Chapter 8: Training
Sun Wukong takes Belial on a trip to the dimensional gap. After they exit, they arrive on an empty hilltop of green grass.
Belial looks around and becomes puzzled. A suspicion of tricery, arising from his thoughts. Yet as if he knows exactly what Belial is thinking, Sun Wukong speaks. "Don't strain your brain, brat. My residence is over there." He points his power pole to a direction. Next reality twists, revealing a house and a big dragon sleeping next to it.
Belial stands there in awe. Having witnessed a house manifest out of thin air.
Noticing Wukong already walking ahead, Belial quickly catches up.
"Tell me brat, how long has it been since you became a devil?" Wukong asks.
It takes a moment for Belial to think but he finally remembers. "About just over 1 month."
Unknown to Belial, Wukong who's walking ahead of him smirks.
They arrive at the front of the house and Wukong stops. Turning back to Belial, he says. "Strip."
Belial frowns and almost utters words of protest. But he remembers the condition under what Wukong took him in. Hence he does as told.
"Good." Wukong nods and twists space beside him. Taking out a training outfit.
"Put that on." He says.
Belial strips until his buttcheeks shine in the sun, then takes the outfit from his master.
It's a brown tunic, with dark brown baggy pants. The pants look like a hybrid of cargo and sweatpants. Finally black slip on shoes for his feet.
As he finishes dressing, he admires the outfit. It's light and comfortable. No matter how he moves, the outfit doesn't restrict him.
While he's distracted, Wukong slips off undetected. Belial only notices him once Wukong exits the house with a girl trailing behind.
"I will see your skills now. Spar with her." He states. Puffing his pipe.
Belial looks at the young girl, seemingly same age as him. She's around 170cm tall and wearing a blue qipao dress. Her dark brown hair is in two ox horns, with ribbons dangling from them. Her prominent, muscular legs are cased in blue plants and black slip on shoes.
The girl doesn't speak a word, but smashes her fist in her palm and bows.
Belial simply stares at her. The next moment the girl looks up and appears right in front of him.
Half caught by suprise, Belial jumps back. However the distance is closed so fluidly, he might as well not have moved.
The girl punches Belial in the face, giving him a unique experience. Without time to recover, he blocks an incoming kick to the ribs on instinct, but gets kicked in the chin and sent flying.
Not even allowing him to be knocked out peacefully, the girl catches him with her foot and slams him down on the ground. Delivering a stomp as a proverbial dot for the spout.
Belial remains unmoving, but awake. It's not the injuries that keep him still, it's sheer confusion.
What the fuck happened?
Belial runs the fight through his head multiple times, but can't understand anything. The first punch was more like 3 lighting fast ones. He didn't feel pain like normal. Instead his head just went numb.
He can't understand how the girl closed distance. It seemed like she turned off laws of physics and locked her location to him...
Belial's mind reboots. Enabling him to stand up.
"You did well for a month old." Wukong mentions.
"Who the fuck is that girl?" Belial points at her, asking Wukong. An expression of disbelief on his face.
"That is your Diciple sister- Chun Li." Wukong states.
Chun... Chun Li!!
Belials disbelief continues. The blue qipao, the ox horns, the thickest thighs... It's bloody Chun Li from street fighter. What is she doing here?
Belial could kiss a cross and swear to god, a character such as Chun Li did not exist in the DXD novel. There could be a possibility it isn't street fighter Chun Li, but that possibility is very low. No matter how you look at it, it's Chun Li.
However if that's street fighter Chun Li, couldn't more X characters exist in this world? Wouldn't that change the story entirely? Considering this, if there's random characters running around, the story will differ from the original, no matter what he does.
Belial stands frozen in place. Completely submerged in his thoughts.
"Brat, wake up. And put these on." Wukong calls him. Throwing him a pair of wrist cuffs.
Belial jolts and looks at the brown wrist cuffs on the ground. With a final glance at Chun Li, he picks them off the ground. Except he has to strain himself to do so.
"Weighted wrist cuffs?" He mutters.
"You left 2 on the ground." Wukong points with his pipe.
Belial looks down and confirms. There are indeed 2 more on the ground. He ducks down and notices they're a bit bigger. So ankle cuffs?
He looks at his master, but Wukong only leisurely smokes his pipe.
Belial fastenes the ankle cuffs first and then puts on the wrist ones.
It's so heavy...
"Now run down the hill and back up." Wukong says and turns on his heel. Walking back in the house.
"Eh?" Belial makes a stupid expression.
He expects me to run with these?!
Belial stares at his fading back, until Wukong is completely out of sight.
He tries walking. But even that is incredibly hard.
With a sigh of resignation, Belial starts dragging his feet. Running is impossible, but he does manage to carefully walk.
Once he begins going downhill, his speed quickens. Yet that's when Belial has to really focus on balancing himself. Every swing of his arms has to be controlled, or he'll topple over.
He continues so. Working up a sweat and getting his blood pumping. Until he eventually walks into thick mist and reaches the bottom.
Belial looks around, his field of view limited to his armspan. If he didn't have the hill's curvature to orient himself, he's fairly certain he could get lost.
Belial stares at his feet. He walked about 200 metets downhill. So climing up that distance shouldn't be too hard.
With that determination, Belial starts his way up. Straining his whole body to put a single foot forward.
His pace is so slow, he might as well be crawling.
Turns out, it is incredibly difficult. Just getting out of the thick mist takes forever. Once Belial is able to see again, he stops his panting to sigh.
There's so much more distance to cover!
Belial makes his way up. One foot at a time.
Hours pass, he feels like giving up. But the end point is definetly getting closer.
The sun falls and sets beyond the horizon.
Belial finally makes it to the top. Crashing on the ground like a sack of potatoes.
He's spent! His training clothes are drenched in sweat and he feels like every muscle in his body is burning.
He had to crawl his way up at the end, but he did it. He finally completed the task for today.
For a brief second, Belial considers whether all this effort is worth it. He knows for a fact he'll have to do these kinds of things daily. So is all this pain really worth it?
But then another, much scarier thought enters his mind. A thought of being toyed with by someone much more powerful than him. Some asshole who is the epitome of trash, able to do whatever he wants to him, just because he was born with power.
He can't have that.
Power is not his desire. It's a necessity.
Belial strains his last functioning muscle fibers and pushes himself on his knees. He is not so weak to be stopped by simple pain.
An old, crazy guy enters his view. With his hazy vision, it takes a second for Belial to recognise the person.
Sun Wukong stands in front of him smiling. "So you actually climbed up... let's go eat."
Belial breathes out and starts taking off his wrist cuffs.
"Stop. I did not tell you to remove the weights. Keep them on until I tell you otherwise." Wukong says. Then walks away.
Belial rolls his eyes. He expected this, but hoped...
Well... fuck it.
He fastenes the half open weight back on and struggles up. Doing his best not to fall down while following Wukong back to his house.
