Chapter 85: Aftermath
With the spells Night Silver had used earlier losing their effects, the castle began to show progress on its repairs. All castle guild bases had an auto repair function, it really only cost a degree of gold to pull it off. Even so, it took time to fully finish the repairs. During this time the Castle was made off limits for everyone. The cat maids made sure to keep everyone out, injuries clear on their bodies. Even the maids they had created were treated terribly by the human supremacists.
While the castle was closed down, the god of death Surshana walked the halls. He was mentally preparing himself for the moment he would inevitably witness the lifeless bodies of his friends. How will I react? Vengeful? Sorrowful? Or will I just not care about what happened? The fact I'm thinking like this also scares me… Or does it? I don't know… I guess this body of mine really did change my mental state. The body has an influence on one's thoughts… I wonder if it is the same way for Sister Nature? Though in her case there hasn't ever been a soul that thought she was ever a man… At least I don't think so anyway… I didn't know she used to be a man until we all found ourselves here. Ah, it doesn't matter now. I'm almost in the room…
Sushana walked into the room where his friends laid in pools of their own fluids. "They didn't stand a chance. So much damage and just like that… Four gods were killed. Seems like Sister Water made the right choice… I hope she remains happy for the remainder of her human lifespan." He sighed, walking over to the god of Wind's body. "So much damage… Huh!" He exclaimed in surprise.
"Ugh… What… Happened…" The god of Wind grunted, as he spat up blood.
Surshana took a potion out from his inventory and splashed it on his friend. "You got your asses handed to you. Seriously, what were you thinking?" He said, almost scolding his friend.
"I, see… So we lost a fight… Who exactly did we fight and why?" The god of wind asked, confused as he looked around.
"You led the four of you to turn against Sister Nature. You even killed some elves in the process. This is the payback she wrought upon your betrayal of our mutual friendship." Surshana answered, continuing to lay it on thick with the scolding. "I'm surprised you managed to survive…" He added.
The god of Wind shuttered as the memories flowed back into his mind. "Her power… Was nothing like a lvl 100… I hadn't prepared for an attack like that… It was like I got hit by that one world boss." He explained, shivering in fear. "Wait… I never expected her children to be killed off. I was hoping to get the elves out of the city before it got worse… I just had to play along with the others. Did we really kill her kin…?" He stammered as he tried explaining himself.
"You did… You really were stupid. To think that you'd go that far just because you believe humans are superior…" Surshana sighed, well, he mimicked a sigh.
The god of wind looked down at his hands and then at the other three gods… "It was those three who really believed that the human race was superior to all the others. I never believed that way myself. But, now… I'm sure to be hunted down again." He murmured terrified of the prospect. Just the thought of an enraged Night Silver out to kill me is enough to make me piss myself…
"I don't think you'll have to worry about that…" Surshana suggested, moving a hand to his boney chin.
"Huh? What do you mean?" The god of wind asked, curious and leaping at the chance he was safe.
"Well, I'm sure she let you live. I don't know why she did but, there is no way she would have mistaken your state of life. She knew you were alive. Perhaps it was a second chance to make amends." Surshana replied, with a simple shrug.
"I see… Then I'll have my work cut out for me. We have quite a lot of work to do. Let us work together to squash the supremacist groups. I'll make some announcements later." The god of Wind said, taking a deep relaxing breath and releasing all his tension.
"Perhaps you should find some women to procreate with. Strength may pass down through one's parents. If we want a strong force against the other, stronger races… We will need you seed to spread." Surshana suggested, causing the god of wind to blush a hard red color. "Ahahaha, oh… That was excellent thanks for making me laugh once again. I had forgotten what that felt like…" He laughed before being suppressed by an outside force.
"HEY! That was embarrassing!" The god of wind shouted, then went silent for a moment. "You are right though… And the odds of my offspring being stronger than any random person's offspring is way higher… But how do I decide on who would be the best fit?" The god of Wind asked, now also in deep thought.
"Why not just invite them by the hundreds? Surely your stamina will outlast that. And then you don't have to worry as much." Surshana answered, giving the easiest and quickest method.
"Hmm, as much fun as that may be… I think it's better if only the strong are chosen. I'll build a school to teach the magical and physical arts of combat and healing. Then choose from among the most promising candidates." The god of wind said, getting to his feet. "But first let's get rid of these bodies and clean everything up. After, I'll give the address to the public." He added.
"You could always leave this to the cat maids and start working on making those god-kin now. I'm sure any of the single women in the city would love to be treated so warmly by their god." Surshana teased.
"DO YOU WANT ME TO DIE OF A HEART ATTACK!" The god of Wind shouted, his face as red as tomato. "Give some time to prepare myself for that! It'll be the first time! Give me a break!" He continued, then shut up once he realized what he just admitted.
