Chapter 5: Chapter 5
I ended up spending the next hour with Brock making sure everything was good before I headed off again, I decided that if I wanted to live freely, I needed to be strong, so I hunkered down on training once I hit route four and escaped Mt. Moon.
Gastly and Koraidon also wanted to get stronger it seems.
We gave training our all for the next three and half weeks. During that time I made sure they learnt some new moves and I started training with Koraidon on gliding and climbing.
Climbing was the easier part, she would just need to grip the spot and apply pressure using her strength, but I decided to make her learn to hand onto ledges and stay still. It was trial and error before she got it down.
Gliding, that was harder. It seems that while she wasn't needing super powered sandwiches to regain her powers like the game version of her did, she would have to learn how to do it all.
Helping her learn how to properly extend the wings from her head was harder then it seemed it would be. Then learning to read the winds and all that. Of course once we got going, instinct kicked in quick and soon she was leaping and gliding.
I was so proud.
She also in that time managed to learn to use Brick Break and Dragon Claw. The simplicity in it wasn't that hard for her to learn them, it was just doing it correctly that made the move work as it did. I need to figure out some ranged moves for her, it'll be expensive, but I should get her flamethrower eventually.
Work for future me.
Of course my little gas ball wasn't idle either. He had maxed out most of what he could do as a Gastly.
Confuse Ray, Lick, Hypnosis, Mean Look, Payback, Spite, Curse and Hex.
He had mastered every move he could get his little gaseous form on. It was kinda scary in an amazing way.
He was just one little push away from evolving, and I had plans for that to be the cerulian gym. Perhaps if I'm lucky I run into a trainer along the way that gives him a proper fight.
Besides his move training though, was practiced going intangible and going through things.
See, ghost pokemon can become invisible, they can go through many things since they aren't technically on the same plane of existence as the thing they're going through.
However that's when the energy of moves comes into play.
Pokemon energy, known as aura, the life energy runs through all Pokemon, even ghost, but when foreign aura mixes with a ghosts' aura it causes them to smash into each other and the ghost type Pokemon is dragged back into this plane of existence.
So I've been toying around with that thought, Gastly couldn't go intangible against moves, but he could go into the ground. So long as an earthquake or magnitude doesn't happen.
Of course that doesn't count to my Gastly who will keep his levitate ability, thus making that strategy ineffective against him.
So he can quickly shoot into the ground to avoid moves targeting him. Of course this strategy requires I build his speed up, so once he becomes a haunter, I can truly begin his training, we practiced the slow version of this.
After all, once speeding along and worrying about his gas body, it'll truly begin the fun time.
For now though, I decided this was enough training, it was time to show the Cerulian City Gym what it meant to face me.
Was I being arrogant? A little, but I wanted to prove myself, and this was the way, plus I didn't want to wait for next years Indigo League. No thanks.
I wanted to prove myself in this Indigo League.
Of course that meant I should probably catch a full team, because losing the Indigo League from not having a full team would be pure embarrassment.
I'd die of shame.
"Koraidon?" She nudged me gently and I smiled and rubbed her head.
"I'm fine, just thinking." I assured her as I hopped onto her back and Rotom started guiding us where we needed to go.
I've also noticed as our bond enhances, I can sorta understand them. Not so much in words, but perhaps in emotions?
I really need to get a Riolu or Lucario. An I just so happen to know where to find one, but he's inaccessible to me.
Perhaps I can try to reach out and find Riley. He's the last known aura guardian I think. Probably. Figuring out timelines is a pain in the behind.
Does he still own that island? Could I get a Riolu that way?
Questions for future me to figure out, because I'd get a damn Lucario one way or another. I want my Egyptian aura wielding jackal looking dog damnit!
"Rotom make a reminder for after we take down the fourth gym to look up aura guardians and Riolu." I said out loud as Rotom buzzed putting in the reminder before going back to guiding Koraidon.
•~~~~•
"Cerulean City. Home of the three sensational sisters." I spoke aloud as I was led to the gym by Rotom. I booked my gym time, tomorrow after their show.
I had to think how I would go about this.
I would have to fight two of them, so I would have to handle two different kind of battle strategies, of course nothing crazy since it's a two badge battle, but it was still something.
Hm, I remember them mentioning a Seel, so I'll have to work with that, probably a Staryu since it's only a two badge battle.
Gastly can probably handle Seel, but if Staryu lands a physic attack it could do some good damage, in that case Koraidon could handle the Staryu to avoid any ice type moves, oh well, I guess I'll plan on the go.
•~~~~•
"Challenger Raven Inanis vs Gym Leader Violet of Cerulean City, Challenger may substitute, two Pokemon only. This is a gym battle for the challengers seconds badge. Gym leader throws out first." The referee declared and Violet smiled as she tossed out a blue ball, a dive ball.
"Staryu!"
