She Belongs To The Devil

Chapter 818: Collided

With steps as light as that of a mouse, Damien treaded the thick forest with caution. If the coachman had indeed been abducted or harmed by someone or something, he wanted to make sure that he didn't engage unless he was sure what he was dealing with.

Although he was more than capable of handling a few humans, some wild beasts, or even a pack of werewolves on his own, he didn't want to jump in and accidentally kill a few of those Earthlings.

It was a miracle that even after killing a human in the past in the fit of his rage and bloodlust, no one had caught up to his unforgivable sin. Or even if they did, no one had taken any action against him yet.

And by killing some more of the Earthlings, he didn't want to provoke any powerful entities, especially Ariel's grandfather.

"I can't afford to be careless while I am here on Earth," Damien thought to himself as he looked deep into the forest.

Within a few minutes of putting his feet into the forest, Damien found the prints of shoes that went towards the forest. "This must be that coachman's… So, he wasn't abducted? Was he just wandering around on his own?" he thought to himself as he closely followed those footprints.

It had been only a few minutes since he followed the trail of those footsteps when it suddenly disappeared from the forest floor.

"Eh? Where did it suddenly disappear?" Damien frantically looked around and wondered to himself.

That particular patch of the forest floor was covered with mushy leaves, and it was hard for Damien to locate the footprints just based on the pressure applied to those mushy leaves.

He tried to use his sharp sense of smell to locate that coachman, but he caught all sorts of smells that he wasn't used to, and he only got a headache by sniffing excessively.

"Ugh! Nevermind. I think I should just teleport to that man," Damien angrily mumbled and then readied himself.

However, just as he was about to do so, his eyes fell on a few sets of footprints, or rather, a few sets of paw prints which weren't too far away from where he was standing at the moment. "Whoa!" he exclaimed.

"Did he get dragged away by some animal?" Damien wondered to himself while closing the gap in the blink of an eye and narrowing his eyes at those prints on the ground.

He crouched down and then took a closer look at the shape and the size of those prints. Those prints looked very similar to the ones he had seen several times before. He even sniffed a few times to catch the lingering smell in the air.

He narrowed his eyes further and then mumbled, "Werewolves! No wonder his footprints suddenly disappeared."

Damien quickly got back up on his feet and cast the invisibility spell on himself. Then he followed the paw prints for a while thinking that those werewolves were somewhere near, considering how they had presumably abducted the coachman.

However, after following the trail for a while, those several sets of prints suddenly scattered around in several directions.

Damien stood there for a while, fisting on his hips and then looking around, trying to decide which path to take.

"Why did they suddenly scatter around though?" Damien thought to himself while trying to find the clue by looking at the surrounding.

After taking some steps, he noticed how there were claw marks on some trees, and also the bushes were trampled haphazardly as though those werewolves were fleeing from something.

"Another pack of werewolves? Or are they running away from something else?" he thought to himself as he cautiously examined the area around him.

Suddenly, his ears caught the sound of a few werewolves howling in the distance.

Damien narrowed his eyes in that direction and in an instant, he rushed towards that area at the speed of the wind. Read exclusive chapters at My Virtual Library Empire

He could now hear the sound of footsteps very close by. "Do they have that coachman with them though?" he thought to himself as he kept on following the rustling sound ahead of him. "If he is not with them, then my time and effort will only go to waste."

Right as he was about to spring out of tall bushes to catch up with those werewolves, something came swooshing in like a catapulted boulder and collided with Damien.

"Argh!" Damien grunted as his body hit the huge trunk of a nearby tree and then collapsed to the ground.

Before he could look to see what it was that made him tumble to the ground, a huge wolf jumped on him and stepped right on his chest.

"Argh!" he let out a muffled grumble again.

That werewolf, on the other hand, looked utterly confused since it could feel Damien under its paw but it couldn't see who it was stepping on.

Rather than grabbing that wolf and throwing it aside, Damien sealed his lips together and stopped breathing, hoping that it would leave him alone if he didn't attack first.

From the way they had collided earlier, it was clear to him that the werewolf happened to crash against him because he was invisible. It wasn't an intentional attack. Thus, there was no need to get violent where it wasn't necessary.

Unlike what Damien wanted though, that werewolf didn't immediately step away or leave Damien alone. Rather, it brought its snout dangerously closer to Damien's face and started to sniff.

"What the hell is it doing?" Damien tightly clutched his fists because he was itching to punch that werewolf in the face. But he still endured for a while thinking that it would leave him alone once it found out that he wasn't a threat. "Just leave me alone already!"

Again, contrary to his expectation, that wolf suddenly began wagging its tail and gently scratching its paw on Damien's chest as though it recognized him by his scent.

"Does it know me or something?" Damien thought to himself while staring at that werewolf's face.

That white wolf had a few brown patches of fur on its body. But Damien found it hard to tell if he had met that werewolf before or not. Though no werewolves looked identical, Damien thought that most of the werewolves looked the same.

So, he kept on quietly laying down without breaking his invisibility spell.

When Damien didn't reveal himself even after that wolf tried to give hints that it was harmless, it plopped down beside Damien and then began to roll over and wiggle as if it wanted to play. It looked as though that wasn't a huge wolf but a cute puppy when it rolled on the ground.

However, that also didn't seem to work. So, the wolf suddenly stopped fooling around and then sat up straight.

That werewolf suddenly started to transform back into its human form.

"Uhhh…" Damien raised his brows and kept on watching the transformation that was happening in front of him.

And within the next minute, Damien was surprised to see a very young girl sitting beside him.

She had curious look in her beautiful doe eyes, and a mischievous smile on her lips. Her long raven black hair fell over her thin yet sturdy-looking cloth. She looked at the ground as if she could clearly see where Damien was lying down.

She then slightly tilted her head to the side and then mumbled, "Damien? Is that you?"
