The Butcher of Sargon (LoL x Arknight Fanfiction)

As soon as Garde's words fell, the ground beneath them began to tremble.

A horde of disaster beasts started fleeing from the center of the Hotlands to avoid the hot winds, as they couldn't stay in the deep desert for hours without breathing. 

But their reason for heading towards the Lizardman's market wasn't merely to escape the heat.

These beasts seemed to be taking advantage of the fact that the Lizardman had retreated into underground shelters, leaving the market defenseless. 

They wanted to sweep through and decimate the Lizardman. 

Seeing the beasts' mechanical parts, similar to those from the Nightzmora tomb beasts he'd faced earlier, Garde was sure of his suspicion.

An ancient civilization had begun to awaken and was preparing to extend its reach further out into the Hotlands.

But these disaster beasts were charging straight towards Garde and Surtr.

"Surtr, are you ready?"

"I'm going in!" Surtr was about to charge ahead when Garde grabbed her by the waistband of her skirt.

"What are you doing, crocodile man?"

"Coordination! Coordination! We'll be safer if we fight together."

"Tch, troublesome." Though she complained, Surtr tried to stand atop Garde.

"Should I hold you up?"

"Unnecessary!" Surtr stood on Garde's shoulders with ease, as if she was used to standing on high ground.

The hot winds ignited flames in Surtr's sword, Laevatain, and a phantom figure started to materialize behind her. 

Although the figure remained ghostly, it hovered close by like a shadow. 

Simultaneously, the flames from Laevatain extended the sword, making it appear that Garde was engulfed in fire, wielding a sword over 40 meters long.

Attack range had always been Garde's weak point, but now, with a 40-meter attack radius, that was no longer an issue.

Then Garde spotted a group of flying disaster beasts above them. 

Amidst the swirling sands, dozens of bright lights flashed, followed by a barrage of beams shooting down towards them.

Zzzztttt—

The concentrated lasers formed a web, aiming to entrap them.

"Surtr, hold on!" Garde sprinted, carrying Surtr as they charged into the incoming laser net.

The beams scorched the ground, burning the earth beneath them. 

Garde marveled at the intensity of the lasers. 

How could a flying beast, barely two meters long, wield such powerful weapons?

As they were about to collide with the laser grid, Garde's muscles bulged as he stepped forward heavily, rotating his massive frame like an athlete throwing a discus. 

His axe swung with immense force from below.

Boom!

The sharp sound of slicing through the air echoed, and Surtr, crouching to maintain her balance, saw Garde's axe fly hundreds of meters in an instant, cleaving through several flying beasts. 

Their tight formation was disrupted, and the once-impenetrable laser net crumbled.

Taking advantage of the opening, Garde charged forward.

"Surtr!"

As soon as the lasers vanished, Surtr's flaming sword reached its maximum output. 

Unlike Garde, who exerted all his strength in one powerful blow, Laevatain could maintain consistent, devastating power. 

From over a hundred meters away, her sword extended into a fiery beam, tracing a red line through the sky.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The sky erupted in flames as a dozen or more flying beasts and their laser weapons were obliterated by Surtr's strike.

"Nice work!"

"Hmph!" Surtr smirked slightly, but she wasn't about to lose focus just because of a compliment.

"The range is too far. I need five minutes to charge up for the next strike."

"I'll buy you the time!"

On the ground, Garde clashed with the oncoming disaster beasts.

Bam!

A giant lizard, towering over two meters high and more than ten meters long, charged at Garde. 

Half of its face had been replaced with mechanical components, greatly enhancing its bite force. 

But Garde wasn't about to give it the chance to bite him.

With Surtr cleaving from a distance and Garde using the lizard's momentum against it, he smashed its head into the ground with a punch, then summoned his giant axe.

A pack of gaunt, hyena-like disaster beasts lunged at Garde. 

He grabbed one by the snout and swung his axe to cleave another. 

The axe boomeranged back into his hand, swiftly slashing through yet another beast, while Surtr skewered the one behind him with Laevatain.

More beams fired from the distance. Garde used the body of the beast in his hand as a shield, blocking the lasers.

"Don't touch me with that hand later," Surtr said, seeing the slobber-covered hand he'd used to grab the hyena-like beast.

"Don't worry about that during battle!" Garde grunted, yanking Surtr down as a snake-like creature lunged from beneath the sands, aiming for her.

With battle instincts enhanced by the cursed sword, Surtr effortlessly decapitated the snake midair, barely needing to regain her balance. 

In the span of just 30 seconds, Garde and Surtr had already felled nearly twenty disaster beasts. 

Their combined might — Garde's impenetrable defense and Surtr's relentless offense — made them an unstoppable team.

With Surtr acting as a human cannon, Garde transformed from a mere crocodile man into a prehistoric beast.

"Charged up!"

Several minutes into the battle, Surtr unleashed another crimson beam that ripped through the sky, cutting down several more beasts. 

Her fiery sword reached over a hundred meters, obliterating the flying disaster beasts in its path.

There were still hundreds of disaster beasts storming the market, but none of them had made it past Garde and Surtr. 

Their massive frames, which should have been their advantage, now worked against them, slowing their progress. 

Unlike humans, the disaster beasts lacked the tactical tools to deal with powerful individual enemies.

Their only hope was to exhaust Garde and Surtr's strength.

But to drain Garde's energy? Impossible.
