those carriages there to get precise information. They keep on traveling to the southern region, so they might be able to give you the exact location."
Kenneth immediately stormed out of the shop and stormed towards the place where a handful of local carriages were waiting for the travelers.
Damien, on the other hand, gave a polite smile to the shopkeeper. "Thank you so much for your help. We both are very grateful." He then put his hand inside the pocket of his waistcoat so that he could reward the shopkeeper for the information.
"Oh no!" That was when he realized that he had kept a few gold pieces in his possession in his surcoat, which he wasn't wearing today.
Damien then awkwardly looked at the shopkeeper, who was expecting to get some reward because he was rummaging through his pocket, and then apologized while giving a guilty smile, "Please excuse me. It looks like I forgot to bring the gold with me. I will visit your shop later and get something for myself."
"Ah! That is alright." The shopkeeper gave a polite smile and bowed, hoping that Damien would remember his promise and come back again to purchase his clothes. But he doubted that it would happen. Stay tuned for updates on My Virtual Library Empire
When Damien also stormed off from there, the shopkeeper looked in their direction and then mumbled to himself, "I think those gentlemen got robbed by someone."
He sighed and looked at Kenneth's blurry figure and then mumbled, "That conman should have at least let that gentleman wear his clothes. The poor man is walking around the streets in his bedrobe."
There on the street, when Damien appeared in front of Kenneth, Kenneth instantly asked, "Have you been to the Enchanted Valley before?"
Damien shook his head and said, "I have heard about that place because it's the capital town of Aberdeen. But I have never been there before." He then asked, "The village we are looking for is near that town?"
"Yes, the shopkeeper was right." Kenneth pointed his brows at the coachman of one of the carriages and said, "He said that it's a one-hour ride from there."
He had hoped that Damien could teleport them to the Enchanted Valley and then they could run from there. However, he let out a disappointed sigh and then mumbled, "Well… it looks like we have to travel by carriage from here then. It would have taken a day less if only you had been to that town before."
"Hmmm…" Damien hummed for a while and then proposed an alternative, "How about we ask for directions and run?"
"Shh!" Kenneth instantly widened his eyes and shushed Damien. And he softly whispered, "This is the Kingdom of werewolves. Our kind isn't really welcome here. So, we have to be cautious."
"Oh! I forgot about that part." Damien understandingly nodded his head and then agreed to take the carriage. "Then one more day of travel it is."