Well shit. I guess I'll have to work through this.
"Time for some fun."
"Gastly!"
(* >ω<)
"Gastly, start off strong, hit them with a confusing lick!" I called out as Gastly cackled and shot its tongue out while using confuse ray at the same time.
"Staryu, into the water and use harden." Violet called out cheerfully as the starfish Pokemon jumped into the pool.
"Water, fun." I deadpanned quietly.
"Gastly throw a couple paybacks into the water." I called out, I wanted to have a little fun first before getting fully serious.
Was it stupid? Completely. Did we care? Not at all.
"Staryu rapid spin into Minimuze to avoid the attacks." Violet called out as Staryu in the water avoided the attacks, however that was part of the plan.
"Gastly, toxic into the water." I called out with a wide smile.
"Staryu leave the water!" Violet urgently ordered and I smiled, just what I wanted.
"Lick!" I called out and it worked. Staryu got hit by the tongue hard and took some damage, but nothing much, however it had the desired effect, paralysis.
"Now for the coup de grâce. Gastly use Hypnosis." I called out.
"Staryu rapid spin with swift!" Violet called out quickly and Staryu tried to move, but couldn't due to the paralysis.
Hypnosis landed strong and the starfish was out.
"Now let us finish it, Gastly use hex." I smiled out before Gastly cackled and hit them with hex, and it was game over then, however the fun didn't stop there.
Gastly began glowing brightly in white light and I smiled, the fun has truly began now.
"Haunter!"
(ಠ‿ಠ)
Oh yeah, my boy was in top shape.
"Gym leader switches. Gym leader Daisy enters the field." The referee said and the two sisters switched places.
"You may have beaten Violet, but you won't beat me. Come on out, Horsea!" Daisy called out and I took a deep breath, ok I can work with this.
"Haunter, you ready for another game?" I called out and he cackled gleefully as he glowed a little.
"Good, let's start strong again, use your new move, Shadow Punch!" I called grinning as a shadowed hand appeared and hit Horsea into the pool filled with toxic still.
"Horsea twister now to avoid falling into the water!" Daisy called out and Horsea immediately took action and managed to land on one of the platforms.
"Not bad." I mumbled and grinned as I called out my next move. "Double payback Haunter!"
"Haunter! Haun! Kakakaka." Haunter joyfully launched a few paybacks towards Horsea.
"Bubble Beam into agility!" Daisy called out in response using the bubbles to deflect the paybacks and avoid any that got through.
"Hex!" I called out immediately, it won't do as much damage, but it will damage nonetheless.
"Horsea!" It hit! Yes!
"Lick!" I called out and Haunters tounge extended to lick at the Horses who was hit, but sadly didn't get paralyzed.
Should have gone for Hypnosis. Oh well, this is fine.
"Dragon Breath!"
Oh that could hurt. Time for the peakabo games to begin.
"Haunter, let's play peakabo with Horsea." I grinned as Haunter cackled and sunk into the toxic filled water with glee completely immune to his own toxic, and he didn't need to breath, so he was fine.
"Horsea keep an eye out, he could pop out from anywhere below you." Daisy warned and I grinned as I spotted Haunter.
"Peakabo we see you, but you don't see us, payback, hex and shadow punch to finish it off." I called out as Haunter cackled from up above and launched a hex, followed by two paybacks from each arm then a shadow punch.
"Horsea." The little sea dragon called out before fainting.
"Winner, Raven Inanis!" I grinned at the referees call.
"Well done Haunter, you've evolved, but now we gotta get you some more moves." I grinned at Haunter who cackled happily in agreement beside me before he merged into my shadow.
That's new, but not unpleasant. Felt kinda nice actually.
"Well done Raven, we are happy to present you the Cerulean Gum Badge alongside the TM bubble beam. A favorite of mine. Also a little something." Daisy said with a wink as she handed over the badge, tm and a slip with her number, or so I assume.
Ok, I may or may not stay back for a few days, Daisy is nineteen is she not? Brock was older then fiftneen, so why wouldn't she be older? She's got the body for it, but you can never trust that.
"Oh my. A very welcome present." I grinned as a small blush formed on her cheeks as her sisters giggled behind her.
I then left to the Pokemon center to get Haunter checked over since he evovled and I wanted to make sure he was in good condition.
•~~~~•~~~~•~~~~•
So I've been thinking for the last few hours, this story is going to focus on his journey, and eventually romance will have a part of this story, but I've decided.
Raven will have two girls as the final pairing, right now he's kinda just a bachelor who enjoys the occasional night with a beautiful woman.
1) Cynthia, because she's my favorite female character in Pokemon. She was ready to throw hands with fucking Satan of Pokémon alongside her monster of a Garchomp.
2) I'll decide in the future, but I'd be down for suggestions. Also they have to be human. I know how some people think…
Anyway I'll list his pokemon now at the end of every chapter.
