The Genjutsu Devil of Konoha

Chapter 16: You cannot take my cheeks (16)

After this, he went back home. Tests were done, and he needed rest—so instead of going to the nurse and stressing Nanny Yui out...

He made his way outside the school. The red little string was still there. If you didn't look, you wouldn't find it. But if you looked closely—on his middle finger—that little red string could be seen.

He thought he did pretty good.

Yui could be seen coming toward him.

"Seijuro-kun, how was your first day of school?" she would say rather softly. Luckily, he had no dirt on him. He did not want her to start acting like a mom here and embarrass him.

"It was fine. I had some fun."

She smiled at him.

"That's good to know."

She took his hand and started walking away. Seijuro let out a breath he didn't know he'd been holding. His entire facade faded, revealing a very tired child.

He was smart, yes—but he was still a kid.

"How well did you do?" she asked, watching the child gaze at Konoha's infrastructure.

"I did decently well."

His eyes drifted up to the three faces carved into the Konoha mountain. Hm. Strangely, he had no aspiration to become Hokage. It seemed like a bother... way too much paperwork.

His gaze then shifted to a sweet shop, his curious little eyes lighting up at the sight of the sweets.

Yui noticed.

Five minutes later, he was chewing on some dango. Oh lord, they were juicy. They tasted so good. He especially liked the softness of the wagashi. Hm... oh, he loved this.

He loved this so much. So good.

His little cheeks were now plump, full of his favorite food.

So tasty... so good.

He liked it so much—oh, he liked this.

He stuffed his face with sweets. He liked them, okay? They were quite good.

The flavors melted in his mouth. Oh, he liked this...

He then took a delicious bite from the daifuku—oh, he was loving this. Every single second of this moment was being treasured by this child.

Yui sighed a bit. Hm. Sometimes, he was so rational that she forgot he was still a kid. Hm... he was going to be trained into a child soldier, but until his innocence was gone, he should be allowed to indulge himself a bit.

After all, he was allowed at least that.

POV Change.

Nawaki could be seen back at his home, the Senju clan compound. There was barely anyone there... but oh well.

The Senju clan had started breeding with civilians. So, heh... it was to be expected.

Not "started"—they'd been doing that ever since Konoha was formed. Nawaki was like... born in the third generation of that.

Sure, he himself was half Uzumaki, half Senju.

Yes... his heritage was, in fact, quite busted.

His dad was a Senju-Uzumaki, and his mom was an Uzumaki. Hm. Maybe he was more Uzumaki than Senju—like a 75–25 split.

He could be seen stuffing his face with meat... perfectly cooked food made by his grandma. Oh, he loved this woman.

"How was the exam?" Mito suddenly asked.

Nawaki, finishing slurping up some noodles, looked up at the woman in front of him.

Some of her red hair had already started turning white. She had a diamond-shaped symbol on her forehead and wore a traditional kimono. Her hair seemed to be held up by some kind of hairpin.

Even if she looked that old, there was a kind of vigor about her.

Sitting next to his grandma was Tsunade—the woman with Jounin-level strength.

To be fair, she was already a Jounin. A peak Jounin. She just needed more experience and more potent jutsu to enter a tier above Jounin.

Something like Quasi-Kage... or Low-tier Kage level.

TL;DR: if the person in question wasn't the Hokage... or the almighty future White Fang... she could 1v1 them.

Or her grandma.

Mito was still stronger.

Matter of fact, she was the strongest.

The only person able to withstand the First Hokage's Wood Release and live to tell the tale.

Not like a future Hyuga clan member who'll become a pencil holder.

"It was fine. I aced the physical exam. Don't think I did so well in the written test."

He scratched the back of his head, embarrassed.

"I told you to study before the exam. It shouldn't have been hard if you had studied."

Mito glared at the boy. A cold sweat appeared behind him.

"Well, I tried to study, but Nii-san wanted me to—"

The cold look he got from Tsunade made him shut his mouth.

"Go on. What did Tsunade want you to do?"

Mito could feel Tsunade was trying to hold back the truth.

She refused to be lied to.

"To focus on his taijutsu. You know Nawaki, he only wants to have flashy jutsu and all,"

Tsunade said with a smile on her face. She was not about to be beat.

"RIGHT!"

"Yes!"

Nawaki nodded rapidly. He did not want to deal with a pissed-off big sister. He would not rat her out and say she wanted him to cover for her going gambling again.

"Was there anyone in your class who caught your eye?" Mito said, sipping her tea.

Nawaki, deep into some boar meat, opened his mouth and said:

"Thersh wath thish guy, he wath part of the Kurama clan, he tottaly aced everythin'—"

"Nawaki, what did I tell you about speaking with your mouth full?"

Mito said. Nawaki chewed rapidly before swallowing the meat.

"He placed first on basically everything. Though I did beat him in the endurance test!"

He puffed out his cheeks, all proud. He won against a genius. May he be praised.

Tsunade was deep into some noodles. They were tasting. Their grandma's cooking was simply divine. Yes, the food deserved this glaze. It was the right amount.

"So you've got a genius in your class, huh?"

She added once she was done swallowing.

"Yeah. He even showed me how to throw a kunai more efficiently. He seemed nice."

He raised his fist.

"Oh."

That was rare—a genius without a massive stick up his ass. That was rather new.

"Pffth!" Tsunade laughed.

"Why are you laughing?" Nawaki asked, looking at his older sister.

"Imagine your skills were so bad that someone your age had to teach you... couldn't be me."

She laughed, yes, she was making fun of her little brother.

"Hey! I beat him in the endurance race!"

He said with pride.

"Well duh, you're an Uzumaki-Senju hybrid. I'd be more surprised if you didn't," Tsunade added.

She then sat up and said,

"The Kurama clan is known for their weak physique. So his starting point was further away than yours."

"What are you implying?" Nawaki asked, looking at his sister.

"If he was a civilian—or from any major clan—he'd beat you."

Wow. She was not holding back on her little brother.

He pouted... oh, that was so cute.

She began squeezing his cheeks.

"Grandma, help!" Nawaki shouted, as his cheeks were under attack. No! His cheeks—his precious cheeks! This monster known as his big sister was squeezing his cheeks!

Nawaki escaped from his sister's grip and hid in his grandma's arms. Hm. He was safe now.

He felt Mito's hand on his cheek.

...Oh no.

In an attempt to escape a lesser evil...

He was now in the hands of a much greater evil.
