Chapter 9: Chapter 9: The World Preparation
It was 2 PM. Hannah sat at her desk, reviewing student reports, when the door suddenly burst open.
"Mrs. Hight! I HAVE SOMETHING TO TELL YOU!"
Yaxoc's voice echoed through the room. Hannah blinked, momentarily stunned by the interruption.
"What's up?" she asked, setting down her pen.
"Lucius and Ogamak are preparing for war!"
Hannah's eyes widened. "Already?! We have to prepare too!" She sprang to her feet. "I'll notify the world leaders immediately!"
Without another word, she bolted out of the room.
Yaxoc stepped outside, only to stop in his tracks. The sky had changed.
A deep red hue bled across the heavens, swallowing the blue.
"What's up with the sky?" he muttered, looking up.
A voice answered behind him. "It seems someone is controlling it…"
Yaxoc turned to see Calamito, adjusting their fedora as they stepped forward.
"What makes you think that? Wait—are you the one messing with the weather?" Yaxoc accused.
Calamito shook their head. "No. But someone else is."
They pointed to the sun, which was shifting into an eerie, blood-red color.
"Most magicians believe a crimson sun signifies the return of demons," Calamito explained. "Some cultures see it as a warning—one that appears every five centuries. But this time, someone didn't predict it. Someone forced it."
Yaxoc narrowed his eyes. "So this isn't just fate. It's a declaration."
His gaze sharpened as he spotted movement in the sky.
"There. Demons. Two of them."
Calamito barely reacted. "Hmph. Small fry. You take care of it."
Yaxoc smirked. "Easy."
With a flicker of energy, he launched himself toward them, making quick work of the demons before teleporting back to his original spot.
"Done."
Calamito nodded. "Good. Let's go."
The two walked off, their minds already set on what lay ahead.
Elsewhere…
Ethereal stood on a distant ledge, watching the shifting sky. His gaze then dropped to Lucius and Ogamak, the masterminds of the looming war.
"The number of demons will be atrocious this time," Ethereal muttered to himself. His expression darkened as he eyed Ogamak. "And that guy… Who knows how long he's been planning this."
A sudden presence made him tense.
SHWIP—
Yurgion teleported in front of him, spear in hand.
Ethereal instinctively took a step back.
"What are you doing here?" Yurgion asked bluntly.
Ethereal kept his composure. "Me? Just doing what I'm supposed to do."
Yurgion wasn't having it. "Piss off, kid."
Without hesitation, he lunged, driving his spear toward Ethereal's arm.
But Ethereal reacted fast—too fast. He sidestepped, narrowly avoiding the blade, and retaliated with a sharp kick to Yurgion's face before vanishing in a flash of energy.
Yurgion stumbled back, touching his cheek. His expression twisted with irritation.
"Damn you…"
Masoquest Tribe
Hannah walked into the heart of the Masoquest tribe, standing before its leader: Utfugyirocaito.
She bowed respectfully. "It's an honor to meet you, Utfu. Is that alright?"
The leader raised his hand. "It's fine." Lowering it, he asked, "What brings you here?"
Hannah's face grew serious. "The demons are returning. The war starts tomorrow."
Utfugyirocaito's eyes darkened.
"Lucius and Ogamak are leading them," Hannah continued. "I've already reached out to most world leaders—they've agreed to send reinforcements. I came here to request your strongest warriors."
Utfugyirocaito remained silent for a moment, deep in thought. Then, he gave a firm nod.
"If even world leaders recognize the threat, then this is no ordinary battle." He stood. "Very well. I will send my finest warriors."
Hannah's expression brightened. "Great! Do I need to arrange transportation for them?"
Utfugyirocaito chuckled. "Not necessary, Mrs. Hight. I have my own ways of getting them there."
Hannah nodded. "Alright. I'll be waiting."
With that, she turned and hurried off.
Utfugyirocaito remained, gazing at the crimson sky.
"So… it has begun."
Back at the Academy
Marcus sat on the couch, Moonlight resting peacefully on his shoulder.
The door suddenly swung open.
"Marcus! We're in trouble."
Marcus glanced up at Yaxoc. "What kind of trouble?"
"Lucius and Ogamak are preparing for war."
Marcus stiffened. "Already? Did you tell Mrs. Hight?"
Yaxoc nodded. "Yeah. She's on it."
Marcus sighed, rubbing his temple. "I figured something was up when the sky turned red."
"Yeah, the demons arrive tomorrow." Yaxoc said. "You should train with Moonlight."
Marcus gestured at her, still asleep. "I would, but she won't wake up. No matter what I do."
Yaxoc groaned, dragging a hand down his face. "You know what? Do whatever. I'll go warn Yaxocara and Luna."
He stormed out.
Yaxoc's House
Yaxoc slammed through the door, spotting Luna in the kitchen.
"LUNA! Where's Yaxocara!?"
Luna flinched, spinning around. "Don't scream at me like that!"
Yaxoc crossed his arms. "Whatever. Why are you wearing my sister's clothes?"
Luna looked down at herself. "No idea. Didn't think they'd fit."
Yaxoc pinched the bridge of his nose. "I don't have time for this. Where's Yaxocara?"
"In your room. No clue what she's doing."
Without hesitation, Yaxoc ran upstairs and slammed the door open.
"WHAT THE HELL!?" Yaxocara shrieked.
"JUST LIKE YOU DID TO MY WALL YESTERDAY!" Yaxoc shouted. "WE'RE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE!"
Yaxocara scoffed. "OH YEAH? WHAT'S THE PROBLEM, HUH? YOUR FACE IS SO UGLY THAT WORLD LEADERS HAD TO DECLARE A GLOBAL CRISIS?!"
"EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT STATEMENT WAS WRONG EXCEPT THE GLOBAL CRISIS, YOU BICYCLE!"
"WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME!?"
"YOU HEARD ME!"
Luna stormed in. "WHEN WILL YOU TWO STOP FIGHTING!?"
Silence.
Luna folded her arms. "That's what I thought." She turned and left.
Yaxoc and Yaxocara exchanged glances.
"We should probably not piss her off." Yaxoc muttered.
"Agreed."
The Final Meeting
Hours later, Hannah stood before a massive gathering of saviors and elite warriors inside the academy gym.
She took a deep breath. "Thank you all for coming."
The room fell silent.
"The war begins tomorrow at 10 PM." Her voice was steady. "The demons will arrive in full force, led by Lucius and Ogamak."
Her expression hardened. "We fight not just for survival, but for vengeance. Two months ago, we lost our greatest principal. He was assassinated by a hunter. But tomorrow… we win this war. And we honor those who fell before us."
A savior raised their hand. "When will the #1 savior arrive?"
Hannah hesitated.
"I don't know. But when they do… they'll be fighting alongside us."
The room buzzed with anticipation.
Tomorrow, the battle for survival would begin.
